PEIX -It's down, but I could not stand the idea of Bill Gates getting any richer.

I did some homework yesterday- HERE are some interesting stocks that are ethanol related.  Remamber, PEIX and YOLLF.pk have no earnings, so here are some real ones:

MGPI - remember this from the Adkins craze - they are one of the biggest alcohol distillers in the US
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=mgpi

STKL - Bush spoke about Switch Grass - this company works with it
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=stkl

IMCO - they make parts that convert engines to use ethanol.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=imco

Ethanol is corrosive to engine parts.  Also, the MPG you get is less!

Maybe when Bill Gates liked the ethanol concept, people thought it was great.  As soon as President Bush said he liked it, everyone hated it.

Jimmy Carter will be talking about Gasahol again this week

Snowcat - thanks for doing that DD. I'll keep those three on my radar as well as ADM.  ADM was mentioned in the Fortune article where I found PEIX, but it's not as sexy as PEIX. But if it'll make me money though, that's sexy to me.

MGPI is a stock I played almost two years ago during the Adkins fad. Did pretty well on it, almost a double.

QuoteAs soon as President Bush said he liked it, everyone hated it.
Typical sell the news. I didn't think that would happen in this case, but it did. Calven, nice exit on those half shares. I think PEIX will get to $20 in the next couple months and I really like the chart so I will hold.

Will likely buy more shares should it go down another 10%

Had to take some profits after I saw a gap down...

LT - This will still go over 20$ in 2006

Heck of an ascending triangle on the 1-min chart with the top of the line at 17.00. It's been trading in the 16.95-16.99 range for several minutes. EDGX on the ask with "154" shares offered at $17 (154 = 15,400 shares).

No sooner had I hit the "post" button then those 15,400 shares got gobbled up and PEIX went over $17. I had set a stop limit order to buy if it broke $17.01 with a limit at 17.05. Filled at 17.05, sold at 17.75 about 15 minutes later. I love hitting a quick trade like that. $140 profit. That's lunch money for the rest of February!

Bummed I missed this move today. I set an alert for $22.50 but when it went off I passed on buying. I bought just before the close. That was kind of dumb since it was an emotional buy. If we get a "gap and go" with big volume I'll hold, otherwise will sell at the open.

Wow!

I started this thread end of November.  Did a quick trade, took it off the radar and missed the big move.

Congratulations to those that stuck with PEIX.  For some of you, a double from the $ 12's.

RealDeals21, thank you for bringing it back to my attention.

Just one opinion, do the research

Green Plains Renewable Energy, Inc. (Nasdaq: GPRE) organized to construct and operate a 50 million gallon, dry mill, fuel grade ethanol plant.

I would recommend keeping an eye on these ethanol producers that may intend to have an IPO in the near future. I personally have emailed every producer that is not either publicly traded, or not traded in the major markets to find out about IPO's. Most if not all will tell you no, but for every company it is an option. Especially when it comes to raising capital for expansion.

Other than that, the following companies are more than promising but over due time and go long with these. These are in the mix with ethanol producers.

GSHF and VRDM

Stocks to keep your eyes on

CLME Colusa Biomass Switchgrass to ethanol

GSPI Green Star Products Owns two ethanol plants but I am pressing the company for info about these plants to see if they have any plans for them.

IESV Intrepid may, upon getting investors to join in, produce ethanol out of Idaho. But again, they need capital.

XLPI with the ethanol adapter and lube for E85. This stock will become big due to areas that are big into E85. This is a go long stock.

Green Energy Corp.'s (GEYC.PK) patented gasification technology converts biomass to a synthetic gas that can be burned to generate electricity, reformed to produce ethanol or used to feed solid oxide fuel cell. "Since biomass is available in ever-growing quantities and often creates a disposal problem, it represents a source of energy that offers an economic advantage over fossil fuels that have to be produced and paid for," said R.A. (Dutch) Hildebrand, chief engineer of Green Energy Corp.

Thanks for the Ethanol list Snowy. The OTC and pink sheet stocks are ones to keep an eye because if Ethanol plays get crazy in the next year or two (they've been hot but not bird-flu like crazy), those stocks will get lots of pump action. I've bookmarked this page so I won't lose your list!

3 employees.  do they get healthcare benefits?

They get all the grain al-ki-hol they can drink.

All an efficient ethanol plant needs is 3 people.  One to make the doody, one to shovel it into the machine, and one to open the spigot and get the ethanol.  (they have to hire someone else if they plan on selling it and making money).

Gates and Branson need one more partner, maybe Trump.

Like with the bird flu, the rising tide lifts all boats.....

Someone must have thought ERS makes ethanol +3!!

Check out Snowcat's Hot Stocks thread for a great article on XTHN - up 16% today - they can convert all organic waste (garbage and doody and paper pulp and orange peels) into ethanol!  No shit!

Lucas Scott

hey Snowcat - the momo players from the bird flu plays seem to be migrating to ethanol. I'm in GSHF, which I like because it holds stakes in the other little greenies like VRDM and INSQ. So GSHF should be a good proxy whenever those li'l fellas makes a move. A nice run seems to be underway that could continue for a few months. Wait till the dumb money gets here - the people who were buying GNBT at $5 or STTK up near $2. When they arrive (late as usual) we should see some crazy spurts.

I'm thinking of getting some ADM. It's probably the most legitimate play. At $36 it's not going to get the attention of the ethanol chasers, which means its more ripe for a solid and steady increase in pps. It's the type of stock that will goes to the 50's and you wonder "when did that happen" because it's so slow and steady.
