GNTA SEEMED TO SHOW GREAT MOVEMENT TOWARDS 2.24 THEN BACKED OFF. IMO BACKFILLING AT 2.14 IN THE AFTERNOON. I STILL HOLD MY SHARES FROM 2.05 WAS GOING TO SELL OVER 2.20 BUT WITH THIS PR HOLDING.

TECHNICALLY I WAS GOING TO GET OUT 2.20'S ANYWAY, BUT FEEL THE SELLING IS DONE. EXPECT ANOTHER TEST OF 2.20'S SOON IF AT THAT POINT CAN'T HOLD I'LL SELL. OTHERWISE IF BREAKS THROUGH WE CAN SEE BREAKOUT.

I THINK GNTA WILL THROW ANOTHER PR THIS PR TODAY IS KIND OF A SETUP IMO.

marketgainer.com: Releases Coverage for Genta Incorporated
Tuesday , May 30, 2006 13:16 ET

May 30, 2006 (M2 PRESSWIRE via COMTEX) -- Market Gainer is quickly emerging as the one stop shop for international small-cap investors looking to stay a step ahead of the markets. Today's activity on the markets has brought these companies to the attention of our research team. On the NASDAQ exchange Genta Incorporated (NASDAQ:GNTA), is responding to the attention of investors. We have also identified an independent resource exploration and production company, whose current projects range from the production of natural gas and oil in Alberta to the exploration for minerals such as copper and gold in Mongolia. Our goal is to create a community of international investors who consistently and effectively capitalize on the enormous gains the small-cap Canadian and American exchanges offer.

Genta Incorporated (Nasdaq: GNTA) announced that several abstracts related to Genasense (oblimersen sodium) Injection, the Company's lead anticancer compound, will be featured at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Atlanta, GA during June 2-6, 2006. The abstracts include the following:

Poster presentations:

-- Pooled Safety Analysis of Oblimersen Alone or with Fludarabine and Cyclophosphamide in Patients with Advanced Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Poster #FF9; Saturday, June 3, 2006, 8:00 am-12:00 pm; Building B, Level 1, Hall B5.

-- Impact of Prognostic Markers on Outcomes in Patients with Advanced Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Treated with the Regimen of Fludarabine/Rituximab plus Oblimersen (Bcl-2 Antisense). Poster #FF7; Saturday, June 3, 2006, 8:00 am-12:00 pm; Building B, Level 1, Hall B5.

Each of these abstracts can be viewed on the ASCO website at: http://www.asco.org.

Publication:

-- Clinical Characterization of First Cycle Reactions in Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Treated with Oblimersen.

-- Baseline Serum Lactate Dehydrogenase Levels are Highly Predictive of Superior Outcomes in Patients with Advanced Melanoma: Results from Extended Follow-up from the Dacarbazine/Oblimersen (Bcl-2 Antisense) Multinational Trial.

-- Oblimersen in Combination with Dacarbazine Prolongs Prognostic Factor- Adjusted Overall Survival (OS).

-- A Phase II Trial of Oblimersen Sodium (G3139) in Combination with Doxorubicin (DOX) in Advanced Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC).

-- A Phase I Study of G3139 (Genasense) in Combination with RICE Chemotherapy in Relapsed non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (NHL).

Genasense inhibits production of Bcl-2, a protein made by cancer cells that is thought to block chemotherapy-induced apoptosis (programmed cell death). By reducing the amount of Bcl-2 in cancer cells, Genasense may enhance the effectiveness of current anticancer treatment. Genta is pursuing a broad clinical development program with Genasense evaluating its potential to treat various forms of cancer.

Following this announcement, Genta Incorporated (NASDAQ:GNTA), was trading up over 6% in early trading. The Market Gainer Research Team will continue to gauge the short and long term affects that this announcement will have on the company.

update:

Eradication of Minimal Residual Disease Reported in Patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Treated with Chemotherapy Plus Genasense(R)
Saturday , June 03, 2006 08:30 ET

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J., June 3, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Genta Incorporated (Nasdaq: GNTA) announced the presentation of data showing that its lead anticancer drug, Genasense(R) (oblimersen sodium) Injection, induced remissions that were associated with elimination of minimal residual disease (MRD). These results were assessed by flow cytometry when Genasense treatment was employed in combination with fludarabine plus cyclophosphamide or rituximab (Rituxan(R); Genentech/IDEC) in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Data from these studies were presented today at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Atlanta, GA.

