Hi Tokyo :)

Volume yesterday was pretty high, and the white marubozu was large enough to take the stock to a close above not only the 50 days SMA but also the 200 days SMA. Today's action looks just like a small correction, the short term trend is bullish. Moreover there's a gap to be filled at $18.85.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $520 M, so it exceeds our maximum threshold as you know (nevermind, it's a slight miss). The Company develops, manufactures and sells proprietary biological testing technologies with applications throughout the life sciences industry.
- Balance sheet is strong enough
- Revenue trend is positive, but just $53 M in revenues in 2006, which puts the revenue multiple at 10
- EPS of $0.05 in full year 2006 means the trailing earnings multiple is 313 :o

Let me check the news that made it rise 29% yesterday:

• Luminex Corporation Reports Fourth Quarter and Year-End 2006 Results (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070207/clw169.html?.v=3)
PR Newswire (Wed, Feb 7)

There's no guidance on the press release. I consider the stock to be overvalued on a fundamental basis. It can rise some more due to short term momentum or it can go back down, I don't know.

gigabeam (GGBM) wondering if it hit the bottom

The chart says "don't buy this stock, the trend is bearish". There has been a 44% rebound over the last 3 days from bottom to top, keep that in mind.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $17.6 M. The Company's primary business is to design, develop, sell, lease, install and service point-to-point communications links capable of transmission speeds at or in excess of a gigabit-per-second under the trade name 'WiFiber'.
- Balance sheet is nice, with $11.46 M in working capital. That's very good for a $17.6 M market cap company.
- Revenues are growing a bit, but losses too. The company lost $4.1 M in Q3 alone. If it continues this way it will burn that working capital quite quickly.

There are some positive developments and new contracts this quarter, so perhaps GGBM will be able to grow revenues and reverse those losses. But that's hard to know. If the company keeps losing money this way every quarter it will need to dilute shareholder's value a lot just to keep going.

It's a very risky bet. I would pass this one for now, but I'll keep an eye on it, the potential is big and the market cap is little.

Good luck :)

Hi David,

May be time for it to breakout from $2.50
Looks like very good fundamentals to me, and a low valuation.
It does look like there is a great deal of resistance around $2.50, and I have a concern that oil is cooling off.

I would like your take on it, if you get a chance. Thanks

HOFT .. up 26%
Mk Cap: $212k million
BRIEF: For the six months ended 31 May 2006, Hooker Furniture Corporation's revenues increased 4% to $176M. Net income increased 20% to $9.4M. Revenues reflect an increase in sales due to higher unit volume for imported wood & metal furniture and increased average selling prices due to higher volume imported wood & metal units shipped. Net income benefited from improved gross margins and lower restructuring & asset impairment charges

On fire today...

Technically the stock gapped to a new 7 year high, so the medium and long term trend is undoubtedly bullish. But I wonder if it won't come down to close the gap, this is a pretty big gap up on earnings news that perhaps were already expected/priced in.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $201 M. The Company is a global provider of Business Intelligence and Business Performance Management solutions.
- Balance sheet looks healthy with $27 M in cash and equivalents

«Applix is targeting diluted earnings per share for 2007 on a GAAP basis between $0.31 - $0.38, based upon an assumed weighted average number of diluted shares of 18,000,000 and an estimated effective tax rate of 40%.»

They had 15.6 million shares outstanding and now are talking about 18 million for 2007? That means dilution. Also, EPS of $0.345 means the forward earnings multiple is something like 37.5.

My take is fundamental trends are positive but valuation already reflects that. I would consider it on a 20 or 30% dip, but not at current levels, not today after this huge gap up.

Good luck :)

TSTC looks good

Yep, the chart is quite bullish, trying to breakout above an ascening triangle technical formation as I write. Let's make a few fundamental tests:

- Market cap is $90.5 M. Provides the infrastructure and integrated coverage solutions through a comprehensive national sales and services network that keep mobile users connected in the growing China Wireless Telecommunications and international markets.
- Revenues are growing nicely over the years. The 4th quarter is seasonally the strongest. I expect 2006 full year revenues around $21.5 M.
- Full year 2006 EPS will probably come in around 60 cents, so I estimate the trailing earnings multiple to be about 18.

