Informatica Shares Climb on Scripps Deal

Informatica Shares Rise After Company Announces Software Deal With E.W. Scripps Cable Networks


NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of Informatica Corp. traded higher Wednesday, after the company said E.W. Scripps Co. agreed to buy its software for Scripps' cable networks, which include Food Network and Home & Garden Television.


Informatica's shares rose 65 cents, or 5.6 percent, to $12.22 in afternoon trading on Nasdaq. Since the year began, the Redwood City, Calif., company's stock has gained more than 50 percent.

Informatica's software is designed to help companies manage large data warehouses. Scripps will use Informatica's products in an effort to gauge the performance of its networks' Web sites.

Scripps also publishes newspapers including the Denver Rocky Mountain News and Commercial Appeal in Memphis, Tenn. In addition to Food Network and HGTV, Scripps' cable networks include home-improvement focused Do It Yourself Network, Fine Living and Great American Country. Shares of Scripps were down 9 cents, to $47.43 in late afternoon trading.

Should make the ibd 100 this week.  Giving it some added expoxure.  It did not hold it last time - has to stay above 15
