TBSI breaking through the 50MA and 200 EMA ...  ;D

Still have to cross above the 200 SMA, but it appears that the trend has finally turned.

TBSI is still trading at just 6.6 times 2008 EPS estimates and the earnings are not only reliable, they're very likely to grow even more in the upcoming years. What you have here is a very cheap company, which never diluted shareholders value and growing EPS by 62% from 2007 to 2008, according to estimates:

I see $100 a share in TBSI in 9-12 months time and I'll continue holding it for the long term.

All these dry bulk stocks rolling over in unison. Everyone taking profits at once?

Another great earnings report from a shipping company.

DSX reports after the bell on Thurs.

TBSI closed above the 200 days SMA yesterday. Today after the close, DRYS, which is the Dry Bulk Shipping sector largest company (at least traded on American exchanges), will release its 4th quarter results. Probably the short term direction of this sector will be affected by this news.

There are several problems to DRYS, this is why it trades at such low valuation of 4.5 times 2008 EPS estimates, which are really high at $18.18 :o

I believe TBSI is a lot more transparent than DRYS and shouldn't be trading at just 7.2 times 2008 EPS estimates.

Commerce within the company's routes can only keep growing in my opinion.

I'll continue holding TBSI for the long term.

Hi David,

honestly I wouldn't rely too much on what Fool.com says...most of the times, they are completely wrong in their analysis and they manipulate a lot their returns on newsletter so to show they beat the market...but they don't.

I think DRYS (I own some shares) it's a great company and yesterday earnings prove it.
It has diversified its business into the ocean rig, because the CEO has a deep knowledge of this industry.
That acquisition is not a diwoersification (I ask pardon to Lynch if I permit to use his words), but it is accreative to the bottom line.
Energy is a crucial industry and will continue to be in the coming decades, where oil will continue to be the master in the energy market.

Just my opinion of course, time will tell if DRYS will be able to return to thehighest level it reached months ago.

Cheers,

A.

Yep, $38.5 now in the pre-market, as the general market isn't helping.

Is that so? I thought they were honest. This is a big surprise to me, why do you say that?

I tend to agree terainvestment :)

I wrote some comments on DRYS on the Watch List.

It looks clear now that the CEO's and analysts of the Dry Bulk shipping industry were right, the industry continues to grow very strongly. Therefore the extremely cheap valuations don't make any sense and they should be corrected. This isn't a business that is about to end (as it would be implied from the current valuations), this is a business that will keep growing for several years to come in my view.

I see all shipping stocks moving up to new all time highs and TBSI should outperform the group, like it has been doing.

I'll keep holding TBSI for the long term.

Is that so? I thought they were honest. This is a big surprise to me, why do you say that?

[Hi david, no they are not honest as they should be. For two reasons:
1) In their newsletters (I tested all) they recommend a long list of stocks to buy, almost touching 50/60 stocks. This is the first problem, because their main target market, people who know little or nothing about investment, could be in real problem in managing a portfolio composed by 50 stocks. Just the transaction costs eat you a large part of the total return, while Fool say that investors  should buy the whole list of rec's to duplicate returns.

2) the second and larger problem, is that their performance calculation are duplicated and calculated twice, or three or four times, depending how many times they recommended a stock. For example, in their newsletter "The Stock Advisor", the stock Quality Systems (QSII) is recommended for a buy twice and in the calculation of their total return they calculate the returns that they have on both rec's! This stock is up, to date, 533% and 453%, so the overall impact on total return of portfolio is devastating...unless you bought twice QSII duplicating the position (but how much money you should have to do this?). The same story is for Dolby (DLB), recommended three times for respective gains of 116%, 163% and 61%.
Conversely, stocks that underperform and go beyond their expectations are, of course, eliminated by their portfolio...

So, I made some very easy calculation on an excel file and put their returns on each rec's. I then eliminated the stocks recommended 2,3 4, 5 times...etc and I took only one rec's for each stock. I then eliminated the two outliers (in statystical analysis, an outlier is a data the fall very outside the frequency distribution). In our case, the outliers are the bigger winner and bigger loser.

The final result on this great The stock Advisor that claim to beat the market by 50% being up 68% while market is up just 16% since 2002 , is a poor.........+20%....all that Fools and caos to beat the market by 4% in 6 years?

LOL
