Stock Trading Basics to Swing Trading

Hey Livelife, You have so much experience in swing trading

Have  a question for you-when you play short term and swings, do you calculate taxes you will pay?

For example: You bought "abc" @ $10. It ran  to $40
                   - you sold @ $40 and  put 35% on a side for taxes- right?(or put in play again
but hold in mind you need to pay $10 taxes)
                    - so, actually you sold @ $30( 40- 10=30)
Next: You want to get back in again  -  to do it right you need to get in much below $30. Other wise it's just  will get in higher then you sold plus waste of time, effort, commissions and taxes paper work

It may work not bad for price range above $10 - but they don't run 200-300%
In pennies, when you swing .10...or... - you think you making profits- and end up paying just taxes and commissions

Do you calculate?

Tell me where I'm wrong - I want to swing too

Sorry for my poor English, hope you understud what i meant

Thanks for the comments lana2b,

It is a good idea to factor out your tax on your gains.  I, however, trade with all of the gains to maximize my profit.

As to swing trading, I want to stress this point and even include it in the short/mid-term template instructions.  To effectively swing trade, you must identify stocks that are trending with the technicals (price rise/fall cycles follow MACD/RSI/Volume cycles).

You can tell whether the stock is trending or not by looking at the chart trend.  If you at the BUY/SELL chart below of HEB, you can clearly see that this is a trending stock because the price rise/fall cycles follow the MACD/RSI cycles very closely.  To swing trade, you follow the swing trading template and BUY (Blue points) and SELL (Red points).

The BUY points represent MACD bottoming with matching RSI bottoming AND with rebounding price.  The SELL points represent MACD peaking with matching RSI and price peaking.

I used HEB as my first Rotational Swing Trading stock and sold at the RED sell point.  I am waiting for the MACD/RSI to bottom again for me to BUY to do Rotational Swing Trading.  I will post my Rotational Swing Trades so you can follow my BUY/SELL points also.

If you do not fully and clearly follow, run some more charts and practice.  Here's a sample stock chart link with MACD/RSI/Time already set for short-term swing trading:

If you still cannot follow, send me an email and I will help you.  :D

Very nice gain day for GZFX with $0.0067 (78.82%) increase!
= As I posted before, this is a "speculation" play and you must be ready for extreme volatility. =

Some asked why there was "strange" buy/sell price patterns intraday.  Penny stocks, unlike listed stocks (NYSE/Nasdaq/AMEX) do not require a seller for you to buy shares.  When you place a BUY order, you can buy straight from the available shares and not necessarily from a seller.  This is how penny stocks raise money.  GameZnFlix has billions of shares they have for sale and days like today is perfect for them to sell some of those shares to raise much needed working capital, which allows the company to grow.

This "dilution" of additional shares will have some negative impact on the share price, so often the companies are careful when and how much shares they sell.  GZFX traded over 1.35 BILLION shares today!  I am quite certain that GameZnFlix sold a large amount of the billions of shares.

Is this bad?  If they release too many shares too fast, then it will drive the price of the stock too low.  If you look at the intraday chart, GZFX maintained most of its gain throughout the day, indicating buying strength.  As long as GameZnFlix is careful with their release of shares while allowing the share price to gain, it will be WIN-WIN for share holders and GameZnFlix.

GameZnFlix going nationwide with Circuit City is the "BIG" news that everyone has been waiting for.  Since GameZnFlix is still a penny stock, many will only trade the stock instead of holding long-term.  Likewise, I also recommend that you trade GZFX short-term.

As to near-term projection of GZFX, as the news of the nationwide rollout with Circuit City spreads and if more positive PR/News get released (such as increased number of subscribers and other deals GameZnFlix is working on like AAFES and the US military) more buying pressure will push the price higher.

Ok, hedge fund managers won today's round.  They accomplished what they wanted to do, push down the price of Avian stocks and they bought all they long!

Well, I am planning my buy back of GNBT!

My repost from 3SOF Penny GZFX MB:

http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=2047.660

First, we all know here that wallst.net is a paid PR website that works to distribute company info/news.  Other companies such as STX, TASR, HEB, etc. also use this website.

You forget that this is a penny stock.  I am certain that GameZnFlix was able to sell a significant amount of 3 billion outstanding shares directly yesterday to buyers, which kept the price down.

This is bad for those that bought above $0.015, but raised much needed capital for the company.  I am sure GameZnFlix management is aware that to raise future working capital, they must not "collapse" their investment capital from share holders by releasing too many shares (I wonder how many shares were sold yesterday?).  I believe as they start their partnership with Circuit City in going nationwide, they will look to grow as a "serious" national company.

As to Elite G thinking that the gap will not be filled, I agree with him.  GZFX has been falling quite a bit since the Nov-Jan time of first nationwide rollout anticipation.  If GameZnFlix did not release so many shares yesterday, I believe GZFX would have closed much higher.  With raising of capital done, I believe GameZnFlix management will be more careful today to allow the share price to climb to secure future capital generation.  I believe GZFX will gain steadily from this point after some short-term volatility.

With that said, time will tell what will happen today and the rest of this week.

Hey LL check out DYMTF it really fits well with your trending stocks  template.  I have a sneaky suspicion this will continue throughout this year as (supposedly) more than 20 contracts are being worked out. By the way should be huge news tommorrow.  Here is the chart fits your template nicely.

John and Chip have stated that AAFES is many times more valuable to GZFX than Circuit City.

The market knows the name Circuit City and may not react the same to AAFES, even though AAFES means more in reaching profitability.  And look at the amount of locations for AAFES.  Combine that with perfect target market and it equals subs.

AAFES is important for many reasons.  The target market and international exposure is immediate.  And they do not have to pay AAFES the same amount per sub as CC.

All in all, to have AAFES is a giant deal.  The more partnerships, the more of a base we can build on here.

Another thing to consider.  John stated to a reliable source today that Golden Gate converted the debentures the past few days.  And John said that GG is done.

If this is the case, GZFX has cash to move forward and self finance operations.  This will certainly help with the Outstanding Share issue.  Remember when AMEP finished the debentures?

I am buying more to take into Friday and next week.  I think that a parlay of news is possible.  It could move up again for a nice trade by next week, imo.

I am going all in again before end of day Thursday for a trade on a string of news.

I worked late again on a project and just got home.

Well well!  My suspicion of stock manipulation by hedge fund managers may be true.  They bought all day yesterday as GNBT fell and today, GNBT rises again!

Gain of $0.20 (6.76%) is respectable with 23 million shares traded which is more than twice the 3 month average of 11 million shares.

Technically, GNBT looks to continue gaining until RSI hits previous profit taking levels.

pompano, nice work on DYMTF!

When you find a stock that follows the technicals, the stock is a "trendable" stock meaning you can more accurately anticipate and predict it's behavior.

With such "trending" stocks, you can trade more effectively and buy-low and sell-high.

Since RSI is approaching previous profit taking levels, look for MACD peaking and take profit if you are swing trading DYMTF and buy back more shares on MACD/RSI rebound.  ;)

Keep up the good work!
