MIVT's Proprietary Stent Coating Technology Completes Major Long-Term Animal Study with Excellent Results; Six-Month Study Demonstrates Unparalleled Biocompatibility and Safety of MIVT HAp Coatings for Drug-Eluting Stent Applications

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2005--
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT) (FWB:MIV), a leading
developer of new generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug
delivery systems, announced today that a pivotal long-term animal
study of its novel stent coating technology has been concluded, with
results that were unequivocally successful in demonstrating the
coating's excellent biocompatibility and safety.
The 6-month study, performed by Center for Research in
Cardiovascular Interventions of the Methodist Hospital Research
Institute, an independent research organization, indicated that MIVT's
Hydroxyapatite-based coatings were excellent candidates for advanced
drug-eluting stent coatings.
Dr. Greg L. Kaluza, MD, scientific director of the CRCI at the
Methodist Hospital Research Institute, was the lead investigator for
the study. Dr. Fred J. Clubb, Jr. of Texas Heart Institute served as a
study pathologist.
"The study's results are particularly encouraging for several
reasons," said Dr. Kaluza. "The polymeric stent coatings that are now
widely used are increasingly criticized as a suboptimal solution,
because many of them may elicit prolonged foreign body response and
foster platelet deposition which may in turn trigger in-stent
thrombosis," he said. "In contrast, the Hydroxyapatite coating we
studied is built entirely of a mineral native to the human body and as
such may have a long-term biocompatibility advantage."
The results of this recently completed study indicate this coating
may be safely used as a drug-eluting platform since it may be expected
from the present study that the Hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating will
remain inert in the arterial wall even long after the drug is
completely eluted. The well-known long-term neutral effects and
natural absorption of HAp coatings from orthopedic and dental implants
strongly reinforce this belief. The HAp coating with microporous
structure is expected to enable effective drug elution without ever
involving any polymer, a design concept that is currently viewed as
superior and the most attractive for drug-eluting stents."
"We now have a comprehensive set of data demonstrating that the
ultra-thin Hydroxyapatite coating with a potential for use in
non-polymeric and composite drug-eluting systems selected for this
study has excellent biocompatibility at all three studied time points,
up to as long as six months of observation," said Dr. Kaluza. "The
safety profile of the studied coating is exemplary and appears at
least on par with stainless steel stent surface, which remains a
benchmark whose biocompatibility has not been surpassed by any coating
to date."
Stents are devices implanted in the arteries to prop open the
blood vessels and maintain healthy blood flow to the heart and
throughout the body. MIVT has developed a next-generation line of
coatings based on a substance called Hydroxyapatite (HAp), to create
both passive and drug-eluting coatings designed to eliminate many of
the serious problems that are associated with current generations of
stent coatings.
"The study provided critical long-term data that reinforced our
preliminary research that has indicated the exceptional safety and
biocompatibility of our proprietary coating technologies," said Alan
Lindsay, CEO of MIVT. "The uncompromised biocompatibility stands
behind the potential of MIVT's HAp coating technologies and their
expected therapeutic advantages over the existing coatings and stent
technologies currently available to the biomedical industry."
The successful results of the animal study will enable MIVT to
plan future clinical trials to continue to advance its research and
product development programs for the multi-billion-dollar global stent
marketplace.
The study was conducted in a standard model of porcine coronary
arteries and utilized angiography, intravascular ultrasound and
histology to evaluate tissue response to HAp-coated stents in
comparison to identical stainless steel stents. The study was
performed in compliance with GLP (Good Laboratory Practice)
guidelines, CE-Mark and FDA requirements.
MIV Therapeutics is developing a diverse suite of HAp coating
formulas to enable the surface of stents and other implanted devices
to virtually mimic the natural state of structurally-sound 100%
biocompatible and bio-active tissue. Hydroxyapatite, unlike polymer
coatings, is naturally derived and found in such hard tissues and
bioceramic materials as human bone and teeth. Research has indicated
that MIVT's HAp coatings do not trigger the various adverse and
inflammatory reactions that are often associated with implantation of
polymer-coated stents and other foreign substances. HAp coatings are
also expected to reduce the risk of thrombogenic (blood clotting)
events attributable in some instances to polymer-coated stents. Some
of the most recent information presented at the TCT 2005 conference
estimated that thrombogenicity was identified in 20,000 cases of
implanted drug-eluting stents to-date, resulting in approximately
8,000 premature deaths.

