This has the potential for a nice long shot as a HIV play.

SmallCap Sentinel: Drug Companies Race to Bring Next-Generation Drugs to HIV Drug-Resistant PatientsFriday March 17, 11:54 am ET

IRVINE, Calif., March 17, 2006 - ``One of the most exciting areas of emerging antiretrovirals is the 'entry inhibitors,' a new class of HIV/AIDS therapeutics that are intended to protect healthy cells from viral infection, which are expected to be a life-saving medical breakthrough for HIV drug-resistant patients running out of treatment options,'' said SmallCap Sentinel analyst D.R. Clark. ``With the number of worldwide HIV infections and drug resistance climbing, four drug companies; Pfizer (NYSE:PFE - News), Schering-Plough (NYSE:SGP - News), Samaritan Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (AMEX:LIV - News), and AnorMED (AMEX:AOM - News), are conducting clinical trials with experimental oral entry inhibitors that block HIV instead of the currently-approved, expensive injections on the market.''
``Last week, Samaritan Pharmaceuticals announced it had begun a second Phase II Monotherapy trial of its lead oral entry inhibitor anti-viral agent SP01A, in HIV-infected patients that have shown resistance to other treatments,'' said Clark. ``Also, Schering-Plough provided an update on its Phase II Study of Vicriviroc and stated it will continue in HIV treatment-experienced patients.''

Good luck Wrangler.

Thanks to that PR and the POP it caused I took some off the table @0.59. It was running it took my ask without a blink.

You still holding the goats (GTCB)?

I going to hang tough with my shares because I believe in them (ATryn®) !

wrangler

Hi rdemp52572
I let go of GTCB when it hit 1.34 and took big loss. I've just about gained back what I lost but will not play them drug approval play's anymore.I was just about ready to sell the night before the approval annoucement but thought for sure it was going to happen with all the hype and the CBS Evening News profile of it.
A lesson well learned.
So you're in on LIV also?
Goodluck trading,I think we're going to get some profit from this one,all the PR's sound to good but I will look for profit not approval this time.

Hey Wrangler,

I got a good one for you -- VIAC (checkout my comments under the longterm hold board)

I took some of my 80% pop here yesterday and bought some more Viacell. If you like the Stems and you believe in the Forbes theory/article:

<<...Based on their areas of research, partnerships, and initial accomplishments, we would favor having Geron and ViaCell as part of any stem cell investment basket. The more lottery tickets you have, however, the more likely chance you have to win....>

http://tinyurl.com/hyv43

Also from the article in Forbes on Viacell:

<...Of the companies involved in non-embryonic stem cell research, perhaps the most interesting is ViaCell. The company's current research is focused on using stem cells to fight cancer, cardiac disease and diabetes. Its cellular therapy candidate CB001, which is initially being developed for use in bone marrow and other hematopoietic stem cell transplants in patients affected by a variety of cancers, is currently in Phase 1 clinical trials. The company has a product out called ViaCord, which preserves umbilical cord blood for potential use in a hematopoietic stem cell transplantation for the donor and family members. ViaCord is generating revenues to help fund the company's pipeline. What also makes ViaCell compelling is the amount of interest it has drawn from large pharmaceutical and biotech companies, while most of the other stem cell firms have been largely ignored. The firm currently has strategic relationships with Amgen (nasdaq: AMGN - news - people ), GlaxoSmithKline (nyse: GSK - news - people ) and Genzyme....>

I using any weakness as entry points. Also buying STEM this morning. I believe the STEM sector has been basing for awhile now and should benefit greatly in near future.

Good luck to you but strongly suggest checking out VIAC - I've followed and liked them before they went public because of Viacord. I'm still holding some LIV but had to reallocate my lottery tickets .

This is one to buy (VIAC) and just tuck away!!!

wrangler

Hi rdemp52572
I'm not watching any one sector I try to find stocks that could go up according to the charts.
The only thing I see that would hold me back from buying VIAC is low volume. I've learned from play's that has low average day volume is that if a trade goes bad it makes really hard to sell sometimes and may execute way lower then what you wanted to sell for.I don't look at just the day's trading volume but also the average trading volume for a stock and if you buy stocks on that you can sometimes tell if a stock falls if it's in a correction and hold for it to go back.
Thanks for the pick and keep them coming,
Goodluck trading to all :)

Check out MIVT.OB

They caught my eye last week and now I just saw this:

MIVT's Bio-Compatible Medical Coating Technologies Featured in Fortune 500 Nanotechnology Special Report
Monday April 10, 3:30 am ET
Business Magazine Spotlights Plan to Commercialize Proprietary Device Coatings for $160 Billion Drug Delivery Marketplace

VANCOUVER, British Columbia--April 10, 2006--MIV Therapeutics (OTCBB:MIVT - News; FWB:MIV), a leading developer of next-generation biocompatible coatings and advanced drug delivery systems for cardiovascular stents and other implantable medical devices, has been featured in the current issue of FORTUNE 500 Magazine, in a special section that highlights the substantial promise of its nanotechnology-based implant coating applications.

In the FORTUNE 500 article, MIVT biomedical technologies and potential medical applications are described in detail. These include the Company's ultra-thin biocompatible and polymer-free coating for vascular stents. As the article explains, traditional polymer coatings on stents that release anti-inflammatory drugs have been prone to adverse reactions as the body's immune systems respond defensively to their presence.

MIVT senior officers including CEO Alan Lindsay are also quoted in the article, regarding the medical need and commercial opportunities of the Company's unique and proprietary implant coating technologies. The firm is committed to the development of a variety of applications for implanted drug delivery devices and other applications for therapeutic purposes. The Company's unique patented drug-delivery nanotechnologies will target the estimated $160 billion marketplace for localized drug delivery systems

Goodluck trading :)
