Wednesday's News......

Indie Research
Alvarion Climbs on New Product News
Wednesday October 4, 4:03 pm ET
By the BullMarket.com Staff

WiMax equipment maker Alvarion (Nasdaq: ALVR - News) added 3.7% on positive news about new products for the nascent technology. The company was the source of one of those announcements, stating today that it has expanded its BreezeMax WiMax product line to the 2.3 and 2.5 GHz spectrum. The latter is, importantly, the only spectrum designated for WiMax by the FCC.

Not surprisingly, WiMax is the platform Sprint Nextel (NYSE: S - News), owner of most of the spectrum in that range, chose for its 4G roadmap. Thanks to that decision, the technology has garnered more interest and attention in the U.S. -- and now WiMax is positioned to take part in the considerable infrastructure build at Sprint as well as at the companies who want to take advantage of Sprint's upcoming high-speed wireless platform.

Separately, chipmaker NXP took the wrappings off what the company claims is the first fully integrated WiMax chip in the world. Spun off from, and still 20% owned by, Philips Electronics (NYSE: PHG - News), NBX is the #10 chipmaker in the world. The company said that it anticipated the results of a recently ended standardization process for the mobile WiMax protocol, and has thus been able to move to full production of the chip. NPX acknowledged that competitors were working on similar products, but were not in mass production. Other advantages the NPX product has includes its low-power usage and its performance to date in mobile tests.

While this ups the competition in the space for Intel (Nasdaq: INTC - News), a big WiMax backer, NPX's advances are good news for Alvarion. The chip is fairly cheap, which should pressure unit costs in the industry, and the technical advantages will only help WiMax adoption rates. We don't expect Alvarion to abandon its relationship with Intel, but competition among suppliers is always a good thing. Of course, down the road, Alvarion too will have to fend off commoditization of WiMax equipment, but for now, it continues to appear that there are big opportunities for growth coming down the pike ahead of commoditization.

Alvarion and Sprint are Bull Market Recommended List stocks.

Wednesday October 4, 11:14 am ET
Employing 802.16e, Market Leader Extends World's Popular WiMAX Platform to New Frequencies

FLORIANOPOLIS, Brazil--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Alvarion Ltd. (NASDAQ:ALVR - News), the world's leading provider of wireless broadband and specialized mobile networks, today announced the availability of its BreezeMAX 2300 and BreezeMAX 2500 products with shipments expected to begin in the fourth quarter of this year. Employing the IEEE 802.16e standard, Alvarion is extending its BreezeMAX platform to address the 2.3 and 2.5 GHz bands available in North America and the rest of the world. The BreezeMAX 2300 and BreezeMAX 2500 are extensions of Alvarion's widely-successful, field-proven BreezeMAX platform, one of the first WiMAX systems to launch in 2004, and are targeted at carriers wanting to provide fixed, nomadic, portable and in the future, mobile applications in mass market, urban areas.

"The availability of BreezeMAX in 2.3 and 2.5 GHz is particularly important today as the market is looking to provide the full range of fixed to mobile connectivity," commented Phillip Marshall, vice president of Yankee Group Research Inc. "Alvarion has achieved many WiMAX milestones and this one should answer the needs in the U.S. WiMAX-hungry market, and in many other countries around the world."

Alvarion's award-winning WiMAX platform is designed from the ground up according to the IEEE 802.16 standards and is a third-generation OFDM platform with advanced non-line-of-sight (NLOS) functionality. Its carrier-class design supports broadband speeds and quality of service (QoS) to enable carriers to offer quadruple play broadband services over IP to thousands of subscribers in a single base station. BreezeMAX is now successfully deployed in over 180 installations in more than 80 countries around the world and is the radio access base station of the company's mobile WiMAX solution, 4Motion(TM).

"These BreezeMAX 2300 and BreezeMAX 2500 products give carriers first-to-market advantage to start building their WiMAX customer base," said Rudy Leser, Alvarion's corporate vice president of strategy and marketing. "Based on the IEEE 802.16e standard, the systems are designed to enable carriers to offer full mobile services in the future, leveraging their current investment in BreezeMAX infrastructure. The many technological advances and vast field experience of BreezeMAX translate into immediate cost savings for service providers."

BreezeMAX is one of the key elements of Alvarion's 4Motion, which is a complete, end-to-end WiMAX solution, incorporating QoS mechanisms, IP mobility core components, and multimedia subsystems along with subscriber terminals, an NMS and northbound and backend interfaces. Designed to employ software defined radio (SDR), beam forming, multi-in multi-out (MIMO), dynamic bandwidth allocation, and scaleable OFDMA technologies, 4Motion with BreezeMAX as its base station offers service providers greater coverage, capacity, and flexibility in their mobile WiMAX deployments along with improved economics.

Closed back above the 50-day MA....
13-day MA about to cross over the 50-dayMA

Recent CandleStick Analysis
Oct-03-2006 Bullish Harami

Candlestick Analysis
Today's Candlestick Patterns:
White Opening Marubozu
Today a White Opening Marubozu was formed. This shows that the day opened and then the prices continued to go up all day long without coming below the opening level thus forming a long white body, however prices did not close at the high of the day and thus they created an upper shadow.

