ALAMEDA, Calif., Jun 09, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- InSite Vision Incorporated (ISV, Trade) - announced today that it has completed an in-vivo keratitis study in rabbits in collaboration with University Researchers. The results indicate that InSite Vision's AzaSite(TM) anti-infective (1% azithromycin) is effective in treating bacterial keratitis induced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, a highly virulent gram-negative bacterium. Upon application of an AzaSite eyedrop to the infected eyes, the bacterial count was reduced by over three orders of magnitude. The results in the animal model were comparable to the results obtained with a fourth generation fluoroquinolone and other products currently on the market in a similar animal model.

Additionally, a recently completed time-kill study also suggests that the AzaSite formulation will sterilize the ocular surface, thus minimizing the chance of bacterial contamination during ocular procedures. The AzaSite formulation containing the DuraSite drug delivery system, eradicated a large variety of virulent gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria within one hour of application. The gram-negative bacteria tested included Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Serratia marsescens, two highly virulent ocular pathogens.

"The results of this study appear to confirm our long-held view that AzaSite is a broad spectrum antibiotic," stated S. Kumar Chandrasekaran, InSite Vision's president and chief executive officer. "We have previously shown that AzaSite is effective against eye infections induced by a common gram-positive bacterium, Staphylococcus aureus. Now we have also shown in-vivo that it is effective against a very virulent gram-negative bacterium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Taken together, these results show that AzaSite not only can potentially compete with fourth generation fluoroquinolones in terms of efficacy, but it may provide the added advantage of a significantly reduced dosing frequency."

"The extended and effective spectrum of antimicrobial activity exhibited by the AzaSite formulation further enhances the AzaSite product profile as a potential ocular infective market leader," stated David Heniges, Vice President of Marketing and Commercialization.

About InSite Vision

InSite Vision is an ophthalmic company focused on ocular infections, glaucoma and retinal diseases. The Company's lead product is AzaSite, which targets infections of the eye. AzaSite contains the drug azithromycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic formulated with DuraSite(R), InSite Vision's patented drug-delivery vehicle, which offers the benefit of a less frequent, low-dosing regimen, attractive to both the eye-care patient and physician. The Company intends to seek to expand this "technology platform" to include additional indications and product options for the worldwide market.

In the glaucoma area, the Company has continued to focus genomic research on the TIGR gene, among other genes in its genomic portfolio. A portion of this research has been incorporated into the Company's commercially available OcuGene(R) glaucoma genetic test for disease management, which is a prognostic tool designed to detect a genetic marker (mt-1) in the promoter region of the glaucoma-related TIGR gene. Additional information can be found at www.insitevision.com.

This press release contains, among other things, certain statements of a forward-looking nature relating to future events or the future business performance of InSite Vision. Such as the effectiveness of azithromycin as a broad-spectrum antibiotic; AzaSite's ability to compete against other products including fourth generation fluoroquinolones, potential dosing frequencies, and the market potential of azithromycin. Such statements entail a number of risks and uncertainties, including but not limited to: the confirmation in humans of the animal model study results discussed in this release; InSite Vision's ability to enroll patients in and to complete future clinical trials for AzaSite; the results of these clinical trials; InSite Vision's ability to commence, complete and file a new drug application (NDA) with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for AzaSite, and receive approval from the FDA for the commercialization of AzaSite; InSite Vision's ability to obtain additional financing; InSite Vision's ability to adequately protect its intellectual property and to be free to operate with regard to the intellectual property of others; InSite Vision's ability to negotiate, enter into and maintain collaborations and commercial agreements with potential corporate partners; its ability to obtain market acceptance of its products and product candidates; its reliance on third parties for the development, marketing and sale of its products; its ability to expand its technology platform to include additional indications and patent options; and the effects of its expense control activities on its operations and product development. For a discussion of these and other factors that could cause actual events or results to differ from those anticipated by our forward-looking statements, see the discussion of risk factors detailed in InSite Vision's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including its annual report on Form 10-K and its quarterly reports on Form 10-Q. These risk factors may not be exhaustive. Any projections and forward looking statements in this press release are based on the limited information currently available to InSite Vision, which is subject to change. New risk factors may emerge from time to time, and InSite Vision cannot predict such new risk factors, nor can it assess the impact, if any, of such new risk factors on our business or events described in any forward-looking statements. InSite Vision Announces Positive Top-Line Results from First of Two Pivotal Phase 3 Clinical Trials
Wednesday November 30, 7:00 am ET
Pivotal Trial Succeeds in Reaching Primary Efficacy Endpoint of Clinical Resolution

