SEARCH for the stock you are posting on before starting a new thread!

Please do a search of the stock you are wanting to post on before starting a new thread. Chances are there is already one started...

We have 4-5 VPHM threads, 3 bcon, 2-3 ELN, 2-3 CPST....etc

3SOF Staff,

Is there anyways you could maybe post something very viewable on the website telling people to  do a search on the stock they are posting on before starting a new thread... something that stands out would be nice. I am guilty of violating this rule in the past also but have not since someone pointed it out. My point being I think new posters do not realize they need to do this...

We have 2-3 INTC's, 2-3 BCON threads, 3-4 SIRI threads... its nobodys fault. Maybe a explicit suggestion posted at the top of the forum would help with this issue.

Thanks   :P

It's in the forum rules, but I guess most are not reading them.

A Few Tips for better using the board:
- Before posting a new topic about a stock, use the Search Feature to find any Topic already started with the same Ticker that meets your subject. That way, we assemble our subjects together, and it's a lot easier for everybody to discuss them. Post your topic on the right board. Note: The Administrators and moderators can merge topics together if they think it's better for the community, they can also move topics from one board to another.

True, calven.

But some of the threads are on different boards, and then it's understandable with more threads.

I'd really like to see some sort of index, as the search-function does not always work well.

It is confusing... ;)
Happy trading...

Well it's obvious this thread isn't getting much attention, it's been here all day and only had 23 views. I thought I would bump it back up so maybe it will be read over the weekend. Just today there has been new threads started on VPHM,ANAD,RADS and EXTR. Some of them are older threads, but there is still a lot of valuable info there.

I posted in the abuse of a smite thread that the ones that should be smited are the ones that don't do a search before starting a new thread and I have been smited twice since then.

It would be so much easier and cleaner if we didn't have multiple threads for every stock.I'm just giving my opinion. It is in the forum rules. I read them before my first post on here.I'll probally get smited again for voicing my thoughts.

Have a good weekend.

Applaud all of your posts... Yes there is often the need for multiple threads since they are under different topics. However, I am talking more about "flagrant" dubplicate posts. IE- INTC.. there were 7-8 posts and then someone started another thread when the older thread was up to date. Same situation for EXTR and NVAX, CPST, VPHM etc.

I am just suggesting an explicit message on top of the page that would help new members who dont realze they need to do a search first. Yes it is posted in the forum rules but lets face it many people dont read or even forget these rules. There are 653 "forum rule" thread views and we have 4k members. Somehow I doubt everyone read the rules.  ;D

Cant say I would support smiting someone for dubplicate threads because sometimes the search results dont show multiple threads or newbies might not know how to search. Maybe the 3SOF staff could come up with a solution.  :P

Thanks,
Cal

Amen to this thread.I agree with you 100%!!!
All multiple threads on the same board should be merged.
I have seen picks with over a half a dozen different threads.
And if you know you were having some comments to say about a stock and it has all these different threads you then have to do a search to find the thread that you first posted to with your thoughts, as to keep your thoughts on the stock pick in one place.
If you have been given a smite for your thoughts here I will applaud you now and through out the day to give back what was taken away from you (stocks2watch2) from an obvious abuse of the smite. And to think it is a person with 50 post or over that abused you with a smite. The history of a stock pick with everyone's comments on one(1) thread is a good thing.
I gave up on trying to make traders understand this for I was given the smite for this same thing,And will not be surprised if it happens now.
But Applaud for this thread .....It makes sense!
"Merge all multiple threads " I don't care if you started the thread on a pick, just as long as we can profit from the stock!!!!

This is definately an issue on many boards and I think it may have a simple fix.  What do you think:

The Subject Title should be a ticker symbol (perhaps followed by the name of the company?..i think this will make search easier) and that is all.  No other comments about the current state of the stock in the heading.

So one thread per stock symbol.  There are negatives to this of course:

Minuses

-Somebody may start the thread with "what do you guys think of this?"  I dont know but I'm thinking thats not a great way to start a topic about a stock?  I mean if you brought it up you must have some more info that you like about it?

-I dont know rules suck sometimes and can take creativity away.

-for this to really work the date of a post needs to be displayed more prominitly(BIG and BOLD)

Plusses

+The history of all our(members past and present) research and discussion is right there for you.  I can't say enough about the advantage of this.  We have some really bright people here.. we can make a heck of a lot of money.

+search should work a lot better but topics can be merged easy and quick if you dont find what you are supposed to find.

The Vision

A board where a simple click gives you all you need.  Where money flocks to board members like the salmon of capistrano.  Where yahoo fools and raging pumpers are smited to the very ground but where applause reigns supreme.

...Or as close to that as we can get.  ;)

Very well stated EliteG !
You are genius, as well as one hell of a stock picker.
A simple man, with a simple fix!  ;)

Also would like to applaud you guys. Personally I also like eliteg and other's ideas. However, I think  first some of the "senior" members need to start a trend... Basically I am thinking that if we all agree upon eliteg's format for thread titles,  I am hoping everyone else will follow. I also dont really like the "what do you think of XYZ" thread titles... Why not just type "SYMBOL (XYZ) - COMPANY (XYZ)" and type "what do you think?" inside the thread via post.

Otherwise private message somebody...with "what do you think of MSFT" type of questions.

If we come to an agreement on thread title format we still have the problem of people not searching for previous started threads. Anyone have solutions for this? The 3SOF staff might get tired of merging all these dup threads. It would be easier and a lot less work for them to not have to do this in the first place.

I think thread title and dup threads are two key but simple ideas which seperate this community from yahoo and raging bull message boards. I think we need to take steps to fix this. Glad I have support...  ;D

Is my "OUTL - Outlook Graphics" thread title what you had envisioned eliteg??

Thanks folks....

I think this message fits in here, so why not re-posts again ;)

You know sometimes the problem here they posting subject that gets outdated very fast..

Example #1:
1.)  CTUM.OB 7m float insider buying! (pretty soon CTUM will be 8m float, or 6, 9 and so on that is why sometimes others are forced to make new thread)

Example #2:
2.) MOTG...up 40%  (this one is up 40% 11 days ago... why not make a subject that last as long as the stock exist or just simply put "MOTG" the main subject the ticker itself)

Example #3:
3.) CGPN-up over 160% on news (this one is up 160% a month ago--- that will be confusing with newbies or new to this website)

1) PHBT pure water play (this one is an example of long lasting subject...forever i believe as long as the stock is here)
2) My pick on CYAD (good subject)
3) MBAH-triple bottom (bad subject)
4) XSNX up 100% today, why? (bad subject)
5) SWKJ.OB – On High Alert... (this one was ok)

I GOT ALL THESE SUBJECTS FROM PENNY STOCK PICKING....

If we could just change the main subject (the very first post) there will be no problem ...maybe Ramsburg can help  ;)

Terlisa ;)

When running a Search one of the columns in the output is "Date Posted" which is the original date of the thread. Of more relevance would be a "Date of Last Post" which would show the last time anyone posted a message to that thread.

Here we go again, multiple threads on the same stock ??? Please do a SEARCH before starting a new thread, and if there is one already started then post in it, that way ALL the imformation will be on ONE thread. Thank You.

setravis

Chances are there is a up and running thread on the stock you are
thinking about submitting a post on...  ;)
Post it to the existing thread...