Flow cytometry is a laboratory method whereby small numbers of leukemia cells can be detected that would otherwise be missed by conventional techniques. Under certain circumstances, the elimination of MRD has been proposed as a surrogate marker for other measures of patient benefit.

In the Phase 3 study, 241 patients were treated with fludarabine plus cyclophosphamide (Flu/Cy) with or without Genasense. This randomized trial met its primary endpoint: the addition of Genasense increased the proportion of patients who achieved CR/nPR from 7% in the Flu/Cy-only arm to 17% in the Genasense arm (P = 0.025). With 24 months of minimum followup, the duration of CR/nPR was significantly longer in patients treated with Genasense compared with patients who received Flu/Cy-only (median = not reached vs. 22 months, respectively; P = 0.03). Flow cytometry measurements for MRD were available for 21 of 28 patients who achieved CR/nPR: 16 of 20 patients on the Genasense arm and 5 of 8 on the Flu/Cy-only arm. Data presented today showed that 69% of CR/nPR patients in the Genasense group showed no residual disease by flow cytometry compared with 40% of CR/nPR patients in the Flu/Cy-only group.

In an ongoing Phase 2 study evaluating the safety of combining Genasense with fludarabine plus rituximab (FRG), 18 of 24 patients have achieved CR/nPR or partial response, including 5 of 5 previously untreated patients and 13 of 19 previously treated patients. Preliminary results from this study indicate that 2 patients (one from each group) have also shown no evidence of MRD by flow cytometry.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Experts advising federal regulators will case votes next week that could make or break a small biotech specializing in cancer drugs, but the vote may not mean that much to the world's biggest drugmaker, Pfizer.

Genta Inc. (up $0.06 to $1.86, Charts), a biotech based in Berkeley Heights, N.J., is hoping that the cancer drug experts recommend its experimental leukemia treatment Genasense for approval by the Food and Drug Administration. The advisors' vote is a non-binding suggestion to the agency - not a final decision - but it is important because the FDA usually follows the advice of its advisory panels.

If the FDA experts recommend Genasense for approval on Sept. 6, and if the agency approves it in late October, Genta's stock could jump and the new product could bring in tens of millions of dollars in annual sales, according to Brian Rye, analyst for Janney Montgomery Scott.

While that's modest for a new drug, it could be crucial to a small biotech like Genta.

If Genasense is approved, it would be used in combination with chemotherapy as a treatment for a type of cancer that causes bone marrow failure and can spread. But the regulatory process has not gone smoothly for Genasense, so Rye is cautious about the biotech's prospects going forward.

"To be sure, an investment in Genta is not for the faint of heart, as all eyes are focused squarely on a single drug, Genasense," he wrote in a note earlier this month.

Rye wrote that Genta stock price is trading for less than $2 a share, making it "appropriate only for speculative accounts with a high tolerance for risk and price volatility."

The analyst rates the biotech a "neutral," even though he estimates that Genasense annual sales could exceed $100 million by 2008 and the stock price could jump to $3 a share.

While $100 million is a paltry sum for the largest drug companies, it would be a major windfall to Genta, which reported $446,000 in sales during the first half of 2006 from its single product, Ganite, an injectable drug to treat high calcium levels in the blood related to some forms of cancer.

Rye wrote that Genta "still needs to prove that it can successfully navigate the regulatory waters," noting that Genasense received an unfavorable vote from cancer drug advisers for a separate indication - treatment of malignant melanoma - in 2004.

"If these efforts are unsuccessful, the company's very ability to survive beyond the next year or so can be called into question," wrote Rye.

Ren Benjamin, analyst for Rodman & Renshaw, also rates Genta as a "neutral." His advice for investors is: "Don't get into the stock before the [panel] meeting."

Benjamin said a negative vote could drive the stock below 50 cents a share, noting that Genta was valued at $8 a share before its unfavorable vote in 2004.

"It's something that investors should watch, and watch from the sidelines, and learn from," he said in a phone interview. "If [the vote] is positive, investors may miss the initial bump up in valuation, but they will have the added confidence, and plenty of time, to ride the stock further."

A company spokesman was not immediately available to comment on Genta's viability based on the success of Genasense.

Now, I'm waiting,
But this could be the better investment of the year if the FDA is ok with genasense !!!