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 30, 2005--InSite Vision Incorporated (AMEX:ISV - News) today announced positive top-line results from a pivotal phase 3 clinical trial of AzaSite(TM), a sterile, topical ophthalmic anti-infective solution containing 1.0% azithromycin formulated in DuraSite® (the Company's patented drug delivery system). In an international, controlled clinical trial, subjects with bacterial conjunctivitis (pink-eye) were treated with either AzaSite dosed twice a day for the first 2 days, followed by once a day for the next 3 days or 0.3% tobramycin dosed four times a day for 5 days. AzaSite demonstrated a clinical resolution rate of 80% as compared to 78% for tobramycin. This result shows that the clinical resolution rate of AzaSite is equivalent to tobramycin, the primary efficacy endpoint of the study, according to statistical criteria which were previously agreed to by the FDA. The bacterial eradication rate was also equivalent for both groups.

S. Kumar Chandrasekaran, Ph.D., InSite Vision's CEO stated, "The results of this phase 3 clinical trial demonstrate that AzaSite is effective against bacterial conjunctivitis using a significantly reduced dosing frequency. The clinical resolution rate of less frequently dosed AzaSite is comparable to the best selling ophthalmic antibiotic products. The reduced dosing frequency can lead to improved compliance, greater patient convenience and better therapeutic outcomes. This result is a major milestone achievement in the preparation for the AzaSite NDA filing in 2006."

Phase 3 study design

The phase 3 clinical trial was a double-blind, randomized, active-controlled study that enrolled patients ranging in age from 1 to 93 years with bacterial conjunctivitis. Patients with presumed bacterial conjunctivitis were enrolled on day 1 and a conjunctival culture was taken to demonstrate bacterial infection. All culture results were analyzed by a large central laboratory. The active control in the study was tobramycin, USP 0.3% ophthalmic solution, a broad-spectrum topical antibiotic. The treatment regimen lasted 5 days. The aim of the study was to show equivalent efficacy between patients dosed for 5 days with AzaSite versus tobramycin, AzaSite being less frequently dosed. There were a total of 47 clinical enrolling sites involved in the study; 41 in the United States and 6 in Latin America. A total of 746 subjects were enrolled in the study of which 316 had positive bacterial cultures. Among the culture positive subjects, 59% were pediatric and 41% were adult.

Treating bacterial conjunctivitis with AzaSite

The top line statistical analysis was performed on unblinded study data. Preliminary safety data from the phase 3 study showed that AzaSite was well tolerated in adult and pediatric patients. There were no reports of systemic drug sensitivity due to study medication. No serious adverse events were reported by the clinical sites. Ocular adverse events were minimal in frequency and equivalent between the two groups. Further, there were no reports of blurred vision related to the study medications. Further statistical analysis of the data is continuing. The final results will be presented in an upcoming international ophthalmic conference.

Conference Call

S. Kumar Chandrasekaran, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer will host a conference call beginning at 10:30 a.m. Eastern Time today to discuss these top-line clinical results and answer questions. Dr. Eugene E. Protzko, clinical instructor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a principal investigator in the clinical trial will present his perspective on the study and answer questions during the call.

Individuals interested in listening to the conference call may do so by dialing (800) 475-3716 for domestic callers or 719-457-2728 for international callers. A telephone replay will be available for 48 hours following the conclusion of the call by dialing 800-203-1112 for domestic callers or 719-457-0820 for international callers. Callers will have to enter the Replay Passcode: 2904045.

The live conference call will also be available via the Internet on the investor relations section of the Company's Web site at www.insitevision.com, and a recording of the call will be available for 90 days following the completion of the call.

InSite Vision Announces Second of Two Phase 3 Clinical Trials Results Meet Primary and Secondary Efficacy End Points
Tuesday March 14, 7:00 am ET
Preparations for AzaSite(TM) New Drug Application

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 14, 2006--InSite Vision Incorporated (AMEX:ISV - News) today announced top-line results from the second of two required phase 3 clinical trials to evaluate the safety and efficacy of AzaSite(TM) (1.0% azithromycin solution in DuraSite®) anti-infective eye drops in patients with bacterial conjunctivitis. In a study to show superiority of AzaSite relative to vehicle, patients treated with AzaSite had a significantly higher clinical resolution rate, the trial's primary efficacy end point and a significantly higher bacterial eradication rate, a secondary end point, than those receiving placebo. Importantly, the study also showed that AzaSite was safe and well tolerated. The data from which these top-line clinical results were drawn, will be reported at an upcoming ophthalmology conference.

