update WDPT:

A hammer formed on Thursday that bounced from the 20ema and closed above the 9ema and the mini breakout.  WDPT is still consolidating its breakout from the triangle.  As Michael said up there  ;) WDPT is destined for the AMEX.. and the numbers look good.  For now we will wait this one out.. I am removing the close below exit and replacing it with a evaluate on close data.  This means that we have a hold on WDPT and for now will only sell based on close data analysis.

------
Position: bought WDPT @ 3.09 on 4/06/2006
Order: Hold
Exit: evaluate on close
Target: n/a

G, can you provide an update on this one?  I realize there must be no change in plan yet but what do you think of this basing in 2.9s and the low volume?

I'm been spoiled by gshf  ;)

Thanks!

Hey garym  ;)  yea you're right.. everytime I go to update WDPT there is just nothing to say  :D.. it ends up being that this should really be in the 3SOV portfolio (like Michael thought  :-X)

What we have here is just a nice consolidation above a strong triangle break.  I was hoping for more sustained volume.. but this light volume has created mostly horizontal movement high up in the pattern.. I consider this bullish and potentially explosive when volume rushes in.

The last time I spoke with Michael about WDPT he mentioned that the AMEX listing may be the next news we hear.  >:D

Here is a chart:

G,

On this chart you posted for WDPT. Is that a darvas box i see (the one you draw at top of chart to the right)? The breakout above the box being 3.15 (more or less). Please let me know if that's what you see and if it is I guess that's what we're waiting for (a breakout above that box)

Thnx,

Nope not a Darvas box.. in fact I never heard the term till you mentioned it.  Just our short-term range box... and anyway that is what we are waiting for  ;).

I think Ultra is refering to Nicholas Darvas(Autrhor, How I made 2000,000 in the stock market). Darvas refers to successive trading ranges in upward moving stock as boxes and trades these boxes.

Yeah, Thats exactly what I was refering to. I think G might have drawn a Darvas box with out even knowing it, cause it sure looks like one to me. I may be wrong, it's been a while since I read the book and I don't really use the technic in trading.

The reality (after listening to the filing CC) is that it may be a 3rd-4th Quarter value play if AMEX news does not move it near term.
Just one opinion, do the research

is that the reason for the drop:

??? ???

will there be a stop defined by 3SoF?

cheers
O.

Interesting prospectus and you are probably right that it is the reason for the drop today.

I am not sure this is warranted though (from a fundamental point of view!). Basically all the large shareholders have decided to sell all or part of their shares in Widepoint. Now that sounds alarming but also very strange. I wouldn't be surprised if this is connected with the AMEX listing. They might want to make all or part of their shares available when the stock is tranferred to AMEX.

This is purely speculation and we will let the market decide. Even though the stock is fundamentally very attractive the drop today was technical damaging. We will therefore set a stop on WDPT at 2.55. This is below the strong support at 2.6.

I hope we will not make use of the stop.  I would hate to see a blood bath given the low volume.

...set a stop on WDPT at 2.55

...which brings me back to the hitherto unanswered question: which broker allows a stop loss order on OTC stocks? So far, I have determined that Ameritrade, E*Trade and Scottrade do not.

I use Etrade, I dont seem to have a problem setting a stop limit order.

With Ameritrade you need to set a trade trigger.
