I have my alert set at 9.69 and am waiting to see for a block trade.
Looking if this will go above 9.74
Go in with upside momentum or wait for stock to tank and buy close to support.

The latest news was an upgrade.
The income according to the information I got from yahoo has been going up for 3 consecutive years.
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=MIPS&annual
So far, the market makers are still holding back the stock and not giving way yet -  probably, until after they get hit with blocks.
Bear trap at 9.63 or is this going down? (minute chart)
I guess if it goes down, could be a dead cat bounce at 9.02
The overall trend is still telling me - it's uptrending - for now.
Still waiting for those blocks.
These Market Makers are really good in shaking out people.
Go in with upside momentum or wait for stock to tank and buy close to support.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan 29, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- MIPS Technologies, Inc. (MIPS, Trade), a leading provider of industry-standard architectures, processors and analog IP for digital consumer, home networking, wireless, communications and business applications, today reported consolidated financial results for its second quarter fiscal 2009 ended December 31, 2008. All financial results are reported in U.S. GAAP unless otherwise noted.

Revenue for the second quarter was $26.4 million, essentially flat compared with both the prior quarter revenue of $26.2 million and to the $26.5 million reported in the second fiscal quarter a year ago. The Q2 sequential revenue increase was driven by increased revenues from royalties offset by slightly lower license revenue.

Revenue from royalties was $13.0 million, an increase of $1.1 million or 9 percent from the prior quarter and $0.4 million or 3 percent from the $12.5 million reported in the second quarter a year ago. The sequential increase in royalty revenue was a result of higher licensee unit volumes compared with the prior quarter. Licensee units grew 13 percent sequentially to 126 million units and 18 percent on a year to year basis. Contract and license revenue was $13.4 million, a decrease of 7 percent from the $14.4 million reported in the prior quarter and a 4 percent decrease from the $13.9 million reported in the second quarter a year ago.

Total operating expense, excluding restructuring charges, declined $4.2 million to $15.1 million from $19.3 million in the previous quarter, mainly reflecting the cost control measures implemented earlier in the year.

The Company's fiscal Q2 2009 GAAP net income was $5.0 million or $0.11 per share on a diluted basis. This compares with a net loss of $7.0 million or $0.16 per basic and diluted share in the prior quarter and a net loss of $12.1 million or $0.28 per share in the second quarter a year ago. This marks the Company's first GAAP profitable quarter since the fourth quarter fiscal 2007.

Non-GAAP net income in the second quarter of fiscal 2009, which excludes the effect of equity based compensation expense, restructuring costs, and certain costs related to the acquisition of Chipidea, was $8.5 million or $0.19 per diluted share. This represents a significant improvement when compared to the non-GAAP net income of $1.5 million or $0.03 per diluted share in the prior quarter and a net loss of $2.9 million or $0.07 per diluted share in the second quarter a year ago. The tables below provide a reconciliation of non-GAAP measures reported in this release to the corresponding GAAP results.

The Company's Q2 2009 ending cash balance was $20.5 million, an improvement of $4.3 million from the previous quarter including approximately a $0.6 million outflow related to the restructuring. Total outstanding debt was also reduced by $1.6 million to $16.5 million during the quarter.

"I am pleased with the results of our Processor Business; our cost controls, GAAP net income and positive cash flow, all of which contributed to the strengthening of our balance sheet during Q2," said John Bourgoin, president and CEO. "We are actively managing our costs worldwide to ensure the overall financial health of MIPS during these challenging economic times," added Bourgoin.

Mips Technologies (MIPS), spiked 33% Tuesday after scorching past analysts' Q3 earnings and sales views. It has yet to form its first base above $10.

Chip Group Gains On Q3 Surprises...
Tech issues firmly countered the market's losses Wednesday, with the data storage, Internet networking and fabless semiconductor groups posting solid advances.

The fabless chip group, ranked No. 43 in Wednesday's IBD, rode the heels of a bullish Q3 report from Broadcom (BRCM).

Net income soared 275% to 60 cents a share. Analysts' consensus called for 55 cents. Revenue jumped 44% to $1.81 billion vs. consensus views of $1.75 billion.

The company boosted its Q4 revenue guidance to $1.8 billion to $1.9 billion. Consensus forecasts had called for $1.75 billion.

Broadcom surged 12% on the report. That snapped it above a 37.83 buy point in a three-month cup-with-handle base.

Chip stocks in general had taken a beating since the end of April as investors' views dimmed toward an economic recovery. But they began to recover in September in sync with the market. The fabless group rose over the past week, climbing back into the top 50 rankings.

Research firm iSuppli cut its chip industry revenue growth forecasts from 35% to 32% at the end of September. The growth is a rebound off levels that had just started to recover in 2009. Next year's growth: a meager 5%, the El Segundo, Calif.-based researcher says.

Former leaders such as Marvell Technology (MRVL) and Atheros Communications (ATHR) must climb out of deep corrections.

ARM Holdings (ARMH) also gave up leadership status, at least for the time being, diving below its 10-week moving average.

Broadcom is the group's clearest leadership candidate. Others include Singapore-based Avago Technologies (AVGO), which cleared a cup-with-handle base. It is generating solid EPS, sales and margin growth.
