Hey, this is J.B.  ;D

I've covered this stock before with nothing but frustration, but we may have something now.

Today, NASA's plan to replace the space shuttle with a spacecraft to take astronauts to the moon and Mars has been approved.

SPAB has been working to build 3 more spacecrafts. Refer to the link below.

The news of the approval today I think corresponds to that of SPACEHABS trio of spacecrafts.

The Float is 10 Million, according to Bloomberg.com.

SPACEHAB Subsidiary Awarded New $1.0 Million NASA Contract
12/22/2005 1:16:01 PM
HOUSTON, Dec 22, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SPACEHAB, Incorporated (NASDAQ/NMS:SPAB), a leading provider of commercial space services, announced today that its Astrotech Space Operations subsidiary has been awarded a new contract by NASA/Kennedy Space Center to provide payload processing services from the Company's high-tech facilities in Titusville, Florida.
The contract, which is valued at approximately $1.0 million, is for the processing of NASA's THEMIS spacecraft. This new mission is part of the indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract that NASA awarded to Astrotech in September 2005 and has a total value of up to $4.9 million.

"We are pleased to be able to support yet another NASA research mission set to answer more questions about the development of our planet and the surrounding universe," stated Jim Royston, Deputy General Manager of Astrotech Space Operations. "With hundreds of successfully processed commercial spacecraft passing through our doors, it is exciting to have continued growth in our government sector initiatives."

The mission, to be launched in 2007 following its preparation activities at Astrotech's facilities, is the Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) program. THEMIS is a five-satellite mission with the job of determining the causes of auroras, a celestial phenomenon that has amazed people for centuries while often looking into the northern skies. The small satellites will be put in carefully coordinated orbits, and every four days they will line up along the Earth's magnetic tail, allowing them to track disturbances. Currently, little is known about the explosive events that create these particles throughout the universe.

Under the previously established NASA ID/IQ contract, Astrotech is also gearing up to support the STEREO observatory and the Dawn mission, both scheduled for launch in 2006. Astrotech provides all support necessary for the customer to successfully process their spaceflight hardware for launch, including advance planning; use of unique facilities; and spacecraft checkout, encapsulation, fueling, transport, and remote control through launch. In its twenty-year history, Astrotech has supported the processing of more than 230 spacecraft without a single impact to a customer's mission launch schedule.

I think SPAB may be in a countdown for take off. Trending upward and bouncing off of support to the upside nicely.  Looks like traders and investors are starting to take interest again.  Last week this billboard won an award, I know it is just a billboard but it really reminds you where humans and Spacehab is headed.  Couple that with many other private companys entering the space race and I think we could be at the beginning of a new era.

Spab continues to trend higher.  She is having a little trouble busting through resistance but I think this will happen tomorrow or next week.  There are no sellers right now and if the buying interest continues to increase we can expect a break of that resistance.  I think the trend will continue upwards in anticipation of the 500 million dollars worth of contracts being awarded at least in part to SPAB.  Here is the quote.  My target would be around $1.50 when May arrives and if the get a substantial portion of those contracts we could see $2.00 -2.50

"The deadline for proposal submission to NASA is March 3, 2006 with one or more awards expected to be announced in May 2006. With a prime bid accepted, SPACEHAB will commence development of its COTS solution, demonstrating its capability to rendezvous and dock with the International Space Station and dispose of or return needed equipment and supplies. According to NASA, the objective of the spaceflight capability demonstrations is to stimulate commercial enterprises in space and lead to innovative, cost effective access to low-Earth orbit. NASA anticipates that upon the successful demonstration of the mission capabilities prior to a 2010 timeframe, NASA will issue contracts to competitively procure commercial services to supply the International Space Station"