S. Kumar Chandrasekaran, Ph.D., InSite Vision's CEO stated, "The completion of these two phase 3 clinical trials is a significant milestone for our company. The data demonstrates the success of our strategy to use the DuraSite platform to develop anti-infective therapies with reduced dosing frequency. The clinical resolution rate of less frequently dosed AzaSite is comparable to the best selling ophthalmic antibiotic products. The reduced dosing frequency can lead to improved compliance, greater patient convenience and better therapeutic outcomes. We look forward to presenting our data for scientific review and to the submission of our AzaSite NDA to the Food and Drug Administration this year."

Trial Design and Results

This second of two phase 3 trials was an international, double-blind, randomized, vehicle-controlled study that was conducted at 42 centers in the United States and 11 in Mexico and Central America. The trial enrolled 685 subjects of which 240 ranged in age from 1 to 16 years. Those subjects with confirmed bacterial conjunctivitis (pink-eye), a common infectious ocular disease, were evaluated for efficacy, whereas all subjects enrolled in the trial were evaluated for safety. Trial participants received eye drops of either placebo or AzaSite for 5 days. The drops were dosed twice a day for the first 2 days, followed by once a day for the next 3 days. Demographic characteristics were evenly distributed across treatment groups.

The Phase 3 trial was designed to compare the resolution of clinical signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis in subjects that had been treated with AzaSite versus those that had been treated with placebo. Top-line results showed that the clinical resolution rate, the trial's primary efficacy end point, was significantly higher in subjects treated with AzaSite than those treated with placebo (p less than 0.03). Furthermore, the bacterial eradication rate, the trial's secondary efficacy end point, was also significantly higher in the AzaSite treated group (p less than 0.001).

Preliminary safety data from the second phase 3 study showed that AzaSite was well tolerated in adult and pediatric subjects. There were no reports of systemic drug sensitivity due to study medication. No serious adverse events that were related to the study medications were reported by the clinical sites. Ocular adverse events were minimal in frequency and equivalent between the two groups. The statistical analysis of the entire dataset is still ongoing. The final results will be presented at an upcoming international ophthalmology conference.

About Bacterial Conjunctivitis

Bacterial conjunctivitis is a common ocular surface disease characterized by inflammation of the delicate skin and mucosa on the inside of the eyelids. The bacterial infections are contagious and generally accompanied by irritation, itching, foreign body sensation, watering, mucus discharge and redness (pink-eye). The bacterial form of the disease is more common in children than adults. In children, the most common bacterial species associated with acute conjunctivitis are Hemophilus influenzae, Streptococcus pnuemoniae, and Staphylococcus species. Among adults, bacterial conjunctivitis can be an important concern in contact lens wearers. The disease is self-limiting in most cases and usually resolves in 8-10 days. Topical antibiotics are often prescribed to control the public health risk of contagion and to shorten the duration of the disease.

With this chart it is a stock worth holding onto with only a trailing stop.
This stock is poised for much higher prices over the coming months after a
consolidation period here.Stochastic bouncing up out of oversold area, buy zone.

Going in and out of stocks is not a strategy that will generate the great profits you really want. Finding a winner and sticking with it until it hits a trailing stop is the way to Real earnings.

Recent Company Developments

On November 30, 2005 InSite Vision reported top line results from the first of two phase 3 clinical trials of AzaSite eye drops. AzaSite is a sterile, topical ophthalmic anti-infective solution containing 1.0% azithromycin formulated in DuraSite(R) (InSite Vision's patented drug delivery system). The multicenter study was randomized, double masked, and active-controlled. In this trial, designed to show comparability with the marketed eye drop, tobramycin, with respect to the resolution of bacterial conjunctivitis, AzaSite demonstrated a clinical resolution rate of 80% as compared to 78% for tobramycin.

In December 2005 and January 2006, InSite Vision announced that debt financing had been secured, which would allow data generation and preparation of its NDA planned to be submitted to the FDA. In closings held in December 2005 and January 2006, InSite Vision raised an aggregate of $6.3 million before expenses through the issuance of Senior Secured Notes and the issuance of warrants to purchase 1,260,000 shares of Common Stock at an exercise price of $0.82 per share. InSite Vision also issued a warrant to purchase 200,000 shares of Common Stock to the placement agent in the transaction.

