Im bullish on highly efficient industrial manufacturing companies. A declining dollar just supports domestic manufacturing as well.

Livana,

Boring stocks can become very intersting in a hurry...especially when they enter a new area of business.

I really like the chart set-up...however...today's action so far has been very un-inspiring.   I think the general market and fed meeting today is holding the stock down.  We'll see.

nullzero

WSCI moving on up over 5.00 now! This one may be a home run over 10.00 within a year time frame.

WSCI is again looking very interesting.  They see huge 2008 revenues of $10 million just in their new energy business sector according to their latest PR.  I just wonder what energy sector they are talking about since they are a manufacture.  Is it Oil, Gas, Solar or something else ???  Maybe I'll call them tomorrow.  The market cap is only $18 million :D

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WSI Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq:WSCI - News) today updated their fiscal 2008 outlook on their energy business. Michael J. Pudil, president and chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased to report further progress in our developing energy business. Previously we had announced that we expected WSI's fiscal 2008 sales from it energy business to be about $6 million to $8 million. Pudil went on to say: "When we entered the energy field in the spring of 2007, we were awarded orders on three separate programs. Overall, we have backlog for our energy business out through calendar year 2009." Pudil concluded: "We believe that WSI's ability to take on programs of this magnitude is a positive comment on our financial resources and the technical expertise and commitment of our employees."

The Company also announced that it will release its full year fiscal 2007 earnings on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 after market close.

WSI Industries, Inc. is a leading contract manufacturer that specializes in the machining of complex, high-precision parts for a wide range of industries, including avionics, aerospace and defense, energy, recreational vehicles, small engines, marine, bioscience and instrumentation.

I just found out earnings are out Tuesday(tomorrow) after hours.  I guess...I'll find out more about the "new" energy sector of their manufacturing.

kslifka

Earnings were out yesterday....but no information about the energy sector they are in.  Nothing to exciting, so the stock may pull back some today.

Either way I see WSCI as a nice long term play.  Here are the revenues from the past and the projections into the future.  The "new" energy sector should make WSCI a more interesting stock.  As you can see in 2008 revenues increase dramatically from 2007...because of the new energy business they have entered.

Revenues
2003 - 10.7 million
2004- 11.5 million
2005- 15.6 million
2006- 16 million
2007 - 18.8 million
2008 - 28-30 million

kslifka

Technically...Nothing looks too exciting for this small cap ($15 million)but WSCI is holding up.  I really like WSCI.  They recently bought a 50,000 square foot building in my homestate of Minnesota...Good honest people in Minnesota ;)

I'm really interested in their energy business they've expanded into last Spring.  This is a well run small company...and I think WSCI could be a great long term hold.  But you have to be patient with WSCI.  Only 2.3 million shares outstanding.

Just keep a heads up on this one going into the new year.  These small float stocks can run up 50 to 100% on any news.  Cheers :D

Kslifka, I really like them too. I always meant to buy into it, but failed to do so. A year or so ago, the price had moved down below $3, I should have bought into it then. There were concerns that they losing business from their main customer ( I think Polaris). I think that since then they have greatly diversified their business. Thanks for the heads up.

BigSully1 did you ever buy WSCI??

I bought some a while ago and bought some more in December.  Just kinda forgot about it...until earnings news showed up in my account after hours today.

I like it.  $5.9 million in revenue for the quarter and earned .14/share.

The largest growth is in their energy business.  This low floater should move tomorrow and I'm glad I bought more ahead of earnings. ;D

Yeah...If I bought every "wouldof, couldof, shoudof...I would be rich". :D
I think I say that to myself everyday. :-\

I would have forgot about WSCI too, but I saw it in my account everyday, and I knew earnings were coming up in January since WSCI's quarters end in odd months...like November.  Figured it was a safe bet.

Anyway here's the report:

Michael J. Pudil, president and chief executive officer, commented: "We took another significant step forward as shown by our results from our fiscal 2008 first quarter. Our sales were up 45% from the prior year quarter. We also experienced double digit sales percentage increases in both our recreational vehicle market and energy businesses versus the fiscal 2007 fourth quarter. We are positive about the future and believe that we will show continued improvement going forward."
