QuoteDave, as the place to find you is on the MEMY Board, just wanted to tell you that I picked up MEMY yesterday at 2.94. Today I bought BMD - Birch Mountain Resources, which had a breakout three days ago. I bought this am at 5.08 and we are up to 5.71 at the close. This is a Canadian company engaging in mineral exploration. I consider it an overlooked mineral play. The move has been on very high volume, around 750k to 1 mill compared with avg vol that is under 250k. Another unknown Nat Gas play is TREN, which was down today, but I am studying now that I am out of NGAS.

I think you may like BMD as it seems to have all the technical characteristics you are looking for. What do you think?

I couldn't find BMD on my database, does that stock trade on the US markets? Thank you. I would avoid natural gas stocks, I'm bearish on energy related stocks at this moment.

QuoteI also bought SVA after reading 35 pages on the stream here. Most impressive, but I got in too high today. I guess the correction was healthy. I am not worried.

Anyway, thought I would give something back to 3stocks. I also dumped my SWB at 5.50 and my AOB at 4.60 today Dont like the way AOB is behaving.

Nice buy on SVA  :). I think you also did well selling AOB and SWB at this juncture.

QuoteThe 9-day and former support is at 2.65 area so it may be an OK entry  - at least if it does not hold then you can sell for a minor loss. you can average in a bit higher and add if it goes a bit lower.

You missed the low of the day for just 1 tick metro, nice call  :D

Considering MEMY the stock is still consolidating between the highs and the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level. Perhaps some people are worried that the people who bought a lot of shares directly from the company at $1.9 might be interested in selling at this point. Nothing can be further from the truth, since they are very long term investors on this stock, and bough a lot more shares at higher prices than the current market level.

Read here from Tuesday's SEC filing (Form SC 13D):

Pursuant to the terms of those certain Securities Purchase Agreements by and between Memory, Venrock Associates and Venrock Associates II, L.P. and various other investors, dated as of September 21, 2005 (each, a "Securities Purchase Agreement," and collectively the "Securities Purchase Agreements"), the Venrock Entities purchased an aggregate of 789,473 shares of Common Stock at a price of $1.90 per share for total consideration of $1,499,998.70 (collectively, the "Shares"). Under the terms of the Securities Purchase Agreements, the Venrock Entities also received warrants to purchase an aggregate of 276,315 shares of Common Stock at an exercise price of $2.22 per share (subject to customary anti-dilution and other adjustments described below) (the "Warrants"). Each of the Warrants is exercisable from March 22, 2006 through September 22, 2010 (the "Exercise Period") and can be exercised in cash. In addition, the Warrants may be "net exercised" at any time during the Exercise Period. The net exercise provision allows the Venrock Entities to receive shares of Common Stock equal to the value of the Warrants without paying the exercise price in cash, but rather by surrendering the number of shares underlying the Warrant having a fair value equal to the exercise price of the shares being acquired. In addition, the exercise price of and the number of shares issuable under the Warrants are subject to customary adjustments in certain events, including capital reorganization or reclassification of Memory's securities, certain mergers, consolidations, sales of substantially all of the assets of Memory and other distributions of Memory. The consideration for the Warrants is included in the aggregate purchase price of the Shares.
The sale of securities to the Venrock Entities described above is part of a private placement by Memory to a number of affiliated and unaffiliated investors (including the Venrock Entities) (collectively, the "PIPE Investors"). The closing of the transaction occurred on September 23, 2005 (the "Closing Date").
Prior to the Securities Purchase Agreements, the Venrock Entities held an aggregate of 1,297,157 shares of Common Stock. These shares were acquired through venture capital investments prior to the Issuer's initial public offering, for an aggregate purchase price of approximately $8,000,002.

The part on bold tells me they bought shares at $6.16 before the company made its IPO. They invested $8,000,002 at that time. Now they invested $1,500,000 more so it makes no sense for them to sell at prices below $6.16.

Technically I think after this consolidation phase the trend will continue to be ascending. I will only stop my position if the stock ever gets to be set to close below the 50% retracement level, which is $2.5.

David:

I dont know what happened but try to write a note and run a spell check, when I finished the check the reply disappeared, so I am writing a  short response.

Also forgot to tell you that I bought NWRE on youe rec (although you sold after 2 days). I actually bought $10 DEC calls at 5.0 and 5.10. Sold yesterday at 7.20 as market sentiment told me time to get out. Will look to re-enter in low 16s or when sentiment improves.

On BMD, the pattern is facinating: up to 5.80 from 4.95, down to 4.95 yesterday, down to 4.50 and now back above 5.0. I had to sell at 4.70 based on my stop-loss discipline but am pissed at myself as it has recovered since. BMD is not nat gas, but rather minerals. Look at stock charts.com to see why I think you will like this.

Also rec ARQL as it has fallen to low 7s. Have bought several times in low 7s (usually sodl in 8s but not this time). I have been accumulating since mid 5s, and if they get FDA approval to go to Phase II on their chekpoint approach to cancer cure, this stock can triple. Read this form Yahoo to get the background:

Thanks for update on MEMY, love that SVA, and am considering HEB

Hello Victor  :) Indeed BDM has an attractive chart pattern, the trend is certainly bullish. But I'm not too keen on commodities, minerals and mining at this point in time.

MEMY continues to trade between the recent highs and the 23.8% Fibonacci retracement level. Volume is drying up on this consolidation phase, which is a bullish indicator to me.

The fact that the stock came down only to the 23.6% retracement, after an 83% rise in just 5 days, tells me this bull trend still has some to go. I expect a white marubozu to new highs anytime soon.

David Randolph

Nothing new for MEMY, on the technical or fundamental side. The consolidation phase is still taking place between the highs and the 23.6% Fibonacci retracement level, which stands at $2.66.

