It was mentioned on CNBC and someone said good things about it ...

I didn't see it but a friend told me  :)
Technically this stock is a rocket and heading to $23.5  ;D

Are you sure about that friend Garoh? I've inspected most messages on the Yahoo message board for IMMR and there's some speculation that CNBC filmed IMMR at an event, but nobody saw it, nobody knows for sure why the stock moved up. Some say it was Cramer who talked about it, others say it is probably positive news pending ... Thanks :)

Well, I guess an undervalued and promising stock like IMMR doesn't need news to go up 8)

Yesterday's move in IMMR and my continuous study of the Main's holdings makes a believer that there are no losers in this portfolio. If given time, they will all rise above the buying price and outperform the general market over the long term.

I'll hold IMMR for the long term.

Hi everyone

Searching for news I found the link and put it down about this technology in the site of Imersion;  it is from MAY07 but I think it is a valueable "food for tought for the weekend" about the future perspectives if this stock and perhaps for a nearterm surprise annoucement

Have a good weekend

Thanks for this link Rmagos, there's no doubt Haptics technology by IMMR will have a great future.

Mobile phones and other mobile devices are an obvious application, because everybody wants them to be small, but they also want to do many things with them, so there can't be no keypad, just a touchscreen panel on which we can feel when we touch the buttons is the optimal solution.

Volume has been high on IMMR, as the stock moved to the upside, still without fundamental justification. Perhaps over the next few days we'll know why IMMR moved the last couple of days ...

I'll hold IMMR for the long term.

IMMR looking good here too....I wonder if we don't get a nice white candle by close??

Nope, it seems like the stock needed some more consolidation. But, looking at the chart, the last two days seem like a build up for another powerful white candle.

We still didn't have any news out to justify the bullish breakout (not that the stock needed news to move higher), I guess Garoh was right and the move happened because of a CNBC piece, which isn't the best way to start a bull run, but ... it doesn't mean it won't happen. The fundamental story is very attractive and the more people that are familiar with it ... the better for the share price.

I'll keep holding IMMR.

Garoh

David It could be because of the CNBC thing ... but Technically the stock looks very bullish now .
The last two days means nothing but I expect it to move up very quickly  ;)

And it did, congrats Garoh :)

IMMR's story was unleashed on CNBC and of course, people loved it. My reasoning is as simple as it can be ... 400 million mobile phones*$1 per mobile phones means $400 M in revenues, which for a company like IMMR means no less than $200 M net income. Give it at least 15 times earnings and get a $3 B market cap company, six times more than what it is now.

I'll keep holding IMMR for the long term.

The chart keeps pointing north, despite yesterday's dip. Anyway, I'll continue holding IMMR for the long term due to its revenue and earnings potential.

David Randolph

IMMR's management hasn't been giving us much clues on how business is going ... no press releases since August 2, when the company reported earnings.

From the latest earnings release:

«"We now have the financial base to pursue significant revenue growth from our many opportunities in existing and new markets," continued Viegas. "As a result of our June agreement with Nokia, the number one maker of mobile devices, we now have licensed our VibeTonz(R) technology to three of the top five handset makers, thereby creating the potential for a significant increase in the number of VibeTonz-enabled mobile devices and the type and amount of content available for them. In addition, during the quarter we launched an exciting new medical simulation platform, the LaparoscopyVR(TM) system, that can address training needs across multiple disciplines including general surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, and urology."»

I'll keep holding IMMR for the long term.

David Randolph

No news out for IMMR. I've held the stock for so long while I've been losing about 30%, I certainly won't sell now that the chart turned bullish again. I'll keep holding IMMR for the long term.

Here we go :

Immersion Medical Introduces OB/GYN Module For LaparoscopyVR(TM) Surgical Simulator
No Pain No Gain

ravenquork

this just came across one of my news feeds:
fyi

A patent recently filed by Apple seeks to improve of some of the shortcomings of the first generation iPhone's screen.

Apple is calling the patent a, "Force Imaging Input and Device System," placing a spring-like layer beneath the screen. Different amounts of pressure applied to the screen would result in the inputting of different data sets.

This is perhaps wishful thinking on my part, but the phrase "spring-like" also brings to mind some kind of tactile feedback for the device, which has long been on of the major complaints about the current model's screen, and really, touchscreens in general.

I wonder if it will compete with IMMR's technology or infringe on its patents?

IMMR indeed went north Garoh, but I don't think it was because of that press release:

• Immersion Medical Introduces OB/GYN Module for LaparoscopyVR(TM) Surgical Simulator
Business Wire (Mon 8:30am)

IMMR's fundamental story isn't about this part of their business, it's about the use of its VibeTonz in mobile devices. The stock didn't move much on this news, it only moved when this Apple story broke out:

Apple Applies for New Touchscreen Patent

(thanks for bringing this to us ravenquork)

QuoteI wonder if it will compete with IMMR's technology or infringe on its patents?

Well, the technology seems quite similar to IMMR's VibeTonz and we know how Sony had to pay $134.9 M to IMMR because of an IMMR's patent infringement. So the market is speculating Apple will end up paying IMMR ... you just can't add tactile feedback to your touchscreen without buying a license from IMMR, IMMR has 600 patents covering all aspects of it.

All this just adds fuel to the incredible revenue and profit potential behind the license agreement with Nokia.

I'll keep holding IMMR for the long term.

David Randolph

IMMR had a bit of profit taking yesterday, no big deal. I couldn't do "profit taking" because I'm still losing 10.5% in this holding (as usual, my short term timing was poor), but if I were gaining 10% I wouldn't do it anyway, because I see four to six bags of profits coming from IMMR if I give the stock a couple of years time. That's what I'll do.

David Randolph

Nothing new on IMMR, I'll keep holding the stock.