MIV Therapeutics Reports Highly Favorable Results in Preclinical Study of Innovative Stroke Prevention Device; Unique Implantable Anti-Stroke Device Progress on Track for Approval and Potential Commercialization
12/2/05

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec 02, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
MIV Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCBB: MIVT) (FWB: MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems, today announced highly favorable results demonstrated by preclinical studies of a unique filtration device designed to prevent strokes and other serious complications that can result from common cardiac procedures and other causes.

Called the Aortic Embolic Protection Device (AEPD), this implantable instrument is designed for implantation in the aorta -- the main artery providing blood supply to the brain. Once positioned, the AEPD functions as a deflector and filter to prevent migration of embolic particles and blood clots that can obstruct or block blood vessels supplying the brain, and thus prevent strokes that can result in brain damage, disability or death. Stroke is the third leading cause of death and the leading cause of severe disability in the world.

The study was designed to measure the device's safety and to confirm critical positioning and performance following implantation in the aorta. The results of the study performed on sheep under varying conditions are considered medically significant, and reinforce the device's potential as a viable preventive tool to fight strokes in cardiac patients.

MIVT's SagaX subsidiary is developing the AEPD stroke-prevention device.

"We're excited by this pivotal data from the ongoing preclinical studies being conducted on our novel stroke prevention device," said Dr. Dov Shimon, CEO of SagaX, and a renowned heart surgeon who invented the Company's stroke-preventing technology. "The results provide further validation of the life-saving potential of our proprietary devices for cardiac patients. Our technology is at the cutting-edge of scientific development in the prevention of cardio-embolic stroke, but the success of our stroke-prevention devices is rooted in their functional simplicity and ease of use."

The animal studies with the AEPD are being performed in the Animal Heart Catheterization Laboratory of the Hadassah University Hospital in Jerusalem, Israel, under the stewardship of Dr. Chaim Danenberg, a Senior Cardiologist, and Dr. Haim Lotan, the Chairman of the Department of Cardiology. These advanced exploratory studies pave the way to further full-scale animal and human trials and ultimately the FDA approval process and commercialization.

News sources have recently reported that the global market for implantable stroke prevention devices is expanding rapidly worldwide, and could grow into a potential $500 million to $1 billion market segment in the next few years. MIVT is committed to capitalizing on that marketplace opportunity for high growth revenue with its proprietary AEPD stroke prevention technology.

It is anticipated that following further successes in preclinical tests and clinical human trials, a first-generation device could be approved and successfully commercialized within relatively short period of time.

"We're extremely pleased with the very promising performance of the aortic protection device in all of the bench and animal model studies performed thus far and we are looking forward to further development and testing," said Alan Lindsay, CEO and president of MIV Therapeutics. "We believe the AEPD can help to reduce the threat of disabling or fatal strokes for cardiovascular patients and other patients in the high risk category for stroke."

MIVT Invited to Lecture on Proprietary Biocompatible Coatings for Implanted Medical Devices and Drug Delivery Systems
Thursday March 2, 3:30 am ET
Company Scientist Presents Data on Next Generation Coatings and Applications for Localized Treatment of Diseases

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 2, 2006--MIV Therapeutics Inc. (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, announced that one of its chief scientists presented a lecture at the University of Washington detailing recent research findings on the company's innovative drug delivery systems designed to improve the performance of currently available cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices and the targeted treatment of cardiovascular and other chronic diseases.

Prof. Tom Troczynski, VP of Coatings at MIVT presented the lecture entitled "Advances in Hydroxyapatite-Based Bio-Ceramic and Composite Thin Films for Implant Surface Modification and Drug Delivery," to the Faculty of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington, in Seattle WA, on Feb. 13, 2006.

