Damn!  I sold this in the 50s!  The idea is great - spintronics - using nano-particles in motion to keep your computer always booted up saving energy and time - and never risking the loss of important data.  The problem has been that the interest in nano-technology has dropped and people are no longer facinated in the field.  As I remember, aside from the patents, NVEC had not much else - the product was being built elsewhere and the expected results never emerged.

It may take off again.  More promising nano tech companies which are also going nowhere now are MFIC, the maker of Microfluidizers (machines that can properly mix nanoparticles in medicines, paints, inks, etc) and SOTK - a company that makes nozzles that can accurately spray chemicals with nanoparticles on stents and such.  Both are profitable, both I think are worth $5 and both hardly trade.

The chart looks like a cup/handle, but they have had too many miscues in the past to have any confidence in this stock.

Thx for bringin this up ramlau  and good info snowcat...One of my senior projects in school revolved  around non-volatile memory..very interesting stuff @ NVEC and the chart might say some good news around the corner.... 

NVEC likes to run.. and I made some nice $ of this one before and I think it may be getting ready to burst out.  This is how I would play it   

Yeah, don't we all remember when NVEC was $60+ in 2003. It seems so far away now. The stock just doesn't belong to this era, not yet.

I don't know how valid this pattern is, but yesterday's high was exactly on the down trendline from the July 7, 2004 high.  That high was in the middle of the down move and wasn't "the" high, so I'm not sure that it's valid. 

This stock has been a favorite among the shorts.  If I remember correctly, at one time, 80% of the float was held short.  Despite how out of line that is, in a bear market, the shorts are right.  I don't know what short interest is now, but if it's high, the shorts might start covering if we take out yesterday's high.

she should move up heavy from here..and the P/L ratio should be a healthy 3:1 

I make support buys only after confirmation of support...which for me is a break of high of the previous candle

drew a fibonacci retracement line ( i am very fond of them !) from the previous low on june 28th, at 14.29 to th high on july 21 at 19.91 . it has retraced back to the 61.8% mark today at a low of 16. 31. i will wait for more confirmation , see where it heads tomorrow,

i drew mine a bit different rickjust but still got the 61.8% retrace, good point

Just bought NVEC at 16.20. 

The low on the day so far is 16.08, slightly below the bottom of the Kumo (cloud) on my chart above.  It's come up a bit off that support, so it seems worth a shot with the low-risk stop.

Stop is a close below the trendline.  Risk: A loss of about 1.6%

NVEC currntly is BID 16.16...ASK 16.20

support found..high of day yesterday broken by bullish engulfing.  Lets see if NVEC wants to follow the book on this move

Yeah, it hammered yesterday and closed just a hair below that up trendline.  If it can hold most of today's gains, that might bring in some short-covering.

ooh thats right melf  a bullish engulfing of a hammer is a strong confirmation of support in my mind.  Candles of power. 

I dunno, eliteG.  It's been sloppy at the trendline, and at the bottom of the Kumo (cloud), but it looks like NVEC has a chance.  It needs to get going to the upside here.

Short Interest currently is 38.78% of the float, but I don't think those guys will get real nervous unless NVEC can take out 19.91 (the July 21 high).  I'm still hanging onto my long position from 16.20.  By my fingernails.
