freimuch

the reason why the downgrade is kiliing it so much is beacause jp morgan themselves were pumping this for months  with a 5 target and now they switch gears bunch of crooks definitely killed the momentum sold out this morn. at 3.87 good luck to all

shawFund

Closed at $3.80 and no need to panic sell.

Still above the $3.65 support.

07:44 SYNC Intellisync downgraded to Neutral at JP Morgan on valuation (3.98 )

Downgrade is based on firm's view that the co will trade in line with the mean of their coverage universe, near-term. Firm believes that all of the co's anticipated positive catalysts have played out, saying while guidance issued August 30th, was in line with street expectations, they think there remain uncertainties regarding the gradually declining OEM business and lumpy enterprise demand. Firm's longer-term prospects remain excellent and they expect the co to grow rev by at least 26% CAGR through 2008 and for the co to turn sustainably profitable in late FY07

What a downgrade. It doesn't make much sense to me, it looks like JP Morgan is trading, or wants their clients to trade the stock. Why would you sell when you think «Firm's longer-term prospects remain excellent and they expect the co to grow rev by at least 26% CAGR through 2008 and for the co to turn sustainably profitable in late FY07»

Anyway, technically this wasn't unexpected. The stock came down to almost touch the ascending trendline (it missed just for a tick or 2, we can't be meticulous about this, the market is made by people, not machines) and rebounded strongly at the end of the session.

The stock was left with a bullish reversal candlestick, with a big lower tail and volume above average. For me the plan is simple, hold it for as long as the market perceives the fundamentals as being attractive, and that is translated by «hold for as long as it closes above the ascending trendline which for today will be standing at $3.59».

PerfectSage

Well Dave, so far the plan is working. 3:30pm Friday afternoon is where the trend changed and at 11:00 am this morning a bullish breakout of the 1/2 hour opening range occured. ;)
I wanna be the minority ;)

The downgrade on SYNC has been met with strong buying ( I like that when it happens) The gap down was filled and some more. A nice close and above $4. Will see if this rally can continue.

We can see now the real deal from a technical standpoint is the oblique trendline, not the horizontal support/resistance levels. This probably happens because supports with a slope change everyday, so they aren't so noticed by the public. They become more effective.

SYNC gave us a nice bounce from the ascending trendline support and now a 7.6% rally. The trend remains bullish, and that is even more enforced when we've had a downgrade that has thrown many investors out of the window ... now they need to climb up the elevator (they didn't die, fortunately) and buy SYNC again, because they like the stock, or they wouldn't have own it in the first place.

For today the ascending trendline will stand at $3.63, there's no doubt I want to continue holding SYNC.

Just one more thing, the company issued an interesting press release that you can read here and learn some more about this company: Mobile Deployment 'Tipping Point': Two-Thirds of European Companies Rolling Out Wireless Email for Workers

I like that too. It always feels like the market wants to prove the analysts wrong  ;). And I must say that with all I've read last evening I do not understand the downgrade. Also good news this morning in the press release. It is positive if the market proofs you're wright as a company.

Let's see what effect this will have today.

It looks more and more JP Morgan downgraded SYNC to buy some shares at cheap prices before the good news hit the newswires  >:D

We've had these news today:

Brasil Telecom GSM Chooses Intellisync as Its Platform for Mobile Email and Mobile Data Services

And the stock closed at a new 52 week high with volume above average. There was no gap left, which is a positive for the short term. I will continue holding SYNC.

David Randolph

SYNC = $4.33 > TL = $3.71 => HOLD SYNC

David Randolph

Nothing new on the fundamental or technical picture of SYNC, the stock seems to be consolidating the recent gains on low volume.

The ascending trendline is coming up, at $3.75 today.

PerfectSage

Outta SYNC @ $4.30  :)  Gonna buy ABLE and join overtraders anonymous. LOL

Dave, what do you figure the odds are that the Q's are going to break the support trendline soon for the intermediate term bullish trend that began at the end of April.

I don't think it was a coincidence that you started 3sof at that time. Was it?  ;)

You've traded a stock that was going down slowly for one that went down fast  ::). ABLE was nasty, I must confess I was considering it too, what a false breakout ... (maybe just coming down to close the gap? Don't like the oil sector at this point anyway, but good luck  :)).

I don't know the odds, I'm neutral on the general markets now. I figure there can be another push higher, cleaning all shorts to new highs and then a bear market will start. But day by day I'll keep monitoring my stocks and looking for new opportunities with an attractive risk/reward ratio.

lol, it was a pure coincidence, but of course, the appearance of 3 SOF has improved prospects for the Nasdaq   ;D

Thinking of SYNC, the stock went down a bit but volume was up on Friday, and that's encouraging. I will continue holding the stock, the ascending trendline for tomorrow will be sitting at $3.79.

Just one more thing PerfectSage. Reading your words again I find that you already know what you're doing wrong, but you continue doing it. I've been trading for 10 years now. Since year 2 in trading, I know what's wrong and what's right to do. But only about 3 years from now I actually do the right thing. So, it took me 2 years to find the good side, but it took me 5 years more to learn to stick to it. I hope you take less time than me, learning from yours and my mistakes and successes.

David Randolph

SYNC rose a bit with low volume and no news on Monday. I will keep holding the stock for as long as it closes above its ascending trendline, which for today's session is standing at $3.84.

David Randolph

A 6% rise is always welcome, even more when the general market tanked like it happened today. SYNC closed at the high of the day of $4.56 and that's also the previous intraday high set on the 13th of September. It would be nice if the stock closes above this level tomorrow, that would mean a fresh new 52 week high was in place.

But even if this doesn't happen I will continue holding since the trend is still bullish. The ascending trendline for tomorrow will come at $3.89.
