I remember a great movie in the 80's called «L'ours», or «The Bear» in english... but was not about the markets, was really about the story of 2 Bears (animal)...

Like your nick ;)

NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Genta Inc. (GNTA) plans to ask regulators on Thursday to approve its cancer drug, Genasense, for the treatment of a type of leukemia.

The Berkeley Heights, N.J.-based biotech firm will begin filing a new drug application with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, a process that should take about six months, Dr. Raymond Warrell, Genta's chairman and chief executive, told Dow Jones Newswires.

Genta also will announce Thursday that it has applied for approval with the European Medicines Agency to market Genasense to treat metastatic melanoma.

Genasense works by inhibiting a protein manufactured by cancer cells that is thought to reduce the success of chemotherapy drugs. Genta's FDA application proposes the use of Genasense in combination with chemotherapy to treat patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, or CLL, Warrell said.

The filings are crucial for Genta, Warrell said, coming a year after an FDA panel voted not to approve Genasense for the treatment of melanoma.

"This is the beginning of a new time for us," Warrell said.

Genta thinks recently released clinical data showing success using Genasense with chemotherapy to treat patients with advanced CLL will help convince the FDA to approve the drug, he said.

Although the FDA rejected Genta's melanoma filing last year, the company has since presented further data that it hopes will persuade the European agency to approve Genasense to treat that disease. Further, if the FDA approves the drug to treat CLL, Genta likely will ask the agency to expand the drug's label to include melanoma, Warrell said.
