(PTN), a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to the development of peptide, peptide mimetic and small molecule agonist compounds with a focus on melanocortin and natriuretic peptide receptor systems, today announced results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year ended June 30, 2010. All share and per share amounts are presented on a post-reverse-split basis, giving effect to the 1-for-10 reverse stock split announced on September 24, 2010.

Palatin's net loss for the year ended June 30, 2010 was $1.8 million, or $(0.18) per basic and diluted share, compared to a net loss of $4.8 million, or $(0.56) per basic and diluted share, for the year ended June 30, 2009.

The change in net losses for the year and quarter ended June 30, 2010 compared to the net loses for the year and quarter ended June 30, 2009 was primarily attributable to the varying amount of revenue recognized under Palatin's license and clinical trial agreements with AstraZeneca AB in the respective periods.

COSTS AND EXPENSES

For the year ended June 30, 2010, total operating expenses were $17.2 million compared to $18.7 million for the year ended June 30, 2009. The net increases in operating expenses for the quarter was primarily due to expenses related to Palatin's clinical-stage development programs.
