China auto sales jump over 70%, that is a good news for CYD too.

Wall Street Journal

<China Auto Sales
Jump Over 70%
As Incomes Rise

SHANGHAI -- Auto sales in China jumped by more than 70% in January, according to an industry trade group, putting the country on track to widen its lead over Japan as the world's second-largest vehicle market this year.

Preliminary figures show that Chinese car dealers sold nearly 340,000 vehicles last month, up from 194,907 a year earlier, according to the China Passenger Car Association. General Motors Corp. cars were the biggest sellers, the association said.

China's car market has surged as incomes rise and car prices fall. Last year total vehicle sales were up 14% to 5.89 million, according to another trade group, the China Association of Auto Manufacturers. Sales of locally made passenger cars rose 27% to 3.1 million.

"There's no reason to think this current momentum will slow," says Michael Dunne, president of Automotive Resources Asia, a consultancy. "This could go on for a while."

Mr. Dunne is forecasting 15% growth in passenger-car sales this year. That would lift total vehicle sales to about 6.2 million. In 2005, Japan recorded sales of about 5.85 million vehicles, nearly unchanged from 2004. The U.S. is the world's largest vehicle market.

Chinese car sales hit a speed bump in 2004, as cars targeted at China's still-limited pool of affluent, middle-class consumers failed to find enough buyers. Some potential buyers were also discouraged by tightened credit standards and higher gas prices, analysts say.

The current sales-growth spurt, however, is being driven in large part by demand for inexpensive cars. Chinese shoppers can now choose among an increasing number of models that sell for less than $10,000.

A GM joint-venture company, for example, last year sold more than 310,000 budget Wuling minivans, which go for roughly $6,000. "We are selling everything we can make every month," says Jay Cooney, a GM spokesman.

Rao Da, secretary general of the China Passenger Car Association, attributed the strong results in January, usually one of the slowest sales months of the year, to consumers' apparent belief that manufacturer price-cutting had come to an end. Car prices remained fairly steady in December and January, he said.

Some car makers had been marking down vehicles amid intense competition. Chinese government officials have expressed concern that there is a glut of car-making capacity in China. China's annual production capacity is about eight million vehicles.

Mr. Rao said that Volkswagen AG ranked second behind GM in terms of sales, while Chery Automobile Co. was the leading Chinese domestic car maker.>

Its forming a bullish pennant pattern and looks like it is about to
break the top pennant. It go to the 20's from $9. $14.50 is the first
resistence. Historically this Chinese manufactoring company has had a
great first quarter. It is coming off the bottom and at the beginning
of a long term and short term uptrend. Bounced off the 10ma and
looking to break the top pennant soon.
China is the next bull market, remember the IT days? China is the next bull, with such a rapid growing economy, this stock is extremely undervalued. Some of these Chinese stocks have been running wild, take CTDC for instance to ran from $3 to close to $15 in a couple of weeks. How insane is that?

CYD, Check this out on monday!

beautiful chart right here, check it out, coming off the bottom, undervalued
at these prices.

Notice the nice bounce off the 10ma, all the ma's are lined up getting ready for a big move up. Showing a bullish pennant pattern.

If you don't know what a bullish pennant is click -here.

Flags and pennants can be categorized as continuation patterns.  They usually represent only brief pauses in a dynamic market.  They are typically seen right after a big, quick move.  The market then usually takes off again in the same direction.  Research has shown that these patterns are some of the most reliable continuation patterns.

Bullish flags are characterized by lower tops and lower bottoms, with the pattern slanting against the trend. But unlike wedges, their trendlines run parallel.

Bearish flags are comprised of higher tops and higher bottoms.  "Bear" flags also have a tendency to slope against the trend.  Their trendlines run parallel as well.

Pennants look very much like symmetrical triangles.  But pennants are typically smaller in size (volatility) and duration.

Interesting excerpt from the 11/15 Forbes.com article:

China Yuchai International (nyse: CYD - news - people ), which makes diesel engines for automakers and utilities, is trading at the bottom of its 52-week range. Gurus like the price-to-earnings ratio of 4.6, along with a dividend of 4.85%. The stock, at $7.87, trades for slightly less than the Chinese company's book value.
GO IN THAT HOUSE OF PAIN THAT YOU SEEM TO WANT TO BE IN, BUT GET AWAY FROM ME.  I'M TRYING TO WORK, DAMMIT.

I owned CYD back when it was #1 on the IBD 100.  The problem is that their accounting and finances are a mess.  Right now, however, it does not matter.  With the explosive growth in China, the planned exporting of vehicles to the US and China stox being on fire at the moment, it is probably a good place to be.

CAAS is another and Brilliance China are two other Chinese auto stox.

It was reported that with benefits, the average US auto worker from the "Big Two" makes $64 an hour, the average auto worker in China makes the equivalent of $3!

No wonder why Ford just layed off 30K workers!

REALDEALS21

ON FIRE FOR THE LAST 2 DAYS ! ANYONE WATCHING IT ??  :o

kslifka

CYD may be the next China stock to move.  Looks good coming off the 9ema.

kslifka

CYD took out the small resistance at 10.59.  If volume kicks in CYD should plow through $11 soon.  MACD cross above 0 ;)

kslifka

CYD in a mini G-pattern.  Having a tough time with the high at $10.40 in today's crummy market.

Fundamentally CYD seems undervallued compared to its peers.  Anyone with better fundamental anaylsis care to chime in??