This being a Chinese company I can't consider it cheap, because those usually trade at a discount to the market average. The stock is at a critical point now, a failed attempt at breaking out above the $10.68 resistance level will probably make it fall 10% or more.

Good luck :)

Just got in myself, have traded this before.  Seems to move quick on hype, and sometimes I think that is what this company is, lots of hype.  They said over half a year ago they were going to announce a major celebrity to promote their acne product, and I never saw that happen, lol.  Supposedly their Cinnergen product can cure flu, so there is some bird flu play there.

Anyway, chart is bullish, I doubt its a solid company, but I am giving the it a go here too, good luck to us boatguy  :)

I bought ZONS and JACO pre-market after their earnings reports.

You already have a nice profit at ZONS kslifka, congrats :)

I hope my analysis reinforces your bullishness on those stocks.

Technically I like ZONS chart, it reminds me of SYX when it was down there around $14, doesn't it? Anyway, the stock opened with a big gap up, the news really needs to be "news" for it to keep on pushing higher. We'll get to that in a moment.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $132 M. A single-source direct marketing reseller of name-brand information technology products to the small- to medium-sized business market, large and public sector accounts.
- The current ratio is just 1.6, so the balance sheet is a bit weak, but "big", if you know what I mean.
- Revenue trends are positive and 2006 revenues were $575 M. This looks like a huge number for a $132 M market cap company ...
- Fully diluted EPS for 2006 was $0.66. That puts the trailing earnings multiple at 15.2. The industry average is 14.

But the industry average sales multiple is 0.62, and ZONS is trading at just 0.23 times revenues. I say the stock is undervalued, the chart looks bullish, I'm positive on ZONS.

Good luck :)

Unfortunately you were not so lucky on JACO kslifka, as the stock is trading below the opening price. Still up 17% on the day, so this looks like a dangerous situation.

Volume is extremely high for this stock that traded just 3,500 shares yesterday, and today more than 1,000,000 shares are changing hands.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $25.3 M. Engaged in the distribution of electronic components, including semiconductors, capacitors, resistors, electromechanical devices, flat panel displays and monitors, and power supplies, which are used in the manufacture and assembly of electronic products.
- Balance sheet is weak with zero cash balance and a current ratio of just 1.07.
- Revenues are big but margins are very slim as this company is the middleman, a distributor, which gets squeezed on its margins on both sides. It reminds me of IFON's case.

Let's check today's news:

• Jaco Electronics Reports Fiscal 2007 Second Quarter Results, Its Fourth Consecutive Profitable Quarter (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/070209/20070209005122.html?.v=1)
Business Wire (Fri 6:37am)

EPS in the 4th quarter was 2 cents. Multiply this by four and get a full year EPS of $0.08 and that puts the earnings multiple at 50.

I would get out of this stock right away, don't like companies with such low gross and net profit margins.

Good luck :)

MIKR is being acquired at $11.5 a share, that's why it is standing still between $11.2 and $11.3:

Wow. If you are comparing this to SYX back in the day, then this should be a good point to buy in. Despite the big run up today, in your opinion David, would this still work to buy in now? You're really looking after another FRPT, aren't you la-onda? By the way, great move on OPBL.OB today, I wish I knew why ::)

DKAM.OB chart is bullish.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $197 M. The Company develops, produces, markets and distributes alcoholic and non- alcoholic beverages for sale in the continental United States.
- Balance sheet is very weak, working capital is negative by about $6.5 M
- Revenues are incipient for a $197 M company. Sold just $3.35 M over the last four quarters
- $1 M or more in losses every quarter

It doesn't matter how you put it, this stock is way, way overvalued. I see dilution going forward due to negative working capital. I think it will fall 60 or 70% from current levels, but been wrong before ...

Hello David. I'm a first time poster who is inquiring about your thoughts on GRSR.pk.  It's weeks away from moving to the bulletin board and sells at the lowest P/S ratio in the solar industry. They're at 1 times sale when the industry average is 9-11. If valued at the low end at say 7 times, that would still make this .97 cent stock upwards of 7 dollars.