Prof. Troczynski's presentation focused on the science of wet chemical technologies behind the novel ultra-thin and micro-thin HAp-based bio-ceramic coatings and drug delivery systems that MIVT has developed for cardiovascular stents, other implantable medical devices and localized drug delivery for the treatment of chronic diseases.

MIVT has developed a family of novel HAp-based device coatings and drug delivery systems that provide the highest level of performance, while avoiding or counter-measuring serious medical and biocompatibility problems demonstrated by the coating technologies of current drug delivery systems. A comprehensive range of animal trials by MIVT has confirmed research that MIVT's biocompatible HAp coatings do not trigger the adverse bodily reactions such as restinosis, thrombosis (dangerous blood clotting) and biocompatibility problems that are causing some concern in the medical implantable device marketplace.

Initial studies have confirmed that the HAp polymer-free coatings can be successfully used for the targeted delivery of anti-inflammatory and other drugs for orthopedic and cardiovascular applications. The delivery of localized therapies to other organs of the body is also under intense investigation and is expected to deliver breakthrough solutions for the treatment of many chronic diseases including Cancer. MIVT believes that the future treatment of diseases will rely heavily on the novel HAp-based drug delivery systems and novel polymer-free drug delivery systems developed by the company.

Prof. Troczynski also reviewed the HAp-based products' demonstrated ability to maintain structural and functional integrity and performance through deployment in the body and during long-term use following implantation.

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Washington is recognized as one of the world's top providers of education in the materials field. "The direct interaction of faculty and research staff from different universities and scientific institutions is a powerful mechanism for the advancement of our fundamental and applied knowledge of complex biomaterials systems," said Prof. Troczynski. "The proximity of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering to our laboratories at UBC in Vancouver makes such contacts particularly attractive to both organizations. We have hosted the MSE researchers and faculty in the past and we will benefit from this continuous learning process as we develop new applications for our coating and drug delivery technologies in the important cardiovascular and orthopedic fields."

MIV Therapeutics Subsidiary, SagaX Inc., Accelerates Development of Surgical Stroke Prevention Device Towards Commercialization
Friday March 10, 4:01 pm ET
First Generation Device Could be Ready for Clinical Use Within 14 Months

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 2006--MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV) a leading developer of next generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, has announced that it has accelerated development of a novel stroke-preventing implantable device for surgical patients, and may have the device ready for clinical use within 14 months, subject to regulatory approval.

The Aortic Embolic Protection Device (AEPD) is being developed by MIVT's wholly owned subsidiary, SagaX Inc., located in Herzlyia, Israel. SagaX is a developer of advanced biomedical technology, including the embolic protection devices for the prevention of strokes. MIVT recently announced the strengthening of the SagaX research and development program with the appointments of four new key executives and scientists.

The AEPD under development at SagaX is a unique and proprietary filter/deflector device designed specifically to prevent cardioembolic stroke following heart surgery. It works by diverting particles in the bloodstream that might otherwise reach the brain and cause strokes that can cause irreversible damage to the delicate tissue of the brain. The AEPD device is designed for easy insertion and positioning in patients by surgeons during the operation, and can be removed at the end of the procedure.

SagaX Inc. is also developing further generations of anti-embolic devices to protect the brain, for applications including trans-catheter procedures and for patients with high risk for cardioembolic stroke, such as those that have had a previous stroke, rhythm disturbance or received a prosthetic valve. The AEPD and similar devices could become commonplace in the near future, enhancing the success of cardiac procedures, and more importantly, improving the individual patient's health, longevity and quality of life.

The highly innovative SagaX AEPD device is designed to significantly reduce stroke occurrence, following heart operations. The occurrence of significant cardioembolic stroke following surgery is estimated between one and four percent, although minor neurological deficit is seen in as much as 15% to 30% of surgical patients.

