David, I believe that fundamentals are good to support and uptrend or downtrend of a stock, but when I enter on a stock, I don't want to marry it, just to flirt an while to get my honey and then go out to another.

My point is that I think you value more the fundamental than the technical part of the trade, while, for me, the fundamental is a longterm relationship with a stock and the technical analyses is for short-term relationship.

At 3stocksonfire, what is the strategy? The main page of the site says "Our team scans and filters 11000 stocks everyday to come up with the best short term opportunities"......If one says "best short term opportunities", isn't that contrary to your affirmation of "I'll keep holding whatever happens"?

For me, best short term opportunity is going to where the market orders me go to, keep holding whatever happens is having a serious risk of going against the market today.

Don't take it wrong, I believe you guys are making a great work at finding great picks for all of us, but the issue seems to don't have a plan to bail out - this because the fundamentals kinda disrupts the technical part of the plan of entering at a support or breakout and selling at the resistance or breakdown.

D.

A lot of us (myself included) have been asking this question to David on almost each thread of his picks lol, but there is now a thread that is dedicated to the discussion of long term vs. short term, and David has given a reply there that explains the reasoning for the approach.  If you want to take a look at that, its here:

As for DIET, I mentioned in this thread that I was looking at getting in, but never did.  Now with the market looking shaky, I would personally rather see the awaited news release from management before getting in myself... even if it then meant I had to pay up a little more.
Chance favors the prepared mind

Thanks tokyopua, I wasn't aware of that thread, I will see it with all my attention ;)

sorry for my english, but I don't have many chances to write in english back here in Portugal

Thanks for your post Dracull, I share your concerns. The trading strategy at 3 Stocks has changed/evolved so much over the 20 months of the site's life that we have to do one of two things:

1) Change the whole concept of the website, perhaps even the name;
2) Do a portfolio or something to reflect the initial spirit of www.3stocksonfire.org

I've talked to Ramsburg, we've opted for the second, a new short term trading portfolio will start tomorrow (but of course we'll keep this one exactly as it is).

Dracull

I applaud your reflection and decision, it's my strong conviction that with those two portfolios 3stocksonfire will rule the market and please both technical and fundamental players.

Cheers for 3stocksonfire!

Thanks Dracull, I hope you're right :) In business my philosophy is: «the costumer is always right!»

Moving on to DIET because this isn't the right place to talk about these matters as Tokyopua has started a thread on the Members Board for the issue.

Still, no news at DIET and the company still didn't say when it will release Q4 earnings and the date of the conference call. That's when to expect news on the merger between www.ediets.com and www.nutrio.com and the relaunch of the food delivery service. Well, it won't be later than February the 15th, unless they delay earnings.

An article was published on the general dieting group: Dieting Companies Rise After Analyst Begins Coverage of NutriSystem and Medifast at 'Buy'

I'll keep holding DIET.

David Randolph

DIET broke down below basonista's support line, so now the chart is bearish. My reasoning for holding this stock isn't technical.

Prides Capital isn't going to sell their 9,857,727 shares because a support was broken and I won't do it either.

Will keep holding DIET expecting the 4Q conference call.

David Randolph

Nothing new on DIET as the stock closed unchanged and there were no news out.

David Randolph

Still, no changed at www.ediets.com or www.nutrio.com. I expect positive news on the 4th quarter conference call.

I'll keep holding DIET, despite the technical weakness.

David Randolph

Hmm, I just visited www.ediets.com and it says the following:

Of course, the site being down is no good news, how can they sell with the website down, but, I wonder if this isn't related with the new www.ediets.com coming up online?

As you know, over the latest conference call, management said it would merge www.ediets.com and www.nutrio.com, to integrate the company's consumer and business services in just one website, so perhaps this is part of the process (I know full well that when you make deep changes to an website, there are always problems).

Anyway, if not now, there will be positive catalysts out on the next conference call, with the new website and the relaunch of the food delivery service.

I'll keep holding DIET.

No, not yet, everything is the same at www.ediets.com or www.nutrio.com.

Nice 2.82% rebound on Friday. I'll keep waiting for positive news over the 4th quarter 2006 results conference call and I'll continue holding DIET.

David Randolph

DIET closed unchanged. No news out since January the 11th. www.ediets.com looks the same. I'll keep holding DIET, expecting good news over the next couple of weeks.

David Randolph

DIET closed unchanged again and no news out, I'll keep holding.

David Randolph

DIET went down 4.88% yesterday in sympathy with NTRI, which fell 15% after releasing 4th quarter earnings. This doesn't make any sense, we wish DIET were similar or even meaningful competition to NTRI ::)

DIET's management is taking too long to deliver on its promise of merging www.ediets.com and www.nutrio.com into just one brand new website and it is also taking time to relaunch its meal delivery service, our big hope on this company.

In the meantime, the share price is eroding, and I'm already losing 26% on this trade, as it approaches some money management rules limits.

But, we're already in February, and the long awaited conference call is near, so I should hold for some more time, since I've been holding and losing for so long already.

I'll continue holding DIET.

David Randolph

DIET had a bit of a bounce from Wednesday's sell off. There were just a few changes to www.ediets.com, I like that "Find your Perfect Diet" banner.

I'll keep holding, expecting good news out of the following conference call.

David Randolph

Nothing new on www.ediets.com, www.nutrio.com and there were no press releases out during the weekend. We don't hear anything from DIET since January the 11th.

Technically the stock is asleep with just 68,200 shares traded on Friday.

I'm expecting good news out of the next conference call, probably by the end of this month. Then I'll evaluate management's efforts to see if I should continue with this investment or else take the loss and move on.
