I wouldn't even think about selling SILC here. IBD is on to it. was highlighted on "Today's Daily Stock Analysis" at investors.com and is mentioned on today's front page at "The Big Picture"- and "leaders up in volume" - thinly traded network adapter that has barged out of a long price pattern this week.

Not on the IBD 100 list yet, but might soon appear there. .

By the way, IBD  says market is still in confirmed rally since Aug 29, even though yesterday counted as a distribution day for the major indexes.
Hi BigSully1

are you a subscriber with IBD ? and what service ?

thanks

Yes, I get the daily paper and also have access to investors.com. Is that what you mean?

from Zacks:
Silicom Ltd. (NASDAQ: SILC) announced last week a new line of Standalone BYPASS cards and modules, which will offer full BYPASS functionality in a ready-for-integration add-on card or module with no extra communication ports. According to the company, the innovative feature of the new product line takes it another step towards becoming a 'one-stop shop' for best-in-breed appliance connectivity solutions. Silicom Ltd. is an industry-leading provider of high-performance server/appliances networking solutions.

Silicom was a top-performing Zacks #1 Rank company last week with a gain of 19.1%. For its second quarter, the company reported earnings per share of 25 cents on revenues of $6.6 million. The earnings results soared almost 400% from the previous year's six cents and beat the consensus by 25%. Revenues increased 82% from $3.6 million.

I guess our plan to buy SILC at below $16 can now be safely abolished. Good thing my wife was stubborn and kept SILC in our account... I was a bit hasty and sold at $20 in my IRA...

SILC is 15% up today and closing in on $25...

:'(  :'(

Painful, but well deserved in my case.

Two lessons for the future:

1) If you want to buy, buy, forget waiting for a pullback;

2) Hold for as long as you trust the fundamentals, forget the chart.

SILC: WR Hambrecht Cuts to Hold from Buy; Analyst Notes
Wednesday, September 19, 2007 08:24ET
Issuer: Silicom Ltd (NasdaqSC: SILC)
Analyst Firm:  WR Hambrecht
Ratings Action: DOWNGRADE
Current Rating: Hold (from Buy)

Analyst Comments: While the firm continues to believe that Silicom will benefit from the significant growth in key areas of the networking market, specifically the wide-area data services (WDS) market, they believe that expectations for growth are priced in and that SILC shares are fully valued at these levels. Given the recent run up in the stock (30% MTD) and the absence of any foreseeable near-term catalysts, they do not expect significant upside from these levels.

What do those guys know? They are not considering the revenue growth. SILC was at these levels 5 months ago and noone downgraded it. Now that it has reached above $24 suddenly a downgrade? According to David's model SILC must have plenty of steam to go on. ;)

It's a good chance now for a good gain in a few weeks ...

there's one condition which is not to close below $24 ,  it looks very nice now

David it could be nice to get back to this one if doesn't close below the stop $24

Closed at $23.6 ... below the support. Unfortunately, the analyst may be right about the abcense of any catalysts to boost the stock up. So it can trend down now until the next leg up.  :'(

JKN

OK, so we are now 15% (give or take a bit) off of the level at which it was considered "fully valued". .  Does that make it a buy? I guess they unloaded yesterday so another 10-20% or so down and they will issue a "buy" after they have allowed their clients to load up at 20-25% below "fully valued".

It is more likely that I buy it if it falls further than if it holds $24, because I'm a long term investor based on fundamental analysis (the only way to be a long term investor, the chart analysis doesn't let you do that - unless it is a really long term analysis - using weekly data).

I think SILC is cheap when compared to its peers and its future is bright. The CEO has repeatedly talked about "quarterly fluctuations" which may happen, so maybe there's going to be a disappointment in one quarter or another, but we don't know when that's going to happen, or at what price. I would use the weak quarter news to buy SILC.

I should just buy and hold SILC, but I'll keep waiting for one of two things to happen for me to add it to the Main Portfolio:

1 - The stock touches the 200 days SMA, currently standing at $17.21.

2 - We get a weaker than expected quarter (which is to be expected, sometime) and I'll use that dip to buy, because I believe in the long term fundamentals of the business.