On January 13, 2006, InSite Vision announced the completion of enrollment of the second phase 3 clinical trial for AzaSite. The trial was a randomized, double masked, multicenter study that included patients from 1 - 96 years of age. The goal of the second study was to demonstrate superiority of AzaSite as compared to a vehicle (a placebo that does not contain any active drug substance) in the clinical resolution of the bacterial conjunctivitis. Clinical resolution was the primary efficacy endpoint. A secondary endpoint was bacterial eradication. On March 14, 2006, top line results were reported from this second clinical trial. Patients treated with AzaSite had a significantly higher clinical resolution rate, the trial's primary efficacy end point and a significantly higher bacterial eradication rate, a secondary end point, than those receiving the vehicle.

On February 22, 2006 InSite Vision reported that two abstracts were accepted for presentation at the upcoming meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology at the Fort Lauderdale Convention Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to be held April 30 - May 4, 2006. The presentations will describe the results of the AzaSite vs. tobramycin clinical trial.

Technically, there was a bearish raising wedge formation which morphed into a head and shoulder formation.
Fundamentally, Investors are nervous since, Kumar had promised some kind of deal would be made by the end of June and there is only 8 more days left...

InSite Vision to Present Results From Second of Two Pivotal Phase 3 Clinical Trials
Thursday August 3, 9:00 am ET

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 3, 2006--InSite Vision Incorporated (AMEX:ISV - News), an ophthalmic company focused on ocular infections, glaucoma and retinal diseases, announced today the acceptance of two abstracts related to its second pivotal trial of the topical eye drop antibiotic, AzaSite (1% azithromycin in DuraSite®). The vehicle-controlled, prospective, multi-center, bacterial conjunctivitis trial showed AzaSite was superior to the vehicle in both clinical resolution of the signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis as well as bacterial eradication. The efficacy and safety data will be presented at the upcoming meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology in Las Vegas, Nevada to be held November 11 - 14, 2006. The presentation schedule is as follows:
Efficacy of Azithromycin 1% Eye Drops vs. Vehicle as First-Line Therapy for Bacterial Conjunctivitis, Mark Abelson, MD, Warren Heller, MD, and the AzaSite Clinical Study Group.
Safety and Tolerability of 1% Azithromycin Eye Drops as Anti-infective Therapy for Bacterial Conjunctivitis, Warren Heller, MD, Mark Abelson, MD, and the AzaSite Clinical Study Group.
AzaSite contains 1% azithromycin, a broad-spectrum antibiotic. InSite Vision Inc. has completed two phase 3 studies. The results of these studies were submitted to the FDA on June 28, 2006 as part of the NDA to gain regulatory approval of AzaSite.

The first phase 3 study was a double-blinded, prospective, active-controlled bacterial conjunctivitis trial. It showed AzaSite dosed twice daily for the first 2 days and once daily for 3 more days was equivalent to tobramycin dosed four times daily for 5 days in resolving clinical signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis and eradicating offending bacteria. The second phase 3 study was a double-blinded, prospective, vehicle-controlled trial. It showed AzaSite was superior to the vehicle in both clinical resolution of the signs and symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis and bacterial eradication. Both trials revealed a superior safety profile of AzaSite.

Kumar Chandrasekaran, Ph.D., InSite Vision's Chief Executive Officer, stated, "These clinical trial results support AzaSite's value proposition of established efficacy and coverage with the convenience and compliance of a once-a-day dosing regimen."

Oliver and fous,

Volume was lacking, but that was a Double Ascending Triangle breakout yesterday.  There's a little Ascending Triangle (August 7 - to yesterday's breakout) nested within the larger pattern.  Nice find.   I get about the same target as fous.  Applaud you guys.

Does this break of support at 1.80 does some technical damage

Se7en,

We never want to see a stock go back below a breakout because, obviously, we have to consider the possibility that we had a false breakout.  (We need a cursing face on the toolbar when that happens).

For example, if it's a false breakout, the Ascending Triangle might have "morphed" (changed) into a Bear Flag (the parallel lines drawn in red).

It isn't technically damaged at this point, but it would be if we take out the ascending line (blue) and the bottom of the "possible" Bear Flag (red)

Quote
even if it closes at1.80 or above?