Given the fundamentals and the chart I think the uptrend will resume soon.

What is the safety net on this trade?

For now I really wouldn't like to see MEMY close below $2.5, which is the 50% retracement level, and I would sell if that were to happen.

We've had some positive news after the close, but nothing special:

Memory Pharmaceuticals Highlights Development Programs at the GTCBio Annual Conference on Therapeutic Strategies Against Neurodegenerative Conditions

Technically MEMY opened way too high, at $3, and of course couldn't hold on to those gains. It ended near the lows of the session, and near short term support too.

It is still on that range, between the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level and the highs. I will continue holding the stock, expecting a bullish breakout soon, but I won't tolerate if it is set to close below $2.50, and I'll take a small profit if that were to happen.

Memory Pharmaceuticals Highlights Development Programs at the GTCBio Annual Conference on Therapeutic Strategies Against Neurodegenerative Conditions
Monday October 10, 4:30 pm ET

MONTVALE, N.J., Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Memory Pharmaceuticals Corp. (Nasdaq: MEMY - News) today announced that David A. Lowe, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer, will be presenting pre-clinical data from the Company's clinical development programs at the GTCBio Annual Conference on Therapeutic Strategies against Neurodegenerative Conditions in Boston.

The presentation will highlight the potential benefits of developing memory enhancing neuroprotective drugs and feature pre-clinical data demonstrating the cognitive enhancing and neuroprotective properties of MEM 1003, the Company's lead development candidate. The data that will be presented demonstrates that animals dosed with MEM 1003 showed improvements in a variety of tests predictive of beneficial cognition and learning effects in humans, and that MEM 1003 protected against beta-amyloid toxicity in neuronal cultures.

MEM 1003 is a neuronal L-type calcium channel modulator that Memory Pharmaceuticals is developing for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease, a progressive neurodegenerative disorder for which there is no known cure. By modulating L-type calcium channels, MEM 1003 may regulate the flow of calcium and re-establish normal levels of calcium, thereby enhancing cognition and reducing progression of the disease.

Memory Pharmaceuticals has completed a Phase 1 study in healthy, young and elderly volunteers and recently announced the completion of dosing in a safety and tolerability study in Alzheimer's patients under a U.S. Investigational New Drug Application. The Company is preparing to initiate a Phase 2a study for MEM 1003 in patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease.

Check out AGEN:

NEW YORK, Oct 10 (Reuters) - Antigenics Inc. (AGEN.O: Quote, Profile, Research) said on Monday a preliminary analysis showed its Oncophage skin cancer vaccine failed to meet the primary goal of a trial, but seemed to prolong survival in a group of patients, lifting its shares 11 percent.

the volume today exceeded any in 5 years; had to be a lot of short covering; should be more tomorrow after a gap up. We're about $.70 from a five-year low; I think we're up from here, folks, into the end-of-month conference and CEO's revelations at that time. Looking at $7.00 by beginning of conference and a pop to $8 during/after conference. For best CEO's highlights and description of attitude of company officials see CBS Market Watch's version of the CEO'S comments.Forecart of M1 patients producing $200-300M annually and crossover to other cancers probable. David, any comments on today's drop so far? based on vol and intraday chart, is it tree shaking or thing going other way, for people holding with loss on it, what do you think?

David:

I must assuem that you sold in the late day as it was set to close below 2.50. Clearly as it approached this price, the selling volume picked up significantly. I took your rule to heart and sold all I could from 2.39 upwards to mid 2.40s. Still have a few thousand shares left though.

Also, HED closed below 1.96 but I did not take action yet. Did you sell or will you be selling since the downward threshold was violated?

Congrats on SVA and VICL to day by the way - I made a lot of money on SVA; I also have one of my ROTH accounts entirely in SVA - dont tell me that I have no diversification though. MY Roth went up 20% today!!; wish that could happen every day. I also made good money on HOM and CHK!  But losing on HED, MEMY and ARQL cut my gain in half; overall an up 3% day in my investmnet/trading portfolio overall. In fact since I started my new program 75 days ago, I am up close to 70%, of which I owe some of that to 3stocksonfire.org. Just so you know I am semi-retired and do this for a living now, to apy the ex-wife, mortgae, etc, etc.

I think you have a live-long member in me  - just wanted to say thanks.

But do tell me did you sell MEMY and HEB?

Also, take a lok at SYS?? I think this may meet your criterion - curious what you think.

Best

Here's what I said:

QuoteIt is still on that range, between the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level and the highs. I will continue holding the stock, expecting a bullish breakout soon, but I won't tolerate if it is set to close below $2.50, and I'll take a small profit if that were to happen.

So I dumped MEMY by the close at $2.40, taking just a 9% profit.

I really couldn't tell, on an intraday basis, if support at $2.50 was going to hold or not. I can't comment on intraday developments since I design a trading plan, when the market is closed, and I follow it.

I really don't consider intraday information ... just imagine if I were to consider it, how many analysis on each stock that I hold would I have to do during the day? Millions of thoughts on every tick change ... I used to do that, when I was younger, but now I'm tired. And my money is growing faster and more steadily since I stopped watching every tick on the intraday.

Good luck for those who continue to hold MEMY, I'm out, according to the plan, unfortunately the trend is no longer bullish ...

lbotez

ouch!

I'm still in this stock.  I see 3stocksonfire exited at 2.40.

If there is no bounce, I'm out too!

David - I did the same amd dumped most at 2.40, but still could not offload some shares at 2.38 - will do so this am

David, MEMY is not dead. look at this, I think the stock was pushed down from 3 10/10 open to 2.38 10/11 close was for them to get cheap option price.