I compared the chart, fundamentals aren't so attractive, but still attractive. I don't know if you remember lancefur, but I was losing 15% on SYX due to poor short term timing, because I bought right after a similar gap up as you see on ZONS.

Now I'm ahead by 90% on SYX, due to having strong hands for good stocks.

I dislike recent IPO stocks because companies have the bad habit (or necessity) of diluting shareholder's value right after being publicly traded. I've studied dozens of those stocks. They sell a small piece of the company to make the IPO price attractive and then dump newly issued shares on the way down.

I'm not saying that's the case with ARAY, though, I know nothing about the company.

Technically there's no analysis one can make with a two days chart.

Fundamentally the market cap is about $680 M, so it is above our limit, as you can read on the 3 SOF Portfolio FAQ (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=8739.0)

The company sold $80 M over the last four quarters, so the revenue multiple is 8.5, which is high. It lost $20 M over those last four quarters.

As I've said, I generally avoid recent IPO stocks, but I can be wrong on this one, it is kind of a gamble to me, good luck :)

TRT...don't think you have analized their earnings...but to me it looks good and undervalued...and has little debt.

Technically it's in danger of a black candle  :Pafter the gap up...but it it recovers this afternoon it could turn into a nice white candle. ;D  Overall  market not helping. :P

Just posting this again so it doenst get lost in all the shuffle of requests, if you could take a look at PMED i would greatly appreciated it. I posted it yesterday but you didnt have a chance to check it out.

Ok, lets take a look at PMED.OB.

Technically this is a typical penny stock rally. The stock rose what, 700% on Wednesday, then it opened with a gap up on Thursday and now is pulling back.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is about $5 M. Develops, manufactures, sources, markets and sells ophthalmic surgical and diagnostic instrumentation and related accessories, including disposable products.
- Balance sheet is weak but I expected worse. $2.66 M in long term debt. Total equity is negative by $1.9 M
- Revenue trend is negative over the years, with revenues declining from $7.9 M in 2001 to about $2.1 M expected for 2006
- The company has been losing money every quarter, but not much, at least not much when compared to most biotech stocks.

Let's check the news that made it move so much on Wednesday:

• Paradigm Medical Receives FDA Approval for New-Generation Ultrasound Devices (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/070207/20070207005682.html?.v=1)
Business Wire (Wed, Feb 7)

• Paradigm Medical Industries, Inc. CEO Featured in Exclusive WallSt.net Interview (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070209/laf017.html?.v=89)
PR Newswire (Fri 7:00am)

Ok, I think the first press release, despite not providing details, is powerful enough to take PMED.OB higher than current levels (because the market cap is still just $5 M), perhaps it will even double from here.

But the company will probably use the rally to unload shares to the public due to short term liquidity needs.

So, my take is PMED will have another bull leg and I would take profits then and wait for real revenue numbers out of the new products they're selling.

Good luck :)

Dave can you check out JADE...they are trying to get 100 stores in China before the olympic games and EPS growing fast.  Should get some PR because the products will be featured in gift bags for the grammys. PE is kind of high but considering there growth it may be cheap. I would like your take, thanks!

Hi David.  CECE, I asked about this one yesterday. Thanks

I made the following analysis on CECE in January the 22nd, 2007:

«CECE 3 minute look:

http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=4059635027639177654&hl=en

At first sight CECE is a great stock to own, with both technicals and fundamentals pointing north. I'll consider it for a deeper study and perhaps a longer term investment.

It might pullback some though (and that would present a nice buying opportunity), as it is facing a medium term resistance around $13.»

And I should have bought the stock, as it is trading at $15 now.

Over some recent news I get the following:

«Phillip DeZwirek, Chairman and CEO of CECO stated, "CECO's bookings in 2006 increased 125% from $89 million in 2005 to $200 million in 2006. We also ended 2006 with a record back-log of approximately $100 million, up 245% year over year. After enjoying a record year in 2006, we are extremely pleased to begin the new year with a record order that will carry last year's momentum through 2007."»

Yep, no doubt CECE looks like a great long term investment. Still cheap here, growth is astounding.