As long as a stock closes at or above a breakout (1.80 in this case) I consider the target(s) still to be IN PLAY.

A close back below 1.80, the target goes ON HOLD until we see what's going on.  That's a "gut check" time when a target goes ON HOLD.  Do we still want to hold it?  What do we like about the stock, etc.  I sometimes "abandon ship" when a stock goes ON HOLD.

If the support that I mentioned (at about 1.65) gets broken, the upside target is CANCELLED, and we then would have a downside target IN PLAY, based on the measurement of the possible Bear Flag.

Oliver and fous,

Volume was lacking, but that was a Double Ascending Triangle breakout yesterday.

The lack of volume on the breakout is something that I would consider in the decision-making process.

I also would consider the fact that the 50DMA just had a Bearish Cross below the 200DMA a week ago, etc.

Good luck if you have it.

The Bullish Double Ascending Triangle breakout did, in fact, "morph" (change) into a Bear Flag.  :P

It isn't technically damaged at this point, but it would be if we take out the ascending line (blue)

The Ascending trendline broke to the downside on September 6.  :P

Quote
and the bottom of the "possible" Bear Flag (red)

The bottom of the Bear Flag broke on a gap down opening the next day, Septermber 7.  :P

Quote
If the support that I mentioned (at about 1.65) gets broken, the upside target is CANCELLED,

The upside targets were CANCELLED on the break of the Bear Flag.

Quote
and we then would have a downside target IN PLAY, based on the measurement of the possible Bear Flag.

The break of the Bear Flag put targets of 1.46 (the bottom of the Bear Flag) IN PLAY, and 1.21 IN PLAY.  The 1.46 target MADE.  The 1.21 target hasn't.  The September 27 low is 1.41

Math for the 1.21 target:

High of the Bear Flag: 1.97

Low of the Bear Flag: 1.46

1.97 - 1.46 = 0.51 points

The Bear Flag broke at 1.72 - 0.51 points = 1.21 IN PLAY

Targets don't always get MADE, like the Ascending Triangle targets that got CANCELLED when the Bear Flag formed, then broke to the downside, so we might not see the 1.21 target.  Just be aware, especially with 50/200 DMAs inverted, that it's still IN PLAY.

At today's low of 1.24, ISV is within pennies of a downside target IN PLAY.

From the false breakout  (Bull Trap) at 1.81, ISV is down 31.49%

From the Bear Flag break at 1.68, ISV is down 26.2%.

UGH.

I sold 1/2 of my position at 1.49 just before the close, after all that was a quick 20% profit.
Volume was kind of good but it ran so fast with no news (that I know of), plus it couldn't really break the 1.50 resistance and we also have 50 and 200 ema just above;so it was kind of risky not to take any profits off the table...

Coming off the 1.24 low, ISV initially got stopped at the red trendline resistance (Purple #2), but managed to get through it last Tuesday (Purple #4).  Unfortunately, that didn't hold up, and the pattern in purple is looking like a Bear Flag.

Wednesday's low was 1.48, just a hair below the 50DMA which is at 1.4976, then it recovered, to close at 1.56.  Friday, it hung around there on "no volume" post-holiday trading.  That's fine.

It looks like it wants to go higher, and take out near-term 1.65-1.67 resistance, doesn't it?  I'll post you the Ichimoku Kinko Hyo chart next, which indicates that ISV is well-positioned to move higher.

But, I think you're wise to protect your profits, in case it doesn't.

Good luck with your trade.  You've managed it very well.  ;)

bocasva,

Probably not a bad idea.  ;)

The 50DMA now is 1.496, just below yesterday's low of 1.50, so it held on right there.  Last Wednesday's low was 1.48, so if 1.47 gets printed today, good chance that ISV will head at least for the bottom of the Kumo (Cloud)/ the bottom of the Flag.

Data points for today, November 28:

1.425 is the bottom of the Kumo (Cloud)

1.404 is the bottom of the Flag (pattern in purple)

Good luck!  I hope it rallies for you.

Moving my stop to <1.50 on close to protect my profits.

I'm all for protecting profits, but you might want to rethink that stop.  You don't want to put it so tight that you get jiggled out of what looks to be a very nice play.  It's YOUR MONEY, so naturally, you decide what kind of risk you want to take, but see what you think of this:

1. ISV had a "false breakout" of an Ascending Triangle (pattern in blue) that morphed into a Bear Flag (see the chart that I posted to you before).

