got my attention some time ago with this news:

______________________________________________________________
Micromet Inc. traded 19 times more than usual, to about 1.6 million, after the drug developer said it extended a collaboration agreement on a new cancer drug with biotech Serono SA.

The drug, adecatumumab, is currently in trials for use in patients with metastatic breast cancer, and the extended agreement includes identifying the best dosing regime and exploration of additional uses for the drug. Under the deal, Serono will pay development costs.

Shares of Micromet rose almost 50 percent Monday after the Carlsbad, Calif.-based company said it received a $10 million milestone payment from Serono SA in connection to the drug development.

a bit more about MITI business.

Micromet, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focusing on the development of novel, proprietary antibody-based products for cancer, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.

Two product candidates are currently in clinical trials.

1.Adecatumumab (MT201) is a recombinant human monoclonal antibody which targets EpCAM expressing tumors with which Micromet has completed two phase 2 clinical trials, one in patients with breast cancer and the other in patients with prostate cancer. In addition, a phase 1b trial evaluating the safety and tolerability of MT201 in combination with docetaxel is currently ongoing in patients with metastatic breast cancer.

2.MT103 (MEDI-538), which is the first product candidate based on the novel a BiTE® product development platform, is being evaluated in a phase 1 clinical trial for the treatment of patients with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in conjunction with MedImmune. The BiTE® product development platform is based on a unique, antibody-based format that leverages the cytotoxic potential of T cells, the most powerful 'killer cells' of the human immune system.

in addition biopharmaceutical company is focusing on the development
of :

Count me in!  I had this on watch for the last week but finally decided to take the plunge.  I hope I don't sink.....I'm suspecting this is just a consolidation phase for the stock.
Current Holdings:  ASTM, STV, SVA, NIHK.ob

Count me out!!  I didn't realize that the stock is so thinly traded.  Not worth my time yet.

Picked up some MITI at 2.91.  Thinly traded stock,  but its back down to the levels where it was before news moved it as high as 4.75 just 3 days ago.  Also had a huge spike in early December to over $5.  Just in it for a trade, but risk to reward is looking good here based just on the chart.

So I am down a bit in this trade so far as the close today was 2.69.  H-o-w-e-v-e-r, I found this:

Affitech Signs License Agreement for Single-Chain Antibody Technology with Micromet
Wednesday March 28, 5:31 am ET

OSLO, Norway--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Affitech AS, the privately held Norwegian biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of therapeutic human monoclonal antibodies, announced today that it has signed an agreement with Micromet AG, a biopharmaceutical company developing novel, proprietary antibody-based products for cancer, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases for a non-exclusive worldwide sub-licenseable research license to the joint patent estate of Micromet and Enzon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in the field of single-chain antibodies (SCA).

Under the terms of the agreement, Affitech will have rights to conduct research involving SCA technology and will have sublicense rights to third parties for the purpose of conducting research, develop or use an SCA product generated by Affitech. No other terms of the agreement were announced.

Announcing the agreement Dr. Martin Welschof, CEO of Affitech said: "While we concentrate on our strategy of becoming a global leader in developing human antibodies for our own pipeline as well as our collaborators, we also remain opportunistic towards bringing innovative technologies in-house. Micromet's proven SCA technology will allow us to leverage our own existing knowhow to enhance our research and product development capabilities."

The first three product candidates in the Affitech pipeline are fully human antibodies for cancer, at least one of which is expected to enter into clinical phase of development by 2008.

About Affitech AS

Affitech is a human therapeutic antibody discovery and development company with headquarters and R&D facilities in Oslo, Norway and its US subsidiary in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Company's current disease focus is oncology and it utilizes two discrete but unique approaches for the discovery of fully human antibodies - (i) Molecule Based Antibody Discovery, and (ii) Cell Based Antibody Discovery. Molecule Based Antibody Discovery involves proprietary PhagemidScreeN and AffiScreeN(TM) technologies and uses validated targets for discovery purpose. Cell Based Antibody Discovery is based on CBAS(TM) technology, which is a "reverse-screening" approach for discovering antibodies and their cognate targets utilizing disease-specific cells. Several of the Company's proprietary product candidates currently in development were generated by CBAS(TM). Affitech also sells its proprietary Protein L product line for the purification of antibody and antibody fragments. Affitech offers collaborators a flexible business model and very competitive price structure with low royalty stacking. The Company has concluded deals with commercial organizations such as XOMA, NatImmune, Peregrine, Viventia, Dyax, and others. Further information at www.affitech.com.

This hastn shown up on the MITI press releases yet.  Here is the chart, I am hoping to see some more spike action when the release does make it out:

IMO this is a safe play at this point (2.86)... 50% chance that it bounces to 3.25 or so, and 50% chance that it stays the same... pretty safe as bounce plays go. If I bought in tomorrow I would give it 3-4 days for the bounce to happen, and if not I would get out.

no position.

Looks like a bounce is starting, up 5% so far today despite the down market.  It is a thinly traded stock, but again I am waiting for some of this recent news I posted about previously to be released by MITI, at which point I may get out.

Guess you are in now Gambler?  If so, welcome on board, I agree its looking up from here.  Im 3 cents from breaking even again, but expect this stock to go higher.

They still dont seem to have released their own version of the news I posted about earlier, so that is still a potential mover for the stock.

YMB posts also indicate that analsysts on this stock had expected a loss of .11 recently but the quarter came in positive, but so far the market hasnt recognized this as its thinly traded and not followed.  Anyway, things are still looking good from a technical standpoint if nothing else, this recent bottom is starting to round out a bit.  May be some resistance around the $3.00 area as we saw today, butafter that its looking good.

New antibody drug helps cells kill blood cancer
Thu Aug 14, 2008 2:05pm EDT

LONDON (Reuters) - A new kind of antibody drug that makes the body's own "killer" cells fight tumors has produced promising early-stage results in patients with a deadly form of blood cancer, researchers said on Thursday.

All seven patients with previously incurable non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) who were given the highest dose of Micromet Inc's experimental drug blinatumomab showed either complete or partial responses.

The results, which were published in the journal Science, are a boost for the concept of harnessing the power of the body's cytotoxic, or cell-destroying, T-cells against tumors.

Until now, scientists have struggled to find a way of triggering a T-cell attack. But blinatumomab works by binding them to cancer cells, allowing the T-cells to more effectively kill the tumor.

Importantly, it does so without setting off uncontrolled T-cell activity. Two years ago six men were left seriously ill when a clinical trial of another experimental drug made by TeGenero went badly wrong.

"It's a very different kind of response," Patrick Baeuerle, Micromet's chief scientific officer, told Reuters. "It does activate the T-cells but it only activates those in contact with a tumor cell, so it is very conditional."

If all goes well, German-U.S. firm Micromet hopes next year to conduct a pivotal clinical trial necessary to win regulatory approval.

The drug, for which AstraZeneca has marketing rights in North America, is also in mid-stage Phase II clinical tests against acute lymphocytic leukemia.

In the Phase I trial reported for NHL, 38 patients were given varying doses of the drug, with 11 of those receiving higher dosages showing major responses and tumor regression, despite being given no other supporting chemotherapy.

There were a number of side effects with the product, which targets a protein called CD19, but most occurred in the first week of treatment and usually normalized.

Significantly, the amount of drug needed was much lower than for existing antibody treatments such as Roche and Genentech's Rituxan/MabThera.

"With these low doses, cost of goods should not be much of an issue," said Baeuerle.
