UPDATE 1-New Xbox in short supply, gamers want premium unit
Tue Nov 22, 2005 06:25 PM ET
(Updates eBay sales and average price)

By Lisa Baertlein and Nicole Maestri

LOS ANGELES/NEW YORK, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Graduate student Christopher Thompson set out early on Tuesday morning with the goal of taking home a new Microsoft Xbox 360 video game console and was one of the lucky ones to succeed.

Thompson, 27, was sixth in line when he showed up at 4 a.m. at a Costco in Santa Clarita, California, north of Los Angeles. A winning raffle ticket let him snatch up one of 48 Xbox 360s in the store.

"I feel great that I have it, but I feel bad that people who were there before me didn't get one," he said.

The sleek white machine from Microsoft (MSFT.O: Quote, Profile, Research) is the first of a new generation of gaming consoles that offer more power, nearly movie-quality graphics, and connect gamers over the Web and to their computers and music players.

Retailers, who would not reveal how many units they received for the North American debut of the Xbox 360, reported widespread sell-outs on the system, which is the first from a major console maker in four years.

By the early afternoon in California 2,300 machines had traded on auction Web site eBay (EBAY.O: Quote, Profile, Research) for an average of price $660. The new Xbox sells for $400, with a 'core unit' derided by some hard-core gamers because it lacks a hard drive to let it play older games, going for $300.

With millions of XBOX 360 that will be sold, demand for GameZnFlix will only climb!

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/051122/precious_xboxes.html?.v=5

Internet retailer Amazon.com Inc. and the Web sites for Circuit City Stores Inc., Best Buy Co. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. all listed the consoles as being sold out Tuesday. Best Buy spokesman Jay Musolf said the company also sold out...

Microsoft has said it plans to sell 3 million of the new Xbox 360 consoles worldwide within 90 days of its launch.

The Redmond company has said it is producing Xboxes as fast as it can, and that there aren't any production problems. Some retailers have said they expect to be able to restock their shelves weekly between now and the holidays, although most won't divulge how many consoles they will get each week for competitive reasons.

Thanks rurouni!

What a strong finish for GEPT with $0.98 gain!

Now to the crazy and exciting realm of "fractional daytrading!"

With more than "doubling" gain of GZFX.OB the last two days, profit taking was more than anticipated.  GZFX dipped to $0.0170, but rebounded to $0.0185.

Yes, call me nuts, but I bought 1 million shares of GZFX at $0.0175 - $0.0177 to do "fractional daytrading" where 1/10th of penny = $1,000.  Yes, this is one "heck" of a way to day trade, but $0.0015 gain = $1,500 on 1 million shares.

=I DO NOT recommend fractional daytrading to anyone!  It is very volatile and you MUST have very STABLE and FAST internet connection!!! =

If you speculated with GZFX (with money you don't mind never seeing it again), I would hold for long term gains (I would say for now $0.03 - $0.10 as the near future sell target).

I pasted GameZnFlix and Circuit City intraday charts to compare with Netflix, Blockbusters and Best Buy.

As GZFX rebounded in the afternoon, NFLX, BBI and BBY seem to have dipped.  Who knows if this means anything, but I must be "nuts" to buy 1 million shares of GZFX, right?  ;)

Have a nice Thanksgiving everyone!

I believe today's $0.98 gain for GEPT was solely due to the airport order news.  I am not certain if the gains will continue or if GEPT is even "trendable" at this time.  Time will tell on next market open.   ;)

XBOX 360 and console gaming will continue to be "BIG" this holiday/Christmas season.  GameZnFlix being partnered with Circuit City and being included in every Circuit City weekly flyer under DVD/Game pages and on CC website will only increase the membership and exposure to GZFX.  My son is a "die hard" first person shooter gamer (America's Army, Quake,  Call of Duty, Doom, Unreal Tournament, etc.) and services like GameZnFlix allows gamers to "try out" $50 - $60 games before deciding to buy them.  And of course, like DVD, each week, there are new game titles being released to consumers, and there lies the "continued viability" of services like GameZnFlix.  IMHO

Here's today's news link about Circuit City:

Some homework on gzfx, cc
by: zen_reflection (26/M/Omaha, Ne)
Long-Term Sentiment: Strong Buy    11/23/05 09:44 am

Do your own investment homework. My thoughts are my own; I provide them to clarify the pro/con position of CC and GZFX for myself alone. I share them to give a point of further research for someone else. Good luck.

I still state that CC will continue to be around $20-25 this holiday season with a january effect drop back down to the high teens until mid summer. What I'm underestimating are the strength of DVD sales and the appearance of xbox360 marketing. If Sony does the same thing with their marketing in spring 2006 and CC continues to capitalize on both Sony and Microsoft's gain in DVD rentals and sales, then we could see CC in the twenties for most of 2006 with a target of $28. It'd take something incredible to push them to $30.

My previous position of a GZFX target of 0.05 by the end of the year is looking to happen. I still believe that pending an agreement by CC for a longer term deal that GZFX could reach 0.50 and if the business plan pitched at the investor's conference is well executed, then a target price that pushes upwards of $5-$10 even without a possible reverse stock split. It all depends on how Q4 2005 looks.

A death knell for GZFX would be losing the deal with CC.

Privately, I wonder if GZFX has the markings of a 5-10 dollar stock. NFLX continues to hover at $29 with a market cap of 1.59B. GZFX shows an existing market cap of 18.87M.

Signs of a stronger position for GZFX would be the release of more information regarding the success of their xbox360 offering, as we will see a repeat of this with Sony and Nintendo in 2006.

http://biz.yahoo.com/iw/051123/0102130.html

Signs of weakness would be

1. public disclosures of inability to meet shipments. There have been no disclosures.
2. signs of a bad relationship with CC. None seen.
3. Technicals that don't add up. A 5% overhead on the last investment go around is something to keep an eye on, but it isn't unreasonable.
4. Fundamentals that change. Deviation from the stated business plan would be something else to keep an eye on.

There'll likely be a sell off at 0.03, witha drop back to 0.02 once or twice, and then there'll be momentum to push 3 to 4 after thanksgiving to pre-christmas.

CLARIFICATION AND APOLOGY!!!

The circular pictured below is not for Thanksgiving day, as I had previously posted.
Instead it looks to be the one for this weekend's newspaper.

My humblest apologies to the entire board for this error.

FF4, though I erred, thanks for giving me the benefit of the doubt.