2. Then it came down for a "possible" Double Bottom, at 1.20 - 1.24.

3. After the first rally attempt off 1.24, ISV came back and found support at the 8-day (solid green) and 22-day (solid red), which had a Bullish Cross.  Nice.

4. MACD came back to its signal line on November 13, then banged higher the next day.  Nice.

5. The 13/21 RSIs, and the next pairing in the Fibonacci Sequence, the 21/34RSIs, both gave a Buy Signal on November 16, on the print of 1.49 (just below your stop, but that might get tested one more time, and you'll be stopped out).

6. On the current selloff, the RSIs have come into Bullish Synchronicity again, only this time, the next pairing in the Fibonacci Sequence, the 34/55RSIs also have come into Bullish Synchronicity.  A print of 1.59 here is a Buy Signal.  ISV closed at 1.57.

7. MACD went up through the zero line on November 20, came back toward its signal line during the current selloff, then ticked higher yesterday.  Nice.

8. The rally off the 1.24 Double Bottom to 1.65 established the second data point for the 1.67 - 1.65 neckline of a Bullish Inverse H&S.  The current selloff is the Right Shoulder.

Although this has been somewhat of a nail-biter for you, wanting to see 1.50 hold to protect your nice gain, and also wanting to see that danged thing BREAK OUT, this selloff has been very purposeful and won't have been for naught if that 1.67-1.65 neckline gets taken out to the upside.

Purposeful, in that the technicals are "in gear" for a rally, the Right Shoulder of the Bullish Inverse H&S is near completion, and ISV is "good to go" on the upside, on a breakout above 1.67-1.65.

If it does break out, 2.08 will be IN PLAY.  Math is on the chart.

If 2.08 gets MADE, that also will be a breakout of a W-Bottom, above the August 30 high of 1.97, which would be a larger pattern breakout, and which would put a higher target IN PLAY.  We can discuss that "if/when..."

Back to your stop: YOUR MONEY, but given the Bullish factors here, you might want to give it another few pennies.  The low of the Left Shoulder is 1.41, so this Right Shoulder should NOT go below that.

Good luck!  I'd love to see this thing take off for you.  You've done a very nice job on it.  Applause.

Bocasva,

I like this chart so well, and like the fact that the 1.59 Buy Signal got printed on this morning's move to 1.62, that I decided to violate one of my rules (Don't Buy Illiquid Stocks), and put in an order to buy when ISV came back to fill the morning gap at BID 1.56...ASK 1.57.

My order is for ALL OR NONE at 1.57.  You can see on the quote chart to the left that those jokesters IMMEDIATELY moved the stock to BID 1.57...ASK 1.59.  That's why I hate to play illiquid stocks.  They toy with you on the spread, and move the BID...ASK up on you (or down, if you're trying to sell).

At any rate, I'll leave my order in for 1.57, which should create a floor for you.  :D  >:D

ISV currently is BID 1.58...ASK 1.60

They're having fun, toying with me.  ;D

Melf,
I know what you're talking about....I also hate playing hide and seek.  Low volume stocks are harder/riskier to play, I usually buy limit AON at prior conservative known supports running the risk of not buying in at all but also limiting the risk and maximising the reward in case I get in.

Best of luck to you Melf.

Bocasva,

VERY wise of you.

I was watching trading in MDLK yesterday, a stock that trades only 8,000 a day!  I've owned it for a long time, and noticed that a couple of 100,000 share blocks traded at 5.18 at 12:36PM, and at 5.20 at 12:38PM, and that the stock printed a six-year high, at 5.40.

Hmmm-mmm...it looked like something was up.  That's HUGE volume for this stock.

Well, something else that was up, was that with the stock BID 5.05...ASK 5.20 (lousy spread) some poor guy got filled on 200 shares at 4.73, nowhere near the quote!!

That's awful.  On 200 shares, he "only" got taken for $64, but I view that nonsense as no different than getting mugged on the street.

Sheesh!  >:(

Anyway, I agree with you on passing on the trade, rather than getting yanked around like that.  And, speaking of getting yanked around...

ISV currently is BID 1.59...ASK 1.60.  They're not going to let me have it at 1.57.  :(  >:D

Good luck!  I'll be cheering for you if I see 1.65-1.67 get knocked out to the upside.  ;)

ISV is right there, champing at the bit for a breakout.  The high so far is 1.65. Volume is very low, only 15,000 shares in the first 25 minutes of trading, but if you get a print of 1.68, volume "should" come in.

