There are 5.2 million in short interest, this could be a significant squeeze on a drug approval.

Antigenics, Armen Raise $26 Million for Cancer Drug Development
2008-01-09 07:01 (New York)

By Luke Timmerman
Jan. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Antigenics Inc., the developer of a therapy that stimulates the immune system to fight cancer, raised $26 million from private investors, including $5.1 million from its chief executive officer.

Antigenics agreed to sell 8.7 million shares at $3, which is 40 percent higher than its closing price yesterday, the New York- based biotechnology company said in an e-mailed statement. For each share purchased, investors got one warrant, which gives them the right to buy another share at $3 for 10 years. Antigenics CEO Garo Armen paid more than market price to invest so he could get the warrants, which should be valuable if the company reaches its goals this year, he said in a telephone interview. Antigenics aims to win clearance from Russian regulators to market its first product, Oncophage, before the end of June. It could generate $100 million in sales if approved.

``We're making a bet that there's significant upside to this company,'' Armen said. Antigenics fell 1 cent to $2.15 yesterday in Nasdaq Stock Market composite trading. The stock has gained 9.7 percent in the past 12 months.

The Invus Group, a New York-based fund with $4 billion under management, was the lead investor in the round. Oracle Partners also participated.