Stroke is the third leading cause of death, and the leading cause of disability. According to a recent publication of the American Heart Association (AHA), each year about 700,000 Americans experience a new or recurrent stroke. About 500,000 of these are first attacks, and 200,000 are recurrent attacks. It is also stated that the estimated direct and indirect cost of stroke in the US alone for 2006 is $57.9 billion.

On his recent trip to the facilities in Israel, Alan Lindsay, Chairman and CEO of MIVT, said: "I am extremely impressed with the rapid development of this life saving technology. I am especially pleased with the quality and dedication of our talented team in Israel."

Recent reports indicate that the global market for implantable stroke prevention devices is expanding rapidly worldwide, and will grow into a $500 million to $1 billion market segment in the next few years.

I was doing a little reading over the weekend and came across this possible gem (MIVT) and just bought some this morning:

MIV Therapeutics (MIVT) is developing a next-generation line of advanced biocompatible coatings for passive and drug-eluting applications on cardiovascular stents and a broad range of other implantable medical devices. The Company's ultra-thin coating formulation is designed to protect surrounding tissue from potentially harmful interactions with bare metallic stents. The Company's unique ultra-thin coating platform is derived from an organic material called hydroxyapatite (HAp) which has demonstrated excellent safety and biocompatibility in vivo animal studies. Hydroxyapatite is a bioactive porous material that makes up the bone mineral and matrix of teeth and is widely used today as a bone substitute material and for coatings on implantable fixation devices in orthopedic, dental and other applications. The Company's novel polymer-free drug eluting technologies based on Hydroxyapatite could also provide an attractive alternative to current polymer-based drug eluting coatings on the stent market, which have been associated with undesirable medical effects. The Company's drug eluting coatings are additionally designed to suit a broad range of implantable medical devices that could benefit from highly customizable drug release profiles. MIVT has a Collaborative Research Agreement (CRA) with the University of British Columbia and has received Government grant for its research program on the "Development of Novel Drug Eluting Composite Coatings for Cardiovascular Stents," under the National Research Council-Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP). Under this sponsorship, the Company is expected to complete its drug-eluting research and development program and to reach product commercialization stage.

MIV Therapeutics to Hold Investor Conference Call at 12:00 PM Eastern Tuesday, July 11
Monday July 10, 1:42 pm ET
Company President Mark Landy to Update Investors on Key Data Validating MIVT's Program to Create Safer, Better Coronary Stents

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 10, 2006--MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, will host an investor conference call tomorrow, Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at 12:00 PM Eastern, to discuss a growing body of evidence that validates the Company's innovative program to make a safer generation of coronary stents based on its unique, bio-friendly coating technologies.

During the call, Company President Dr. Mark Landy will discuss reports published in both scientific journals and the mainstream media that further validates the medical and marketplace demand for improved stent coatings.

Stents are used to prop open coronary arteries that have been narrowed as a result of vascular disease; MIVT has developed and is testing for commercialization a new generation of stents with proprietary coating based on an organic substance called hydroxyapatite (HAp), which can be found in human bone and teeth. MIVT's unique HAp-based stent coatings are specifically designed to prevent the adverse negative reactions to existing stent implants that themselves can cause blood clots, heart attacks and other serious complications.

Dr. Landy will discuss some of the important research about the potential dangers, including the risk of death, posed by current generations of coronary stents. They will contrast those reports with an increasing body of scientific data and new independent studies that demonstrates the superior safety potential of MIVT's unique stent coating solutions. Following their presentation, Dr. Landy will respond to callers' questions.

"We believe MIV Therapeutics' unique HAp-based coating solutions will provide a crucial and safe alternative for patients," said Dr. Landy. "We look forward to discussing the most recent research surrounding and confirming HAp safety studies, as we continue to execute our strategy to create a new generation of improved technologies within the multi-billion-dollar stent industry."

To participate in the conference call, investors within the United States may dial (888) 428-4478 in advance of the call. When prompted, please tell the operator that you would like to connect to the MIV Therapeutics conference call. International callers can dial (612) 332-0228. Participation in the conference call is free of charge to all interested investors.