ISV currently is BID 1.63...ASK 1.64

Bocasva and Setravis,

I just realized that the chart of ISV is very similar to that of Holygrale's AUY, and potentially as bullish.

First, AUY:

It had a Bullish Inverse H&S breakout (pattern in green) to 11.38, which ended up being a false breakout for the time being.

AUY then formed the Double Bullish Inverse H&S patterns (in green), and here's the key: that 11.38 high became the pivot (middle) of a BIG "W" bottom, which recently broke out.

Next, I'll show you ISV, and you'll see what I mean.
Title: Re: ISV...Sector: Healthcare***Industry: Biotechnology & Drugs
Post by: Melf Elf on December 05, 2006, 03:22:48 AM
The Ascending Triangle (pattern in blue) that had the false breakout in late August also could be seen as a Bullish Inverse H&S, depending upon how one wants to look at it, with those hits to the top of the Ascending triangle/neckline of an Inverse H&S at 1.80.

In either case it was a Bullish pattern, and a false breakout to 1.97 in late August, just like AUY had the false breakout to 11.38 in August.

If ISV can break out above 1.65-1.67 here, and rally to the 2.08 target that would be IN PLAY, picture what this chart will look like: 1.97 is the pivot (middle) of a BIG W-Bottom, just like  11.38 was the pivot in AUY, so that would be another bullish pattern breakout, above 1.97.

We'll see.  If ISV had more volume, I would have paid the 1.59 ASK last Friday.  They never filled me at my 1.57.

I'm still intrigued by the November 17 Bullish Inverse H&S breakout in the MACD.  If it's acting as a "lead indicator," correctly telegraphing an impending Inverse H&S breakout in ISV itself, it sure lead by a wide margin.  That breakout was nearly three weeks ago.

What's the delay here?  Get going, dang it!  :D

The print of 1.68 this morning is a breakout above the neckline, and a takeout of the prior high of 1.67.  Now it needs VOLUME, and upside follow-thru.

Bocasva,

ISV moved up a little, to 1.72, but no trades beween 11:07AM and 11:14AM (you have to look at this Time & Sales sheet to the left).

At 11:14AM, 9,000 shares were bought at the 1.72, and that seemed to bring in some buying interest.  ISV gapped up from 1.72 to 1.75 on another 9,300 shares, at 11:17AM.  Buyers are coming in, but again, you want to see more volume.

22 day average volume is 172,000 shares.

100 day average volume is 208,000 share, so you'd like to see at least 400,000 shares today, or better, for a breakout on two times daily volume.

So far, volume is 164,000 shares in the first 2½ hours of trading, so the run rate is on track for the 400,000 shares.

Looks good!  8)

1.65 should provide support for the next leg up.  Volume was above average but not quite enough to move it violently to the upside.

Bocasva,

My sentiments exactly.  What the heck was thaa-at?   :P

Volume was almost double average daily, which was good, but the close really should have been 1.68 or better, above the high of the 1.67-1.65 neckline, to consider it decisively broken out of the Inverse H&S pattern.

Players selling an obvious pattern breakout like that, all the way back to a 1.65 close, certainly wasn't what you wanted to see at all.

This 1.65 area "should be" support, as you say.  The low of the Right Shoulder is 1.50, which definitely shouldn't get taken down.  Technically, if 1.49 gets printed, that's considered to be confirmation that it was a false breakout.

I'm still cheering for you, but I want to kick this stock's #$%#.  :D  >:D

Good luck!

Bocasva,

My sentiments exactly.  :D

For a minute there, when it was printing the low 1.60s again, they had me worried that it was another false pattern breakout, like late August.

Volume could have been a little better, but it still was above average.  Pretty candle, though, closing at the high of the day, well above the neckline, and well above the Kumo (Cloud).

Because the 1.67 - 1.65 neckline has a slight downward slope, the technical breakout was above 1.64, so that puts a target 2.06 IN PLAY (math is on the chart), as long as ISV trades above that neckline breakout.

If 2.06 gets MADE, that's a takeout of 1.97, the pivot of the BIG W-Bottom, which would put a target of 2.70 IN PLAY.

