Acura Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company, engages in the research, development, and manufacture of abuse deterrent, abuse resistant, and tamper resistant formulations intended for use in orally administered pharmaceutical products. In addition, it engages in the formulation development of additional immediate release product candidates intended for oral administration incorporating Aversion Technology, including hydrocodone bitartrate with acetaminophen tablets, hydromorphone HCl tablets, and Oxycodone HCl with acetaminophen. The company was founded in 1935 and is is based in Palatine, Illinois.
