When "MoneyTV" announced they would interview Sporns on the floor of AMEX, there were those who posted on the Yahoo boards that the company was about to be listed. I think a fair number of speculators came in on this assumption.

This kind of easily-misread signal is not what I like to see from a company that has my money in their care. But that alone isn't enough to turn me away.

Secondly, however, their IR consultants are placing them with too many financial touts that specialize in the paid pump. That alone, as I've mentioned before, is not of great concern if there is real news behind the PR.

But third, there is the "big news," the LOI. The thing about LOIs is they represent less than a commitment; you can't even call an LOI a promise! And why must this foundation whose intent is funding go nameless? What reason have we to believe that this funding will be on terms that are beneficial to stockholders? The mention of a "foundation" implies a grant -- entirely "free money." Why do I doubt that this is the case?

Does the idea of a foundation grant underwriting corporate expansion not sound "fishy" to anyone besides myself? Granted, they produce "very high quality, toxin-free products and doing tremendous good for communities," but aren't there many non-profits engaged in equally beneficial efforts that are desperate for "funding" (whatever Norbert means by this term).

So it's not a wonder to me that shorts, naked or otherwise, are being attracted by HQSM like flies to u-know-what, and no surprise in the recent downward momentum.

The fundamentals seem still good, but this management style is pushing HQSM nearer to the category of firms like HYRF and EYII.

I've reduced my holdings considerably. I stand ready to re-enter only if there is evidence that real news will replace the hype. Surely the #1 importer of Tilapia must have an occasional contractual win they can brag about? Give me real news, not a LOI from an unamed entity.

If the hype continues, and if the stock gains share-price due to hype, I will be viewing HQSM strictly as a short candidate.
If you must smite, post why so I can improve myself.

I think we all still have HYRF and EYII in the back of our minds  :-[ :-[ I most certainly do and will be reminded every day till they're back up and I'm out of the loss.

Still, HQSM does not remind me of them. I don't read bragging and the fundamentals are great!. The thing I do not like at the moment is that HQSM broke the ascending TL riding .004 per day. Yesterday that was at $ 0,446  :-X. That makes me very careful today. I'll watch it and if it goes down further I'll take profits and maybe get back in at a lower level. I'm not willing to lose more of my profits.

I'll be watching with you guys today.  If the last 3 days' support at .42 fails, I'll probably be out.  One consolation is that yesterday's close was right at the 50% fib retracement level drawn from the late September run.  As long as HQSM doesn't close below that, the bullish run can be considered intact.  Watching....

Did you read David's email this AM?

"Today I made the though decision of selling all the penny stocks held in the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio. You can read the explanation here: Current General Market Overview."

I hanen't found anything that mentions HQSM specifically, but I guess "all" means "all."
If you must smite, post why so I can improve myself.

basonista

I think you are right, robt.  I'm sure he will "cleanse" the entire pennies portfolio.  I sold HQSM already.  It is not looking strong at this point and the technicals continue to break down.

I am modifying my view of the OTC stocks more and more and am concluding that penny land is for traders and not investors.  I know you will find that rare diamond in the rough and be able to hold long term but most pennies are operating in a seriously impaired financial climate and must either dilute the share base or sign up for risky or questionable financing just to stay in business.  I would rather trade the pennies and hold more stable companies for the long term.

Just one trader/investor's opinion. :)

twodachsie

So much for awesome fundamentals. I'm thinking I'll cut my losses and swallow the 19% I'm down on HQSM. Looking like it will drop further.  :-\

After much soul searching, I decided to hang on to HQSM. I like the business they're in and feel there is potential. I myself think twice before eating farm raised fish because I've read that wild caught actually contains fewer contaminants like heavy metals. However, wild caught is generally more expensive. This is no momentum play, certainly, but I believe in the long term value. Good luck to HQSM holders!   ;)

I'm hoping to see HQSM hold around this range.  This is right on the 50% fib retrace level between about .15 and .58, the whole of the bull move.  Consolidation in this area will provide me some comfort.  It goes below .35, I'll take my loss.  I'm in small at .42.