Math:

1.97 - Pivot High

1.24 - (The more conservative of the 1.24 and 1.20 Double Bottom)

1.97 - 1.24 = 0.73 Points + 1.97 = Target: 2.70

Interestingly, the May 26, 2006 high was 2.70 exactly, so ISV would have the pattern strength and measured move off a breakout for a re-test.

Good luck!

Volume was just "okay" on the breakout.  Yesterday was an improvement to a little better than 2 times ADV, so that's good.  Blocks of 5,000 and 10,000 were able to go off with the added liquidity, so it attracts more buyers.

That's the problem that I had getting filled at 1.57 the other day.  No volume to speak of, so they moved the BID...ASK away from me.

Quote
My original target had been 1.96 but I just have to let the chart do the talking.

You will have a very nice paper gain at that price, so you might want to stick with your plan and take some there, to protect your profits, just in case it Double Tops near 1.97, and the 2.06 target doesn't get MADE, let alone the 2.70.  You never know...

I do think that if there's even a hint of good news from the company, the technical traders will have to like this chart, and will step in and buy a breakout.  They did a little bit of that the past few days, on the breakout of the  Bullish Inverse H&S.

Pretty chart.  A breakout above 1.97 on volume would be very pretty.

Continued good luck!

Oliver,

1.90305 is the top of an 8-Month Symmetrical Triangle (pattern in black) for today, February 16, so a print of 1.91 is a technical breakout, which would put 2.67 IN PLAY (math for the target is at the upper right on the chart).

Within the Symmetrical Triangle, ISV formed TWO Inverse H&S patterns (one in blue, the other in purple).  Both broke out; both were failures.  They now are nested within the large Symmetrical Triangle, so ISV is packing some punch, technically, if it can break out on the print of 1.91.

The prior highs of 1.97 and 1.93 obviously need to get taken out to the upside, but if volume comes in, this could be a "Gap and Go" opening, rather than a "Gap To Crap" since it's a technical breakout of a strong 8-month base.

Good luck!

Shorts should be gone.......
Could be a nice little base put in here @ the $1.40 area.
InSite's topical anti-infective product currently under NDA review by the FDA for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis; commonly referred to as "pink eye". The global market opportunity for topical, ocular anti-infective products currently exceeds one billion dollars.

Hi,

Buying large percentage of portfolio into ISV right now.

The call should bode very well.

Looking for 30 cent move near term, imo.

InSite Vision Reports Second Quarter 2007 Financial Results
Wednesday August 8, 4:05 pm ET

ALAMEDA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--InSite Vision Incorporated (AMEX:ISV - News), an ophthalmic therapeutics, diagnostics and drug delivery company, today reported financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2007.
Net income for the second quarter ended June 30, 2007 is $2.2 million, or $0.02 per share, compared to a net loss of $5.1 million or $ 0.06 per share for the second quarter 2006. The difference was attributed mainly to the recognition of deferred revenue related to the licensing of AzaSite(TM) (1% azithromycin ophthalmic solution) to Inspire Pharmaceuticals and the milestone payment, received following the signing of the agreement and approval of AzaSite(TM) by the FDA on April 27, 2007.

Research and development (R&D) expenses were $2.1 million for the second quarter 2007, compared to $2.8 million in the same quarter in 2006.

Selling, general and administrative (SG&A) expenses increased to $2.1 million in the second quarter 2007, compared to $1.7 million in the same quarter in 2006.

InSite Vision had cash and cash equivalents of $18.9 million at June 30, 2007, compared to $986,000 at December 31, 2006.

For the six months ended June 30, 2007, the Company reported a net loss of $416,000 or, $0.00 per share compared to a net loss of $10.5 million or $0.12 per share for the six months ended June 30, 2006.

Research and development expenses decreased to $3.9 million for the first six months of 2007, compared to $6.0 million in the first six months of 2006. This was due largely to a decrease in external service expenses, which had been primarily related to the AzaSite clinical trials, preparation of the related NDA and the filing fee in 2006.

Selling, general and administrative expenses increased to $3.7 million for the first six months of 2007 compared to $3.4 million in the first six months of 2006.

"With the approval and imminent launch of AzaSite(TM), InSite Vision is at a pivotal point in our business. By leveraging our DuraSite technology and the revenue from AzaSite commercialization, we believe that we have technological and financial capabilities to expand and advance our product pipeline and lead us to profitability and growth," said S. Kumar Chandrasekaran, PhD, chief executive officer, InSite Vision
