wow that's a BIG ascending triangle :o

short term looks bullish too.  nice chart ;D

I think HCBK is going to see 20% gains. With that long term ascending triangle all it needs to do is clear the neckline at 12.50....

They also offer a 2.40% dividend which is likely to be raised after such stellar earnings.

Still hovering around 12.50 - very close to breakout levels. Banking conference coming up, could give this one a boost.

As Cramer would say: "BUY BUY BUY!"

Hey Calvern:
A newsletter that I subscribe to just came out with a recommendation today for HCBK.
A buy above $12.54, with a $14 1st target, a $17 second target, and an $11.75 stop loss.
You'll probably see some movement in the stock on Thursday.  As you said, time to load up.

trade it like you mean it!

HCBK is a banking stock with sound management and great earnings. Secondly, its an aquisition target since it so effiecient. (see the powerpoint slides in the post above)

  • Technical View: Ascending triangle breakout area. Above 13.00 is a clear breakout...

    The risk/reward is outstanding

Paying a 2.40% dividend, so it should be somewhat stable.

  • Conservative target of 10-15% gains from here. I see 20%+ for 2006....

We'll see what happens - I love the ascending triangles.

New 52-week high! Looks like $14.00 is right around the corner. HCBK looks like a great long term investment with a solid dividend yield.

Great Earnings Release!

Hudson City Says 1Q Earnings Rose As Higher Assets Offset Squeezed Margins

PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) -- Hudson City Bancorp Inc. said first-quarter earnings rose as the bank offset tightening margins with increased mortgage-loan activity.

The bank said net income rose 21.5 percent to $75.2 million, or 13 cents per share, versus $61.9 million or 11 cents per share from the year-ago quarter. Analysts polled by Thomson Financial projected earnings of 14 cents per share.

Net interest income, or earnings from interest on deposits and loans, rose 25.3 percent to $157.7 million in the quarter. Interest rate margins fell to 2.17 percent from 2.45 percent the year before as rising short-term rates have combined with stagnant long-term rates to squeeze margins, the company said.

Hudson City said it is combating the unfavorable lending environment by shifting more assets to shorter-term investments and variable-rate mortgages. The bank increased total loans to $16.03 billion from $15.06 billion last year.
Non-interest income fell to $1.3 million from $3.9 million.

Great dividend and capital gains to go with this one!

Anything about the chart look interesting to you? (see red circle)

hmmm...what could all that volume be about. I think a takeover/buyout is around the corner!

Yeah that is an interesting volume line there. Nothing up or down just large volume.

This stock was also featured a fews days ago in (I think) The Candlestick newsletter.

Seems to be riding it's 50 - not a bad thing - might bounce up.

Sorry my funds are tied up else where.

Best of Luck
