FUND OVERVIEW

Category: Specialty-Precious Metals
Fund Family: iShares Silver Trust
Net Assets: 3.50B
Yield: N/A
Fund Inception Date: 21-Apr-06
Legal Type: Exchange Traded Fund

FUND SUMMARY
The objective of the investment is to reflect the price of silver owned by the trust less the trust's expenses and liabilities. The fund is intended to constitute a simple and cost-effective means of making an investment similar to an investment in silver. Although the fund is not the exact equivalent of an investment in silver, they provide investors with an alternative that allows a level of participation in the silver market through the securities market.

Another benefit of trading ETFs is that a trader can choose to trade a commodity without getting involved with futures. This gives investors a nice alternative in case the financial markets continue with last year's free fall.

For instance, the iShares Silver Trust (NYSE:SLV) ETF tracks the price of an ounce of silver. In looking at the chart for SLV, it looks like it has been forming a Cup and Handle base with the breakout point at just over $14.
I believe a close above $13.85 would signal a more bullish event.

Technicals...
Silver prices usually slump in the summer.
This year the price has remained in a more narrow trading range.
As more money is borrowed to repair broken economy!!!
Silver provides perception of flight to safety in conjunction with gold.

Equity Research on Silver Wheaton Corp. and Hecla Mining Co. - Silver Prices Shaken in November

Press Release Source: StockCall On Wednesday November 24, 2010, 8:23 am EST
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA--(Marketwire - 11/24/10) - www.stockcall.com/ offers investors comprehensive research on the silver industry and has completed analytical research on Silver Wheaton Corp. Sporadic November silver prices ended the metal's meteoric rise seen throughout much of 2010. A combination of global and domestic economic factors has led to the recent price inconsistencies. A weakened U.S. dollar was partially responsible for silver's price rise earlier this year. The recent strengthening of the dollar has now adversely affected silver prices. The economic crisis in Europe, led by concern over the recent bailout of Irish banks, has weakened currencies in the region and in turn, led to the improvement of the U.S. dollar. Visit www.stockcall.com/ to see how companies in this industry have grown over the past years and how they are expected to perform in the future.

Concerns regarding China raising interest rates have also hurt silver prices recently. If China does raise interest rates as they are expected to, demand for silver could decline, as it would be more financially viable to hold onto the commodity instead of investing further into it. Currently, silver futures for December are down 5.3 percent.

Overall, it's been a strong year for silver and the recent price setbacks caused by the U.S. dollar, the European economy and Chinese interest rates may only be temporary and not reflective of a long-term decline.

Despite silver price concerns revenues are still strong for players in the silver industry such as Silver Wheaton Corp. and Hecla Mining Co. Silver Wheaton reported record earnings with net income doubling to $69.2 million. Silver Wheaton Corp. research report is accessible for free by registering today at www.stockcall.com/SLW241110.pdf.

Conversely, Hecla saw adjusted net income of $29.6 million with sales for the quarter growing to $115.8 million. Hecla Mining Co. research report is available for free by signing up now at www.stockcall.com/HL241110.pdf.

Metals Prices Touch Fresh Peaks
Gold Settles at a Record While Silver Ends at 30-Year High.

NEW YORK—Gold set a record and silver reached a 30-year high Monday as inflation concerns and a weakening euro gave precious metals extra shine.

Front-month December gold futures settled 0.7% higher at $1,415.30 a troy ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange. December silver futures rose 1.6% to $29.705 an ounce.

Investors rushed into both markets following Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernake's comments to CBS's "60 Minutes" Sunday, where he said the Fed might increase its $600 billion stimulus effort ...

Top Strategist: Silver Surging To At Least $50
Should you buy silver on the pullback? According to strategist John Stephenson there's no time like the present.

He thinks silver is on the brink of a surge. In fact, he's calling for silver to hit new record highs - - $50 / ounce. The Fast Money traders were so intrigued by this very bold call they wanted to hear more.

In a live interview Stephenson, the author of "The Little Book Of Commodity Investing" tells the desk that his $50 prediction may be conservative. That's right, conservative.

"If you look at the ratio of silver to gold during the 1970's (which is the last time it hit an all time) it was 16-1." Now that ratio is even greater. "It's currently at 50-1. That would imply silver should be at $88," he says.

***********************************************
John Stephenson's Ways To Play Silver
Silver Futures [SIC1  29.31    -0.057  (-0.19%)   ]
iShares Silver Trust  [SLV  28.61    0.04  (+0.14%)   ]
Pan American Silver [PAAS  40.04    0.4475  (+1.13%)   ]
Hecla Mining [HL  10.77    0.03  (+0.28%)   ]
Silver Wheaton [SLW  36.74    0.31  (+0.85%)   ]

***********************************************

If you're concerned about demand for silver falling off, Stephenson says don't be. He thinks money continues to rotate into silver (and all precious metals for that matter) due to growing "concerns with the level of debt that the government is racking up in the US." In other words Stephenson expects the so-called race to debase will generate investor interest in metals for some time to come.

How should you trade?

Of all the names listed above, Stephenson tells the desk he likes Silver Wheaton best "because it's not really a miner it's a royalty company. And its going to double production over the next two years."

Embrace the challenge, enjoy the journey."

Shorts get crushed again!

In 2010, gold ETFs ballooned as investors sought safety from inflation and diversification from equities. In 2011, the new color of safety may be silver. With oil prices hitting two-and-a-half-year highs, gold has made some notable gains today -- but silver are at the front of the pack. The physically-backed SPDR Gold Shares ETF and equity-backed Market Vectors Gold Miners ETF have gained 0.95% and 1.14%, respectively, as of 1:45 p.m. EST today. The derivatives-backed ProShares Ultra Silver ETF and PowerShares DB Silver ETF, and the physically-backed iShares Silver Trust, gained a respective 6.28%, 3.32% and 3.16% during the same period. I'm all for diversifying the precious metals portion of a long-term portfolio. Though gold and silver ETFs are often lumped together, it's important to remember the differences between the applications of the two metals. New physically-backed platinum and palladium ETFs -- the ETFS Physical Platinum...