Definition:
The White Opening Marubozu is a single candlestick pattern characterized by a long white body. It has an upper shadow but no lower shadow. This is a strong bullish candlestick pattern.

Important Factors:
Like all other Marubozu, what a White Opening Marubozu says about the future course of the prices depends a lot on the general picture. It may be the first part of a bullish continuation pattern but it may also be interpreted as a bearish reversal pattern depending on the preceding day's candlesticks.

In the case of downtrend a White Opening Marubozu is called as a Bullish Belt Hold Pattern.

The White Opening Marubozu is a single candlestick pattern with low reliability. It reflects only one day's trading and it may show the continuation of the trend but may also indicate a reversal. It needs to be used with other candlesticks for a better and healthier judgment about the status of the trend.

ASHBURN, Va. & WASHINGTON, Jun 11, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- DigitalBridge Communications (DBC) and Alvarion Inc. (ALVR, Trade) today announced that DBC has launched a WiMAX network using 2.5 GHz licensed spectrum in Rexburg, Idaho, based on Alvarion's BreezeMAX(TM) 802.16e platform. As one of the first commercial WiMAX network in the country, service is expected to initially reach more than 7,000 homes and businesses in Rexburg and the surrounding areas, with plans to extend service coverage in Southeast Idaho and Montana in the coming months. Residential service plans deliver speeds up to 3 Mbps and subscribers are able to connect anywhere in the DigitalBridge service area by taking their modem with them, breaking the traditional confines of typical high-speed Internet service.

Selling under the brand name BridgeMAXX, the service is sold online, over the phone, and at select local retail locations. The service features plug-and-surf technology, using Alvarion's award-winning BreezeMAX Si (self-install) WiMAX customer premises equipment (CPE), which allows customers to set up and begin using their high speed connection in a matter of minutes. DBC has partnered with Alvarion as its preferred WiMAX equipment provider, implementing the mature BreezeMAX platform, the world's most widely-deployed WiMAX solution. Alvarion's solution is based on its OPEN(TM) WiMAX strategy, aimed at creating an operator-centric network solution for WiMAX, enabling a mix and match of best in class network elements and service capabilities optimized for each operator.

"We are excited to put Rexburg at the forefront of WiMAX deployment in the United States," said Kelley Dunne, CEO of DBC. "With the immediate availability of Alvarion's 802.16e-based solution in 2.5 GHz, we are able to offer high speed Internet service where it has not been available before, or as an alternative to DSL or cable. We have developed a highly-scalable network deployment and back-office platform that enables us to take advantage of WiMAX economics to bring broadband to communities nationwide."

"DigitalBridge's commitment to growth is evident in their ability to build a network operations center and billing, customer care and ordering system in less than six months after receiving initial funding," said Greg Daily, President of Alvarion Inc. "We are happy to offer DBC a scalable, flexible WiMAX solution based on the latest version of the 802.16 standard to enable them to provide true broadband connectivity to many people who have had limited options for high-speed Internet service."

UPDATE 2-Alvarion moves to Q2 profit, sees improved Q3

JERUSALEM, Aug 1 (Reuters) - Alvarion , a maker of wireless telecom equipment, swung to a small net income in the second quarter and boosted third quarter expectations as it slowly moves to profitability.

The Israeli-based wireless broadband provider reported on Wednesday a second-quarter net profit of $136,000, or nil per share, compared with a net loss of $27.6 million, or 45 cents per share in the year-earlier quarter.

Excluding special items and discontinued operations, it had a net profit of $2.0 million, or 3 cents a share, compared with $1.0 million, or 2 cents a share, a year earlier.

Revenue rose 31 percent to $57.5 million.

The company said it expects third-quarter revenues to range between $58 million and $62 million, with GAAP earnings per share to range between 0 cents and 2 cents profit.

Non-GAAP per share results from continuing operations are forecast to range between 3 cents and 5 cents profit.

"Based on our performance during the first half (of 2007), and the positive outlook for the balance of the year, we are raising our target for revenue growth in 2007 to 25-30 percent over 2006, versus our previous target of 15-20 percent," said Tzvika Friedman, president and chief executive of Alvarion.

Friedman told Reuters that strong forecasts for the third quarter were based on record revenues and strong growth margins from both the company's WiMAX and non-WiMAX deployments.

WiMAX is a medium range sibling of Wi-Fi which is capable of beaming the Internet and other data over kilometres rather than within a single home or office.

Despite the strong forecasts Friedman said that its outlook for the third quarter was for modest profit.

"This year is a year of investment, as higher investments are coupled with a growth in revenue," Friedman said.

"We want to maintain marginal profitability into 2008 ... and strengthen our bottom-line based on a long term operating profit objective of 10 percent, but it will not happen in 2008," he added.

Friedman said WiMAX continued to be the key focus of the company, and would allow for the company's continued gradual growth.

"Though non-WiMAX deployments also grew this (second) quarter, we expect to see a growth of over 50 percent in WiMAX deployment since 2006, while non-WiMAX deployment is seen mostly flat," Friedman said.

Alvarion's Tel Aviv-listed shares were up 1.9 percent in afternoon trade, compared with losses of 2.8 percent in the broader bourse.