NEWS FLASH: Fish farming or "aquaculture" has become a multi-billion dollar industry, and more than 30% of all the sea animals consumed are now raised on these "farms." Aqua farms can be based on land or in the ocean, and this sector has been hailed as an answer to declining wild fish stocks caused largely by over fishing. HQSM has already enjoyed immense success and is fast becoming a solution for the significant declines seen worldwide over the last several decades.

Aquaculture is growing three times faster than land-based animal agriculture, and fish farms will surely become even more prevalent as our natural fisheries become exhausted. HQSM appears to be poised to capture an even larger part of this rapidly growing sector.

HQ SUSTAINABLE MARITIME IND., INC (OTC BB:HQSM.OB - News)

Investment Highlights

--  Aquaculture is one of the fastest-growing segments of the United
    States agricultural economy
--  Global demand for fish, especially in the US, has reached new all-time
highs as fishing catches are quickly being depleted
--  Value of aquaculture production in the US  exceeds 1 billion
--  China is the world's largest aquaculture producer, accounting for 68%
of all aquaculture products. India is second.
HQ Sustainable Maritime Industries, Inc. is an integrated aquaculture and aquatic processing company, with operations based in the environmentally pristine island province of Hainan, in China's South Sea. HQSM's activities include using renewable ocean resources, practicing cooperative sustainable aquaculture, and conducting fish processing and sales. Its variety of farmed and ocean-harvested product -- ranging from tilapia and shrimp to squid and red snapper -- are sold around the world. Since we initiated coverage back in late September, HQSM has demonstrated its ability to deliver revenue and earnings growth. A number of factors help HQSM manage the growth because they bring state-of-the-art technologies to the fishing and aquaculture industries. HQSM is China's leading producer of quality tilapia fish exports to the United States.

HQSM possesses key characteristics that should command it a premium in the market. These attributes include a strong, experienced management team with a proven track record for building shareholder value in the aquaculture business. Successful execution of its processing plant allows for 200 tons of capacity per day, which meets or exceeds all international standards, including the highest environmental standards for waste treatment. HQSM has met its benchmarks for its original rollout strategy involving its processing plant.

STRATEGIES & INVESTMENT CONCLUSIONS

The company continues to increase market share in the fish processing market by providing innovative and cost-effective solutions, including harvesting, processing, sales, and marketing of farm-bred and ocean harvested products. As well as having the capability of freezing storage facilities with capacity of 3,000 metric tons and aquatic processing bases in Hainan. The Company seeks to expand products and services within the faster-growing, increasing demand oriented industry that fish farms offer. On October 17, HQSM reported that a financial partnership agreement was executed with Amalgamated Resources Holdings, Inc (ALPS), a Florida based corporation, for loan guarantees of up to $70 million. ALPS estimated the guarantees, when fully deployed over the next five years, will translate into an 8 fold increase in market cap, a 7 fold increase in sales and 7 fold earnings per share increase.

It's easy to see why we are so favorable on the future of HQ Sustainable. In just a few short months the company has already exceeded our expectations and has risen over 45%. And that looks to be just the tip of the iceberg. For investors, we believe the near-term opportunity for HQSM stock is its potential for achieving relatively visible, high cash flows that would be created by rapidly increasing revenues enabling the company to cut costs and increase production. Consequently, we believe that due to improving operations and more likely increasing cash flows, this stock is going up. We now raise our short-term price from $1.25 to $1.75.

Weiner dogs secretly rule the world!

gri64

Hi JKN, robt, fousc and all other traders,

Unfortunately, to my mind two last news were not real and serious. I'm still holding but  with a huge doubts...

Any comments will be appreciated  ???

twodachsie

gri - I view the new corporate facility as a strategic move targeted toward increasing company visibility in a geographic area where fish are big business. Increased visibility (and, of course, competent management and solid products/services) may help growth. Profits are up. Of course, with any penny stock it is wise to be skeptical. Why do you say the latest news is not "real" or "serious" ?
