David,

Thank you for your input. It is wonderful to get direct feedback. That is the best way to learn and better ourselves. You would never get that with any other trading newsletter or website.
You are right, with stocks we tend to let our emotions (positive or negative) get in the way and affect the way we trade.

thank you so much for the insight and looking forward to continue getting your take on SNUS and the other stocks

Thanks ultra1066  :D

I'll continue doing my best and I also have a lot to learn too. It amazes me how much there is to know about trading, yet, I want to inspire people and let them know that it is possible to achieve superior performance, it takes experience, knowledge and specially hard work like in any other business, but it's possible. Those that say it is impossible to beat the market probably never got to that stage, because it takes years of experience, study and sometimes financial pain to get there. If I can help making the path to success in trading shorter for at least some of 3 SOF Honours Members I will be a fortunate man.

SNUS volume is getting weaker and weaker, just about 50,000 shares traded today, that's nothing. But I will stick to the plan in the name of discipline, so I will hold the stock for as long as it closes above the ascending trendline which for tomorrow will be standing at $4.25.

Where did all the volume of the breakout at the 31st of August go?

David Randolph

SNUS is struggling with support here. Volume was too weak for a meaningful advance to unfold. It picked up somewhat today as the stock touched the ascending trendline again. Support for tomorrow stands at $4.26, if SNUS is set to close below the ascending trendline I'll take my loss and move on.

(Perhaps I should learn not to write such titles as «Cash in the pocket», I'll remind that lesson. The rest is normal trading risk)

David Randolph

I specifically said:

QuoteSupport for tomorrow stands at $4.26, if SNUS is set to close below the ascending trendline I'll take my loss and move on.

So all I could do was to take my loss, which I did, selling SNUS at $4.20. So much for «cash in the pocket». A good lesson for me as an analyst, to choose my titles more carefully. As trading goes this was normal trading activity and I have nothing to regret.

Hi David,

Not sure if you still look at a topic after closing the trade, therefore an email. You awaited the closing bell on SNUS, but still sold on the 23rd. I would like to know if this means you sold in the after hours?

Thanks in advance,
Amarens

I already answered you by e-mail Amarens, but let me answer here too: I sold on the regular market session when I saw that SNUS was set to close below $4.26, like I said I would.

I see that the stock closed down 4% on the after hours but that had nothing to do with me  ::)

I hope you don't own these shares anymore, if you do, good luck and be careful, an important support line was broken on the downside.

Here's the intraday and daily chart for SNUS:

(this thread will be removed to the Previous 3 SOF Picks Board)

Amarens

Why?

Was just surprised you sold during tradingday. Understood you never looked intraday.

Unfortunatly do own them and missed all the action on Friday, also would not have acted on intraday movement. That was a tip that gave me much more stability lately... Guess I learned now to set sell orders, when I'm not able to watch them  :-[

Anyway, I lesson learned!

Lets move on to the next!

Sonus Pharmaceuticals Initiates Pivotal Phase 3 Trial of TOCOSOL(R) Paclitaxel for Treatment of Metastatic Breast Cancer
Wednesday September 28, 2:06 pm ET

BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 2005--Sonus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNUS - News) today announced the initiation of the pivotal Phase 3 trial of TOCOSOL® Paclitaxel that is intended to serve as the basis for approval of the product by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The two-arm, randomized study is being conducted under a Special Protocol Assessment (SPA) that Sonus completed with the FDA in June 2005. The trial will enroll approximately 800 women with metastatic breast cancer, who will receive either TOCOSOL Paclitaxel or Taxol® on a weekly dosing schedule.

The Phase 3 study's primary endpoint is objective response rate (ORR), and the New Drug Application (NDA) will be submitted based on analyses of data for that endpoint. Secondary endpoints of progression-free survival and overall survival are included in the trial design, and patient follow-up for those endpoints will continue following NDA submission. The Phase 3 trial will be conducted at approximately 150 clinical study sites in North America, Western and Eastern Europe, South Africa and Israel. The Company is anticipating that patient enrollment in the trial will be completed during the summer of 2006.

"Initiation of this Phase 3 trial is an important milestone towards achieving our goal of commercializing an innovative approach to taxane-based chemotherapy," said Michael A. Martino, president and chief executive officer. "We continue to be highly encouraged by the findings of our previous clinical studies, which suggest that TOCOSOL Paclitaxel may be an active anti-cancer agent that is well tolerated on a weekly basis. With the Phase 3 trial, we are optimistic that our novel TOCOSOL Paclitaxel product may be proven to be a better therapeutic alternative for women with metastatic breast cancer."

TOCOSOL Paclitaxel is a vitamin E-based emulsion formulation that allows a dose of paclitaxel to be infused over 15 minutes, and TOCOSOL Paclitaxel has been shown clinically to deliver substantially more active paclitaxel than can be achieved with Taxol. TOCOSOL Paclitaxel offers the convenience of a ready-to-use formulation that does not require preparation prior to administration, as required with marketed taxane products. Sonus has completed patient enrollment in Phase 2a studies of TOCOSOL Paclitaxel in non-small cell lung, ovarian and bladder cancers and has ongoing Phase 2b studies in breast and bladder cancers.

Ok, I'm gonna start pumping my "pharma stock". I keep finding
positive news. Things in the future are so postive for this company.
They are in phase III of their main product "TOCOSOL". It's an
improvement of an already existing anti cancer drug called
PACLITAXEL.

(Yearly sales of Paclitaxel are in excess of $1 billion. And they are
estimated to grow 20% yoy for 10 yrs. Here's an excerpt from an
article:

"Paclitaxel and related compounds (taxanes) are being evaluated in
new cancer drugs, in cardiovascular stents, and for other health
indications that should expand the market for Paclitaxel
considerably. Paclitaxel annual sales are in excess of one billion
dollars. It is estimated that the demand for Paclitaxel and related
compounds could grow by 20 percent annually over the next 10 years."

this quote found here if you want to read it:

Since they have a product that they, lets say "add" to existing drugs
to improove efficacy, the possibilities of adding their technology to
other drugs to make them better, is endless. They could essentially
add their technology to all anticancer drugs that are injected to
increase their efficacy.

The key to a drug company in this stage is to have money for the
trials. They have no problem there because they recently signed an
agreement with SCHERING to finance the remainder of the study.

Sonus Pharmaceuticals Keeps looking better as they close in on
completing enrollment for phase III for their anti cancer drug Tocosol
Paclitaxel. They have a heavyweight behind them in Schering who signed
a  licensing agreement with SNUS which payed $20 million up front and
includes $132 million more, so money won't be an issue while the
complete the studies. These moneys givem to SNUS is before sales when
they will split profits ( I forget the exact split). Also, this is not
a one drug company as they already are enrolling to start another
study on yet another anti cancer drug. They have a very unique aproach
to the drugs that they are trying to get approved. I'll try to explain
it: They take an allready existing chemo drug and improove it by
adding a "coat" of vitamin to it that helps to administer the drug
faster and easier and also helps stabilize and solubilize it improving
its eficacy, hopefully. I have been long SNUS since October or
November of last year ( i think) and This year and next will be very
good years for SNUS as they move closer to completing phase III, jmo
of course