CORI
Mk Cap: $119k million
BRIEF: For the six months ended 30 June 2006, Corillian Corporation's revenues rose 23% to $28.9M. Net Loss totaled $2.4M vs an income of $2.8M. Revenues reflect an increase in sales due to completion of license and implementation project . Net loss reflects an increase in salaries, commissions, marketing expenses, stock based compensation expense, higher research & development expenses and an increase in general & administrative expenses

Making a nice come-back move today .. overall trend seems up & this is one of Motley Fool's "Best Under $10"  FWIW  :D

Seems like CORI past it prime.
Majority of the revenue last year due to the Banking regulation and push to implement strong authentication solutions by end of 2006. They may have licensing revenue from existing customers but not likely to expand market share.

Hi david,

What are your thoughts on Aens.ob?

Hi tocitygirl, it's such a pity that you're not a Premium member anymore, but I understand, you mostly play penny stocks, right?

Anyway, let's see what we have for AENS.OB. Technically the medium and long term trend is decisively bearish as you can see on the chart below.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is about $52 M. Engaged in the development of greenfield sites, including constructing, owning and operating fuel-grade ethanol plants.
- Balance sheet is ... well, they still got plenty of cash, about $9 M and just $166 K in liabilities. Total equity is $10 M
- Revenues were zero since inception
- Lost $1.09 M in Q3, probably it is starting to do something ...

Well, you know, this stock is in one of the groups that I refuse to look at (as you can read on the 3 SOF Portfolio FAQ (http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=8739.0)), which are biotechnology, alternative energy and mining companies without any operations. They could only be seen as asset plays, at least for now, and I dislike asset plays because I don't have the tools to value the assets.

I don't have an opinion on the stock. Good luck :)

JADE 3 minute look:

Great stock, looks kind of extended now, up about 50% over the last month or so, but perhaps there's still upside here. I'll have a further look, JADE is a good candidate, thanks nica33 :)»

I said nica33 for her to buy on the recent dip, I hope she did that, what a run!

Well, the chart is awesome !

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $408 M. A maritime enterprise and operates a fleet of owned Ultra Handymax and Panamax vessels and a fleet of time chartered Panamax and Ultra Handymax vessels that are employed to provide transportation of bulk commodities.
- Balance sheet is big, but weak. Current ratio is 1.13 and long term debt is quite high at $484 M
- Analysts are estimating $0.95 EPS for full year 2007, so the forward earnings multiple is about 7. This looks very appealing to me.

The catalyst for the recent sharp move was this news:

• Navios Maritime Holdings Inc. Announces Acquisition of Kleimar N.V. (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070205/nym177.html?.v=71)
PR Newswire (Mon, Feb 5)

I like the story, trading at 7 times 2007 estimated earnings. It looks like a sure thing. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Quotehi daivd, do you have take a look at "UTVG"  :o

Yep, nice chart marlene, I hope it can cross the $1 short term resistance level.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $27 M. The Company, through its wholly owned subsidiary, is primarily engaged in domestic and international airline ticketing services. Additionally, the company also provides hotel reservations, packaged tours, and air delivering.
- Balance sheet is ok
- Just two quarters of revenues (and just $1.5 M revenues in Q3), but showing a very high net profit margin in Q3, of 64% :o This is even more than CPNE.OB, and that was the highest I've ever seen.
- Profitable already, showing 5 cents of profits in Q3 and Q2 combined. For a full year it would be 10 cents so the earnings multiple is about 9 here.

This is an interesting company/stock. It's the kind I've been looking for, thanks for pounding the table on UTVG.OB marlene.

Recent news are also very positive:

• Universal Travel Group Announces Monthly Growth Rate of 30% (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070208/clth019.html?.v=83)
PR Newswire (Fri 12:33pm)

• Universal Travel Group Updates Daily Call Center Statistics (http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/070209/clf184.html?.v=1)
PR Newswire (Thu 8:32am)

The business looks interesting, but I find it odd how it is able to show such a high net profit margin.

But great story and fundamental trends marlene, I'll keep this one under close scrutiny, good luck :)
