HUGE INSM DIABETES NEWS JUST A FEW DAYS AHEAD....

INSM MOVING UP!!

On June 25, INSM will present "COMPELLING DATA," according to a company official, for phase 2 clinical results using iPlex to decrease Severe Insulin Resistance.

This will be a podium presentation at this year's ENDO international Show/Conference. The same company official claimed at a recent investor's conference that "INSM expects to be a PLAYER" in this multi-billion dollar market.

I expect 50c/share++ gain and more than 10M shares traded after the PR for the above event is released

terabemo

Looks like we are going to have some buyers during the last trading hour.

alright, you're crazy!

INSM should start moving up ahead of next week's ENDO conference.

INSM will present "compelling results" of Phase 2 clinical trials to treat Severe Insulin Resistance is hard-to-treat diabetes patients on June 27.

Once INSM crosses $1.5 it should run like a wild bronco.

Looking for a nice close.

Today might be the last day to buy in the low $1.40's.

Newly added INSM presentation at ENDO 2006....this new iPlex application is in addition to Severe Insulin Resistance Phase 2 results to be reported June 27, 2006.  Next week could be HUGE for INSM.

[P2-678] Divergent Effects of the IGF-I/IGFBP-3 Complex over GH and Ghrelin Nocturnal Concentrations in Small for Gestational Age Children.

German F Iniguez, Teresa E Salazar, Rossana Roman, Alejandra Avila, Ronald D Gunn, Fernando Cassorla, Inst of Matern and Child Res, Sch of Med, Univ of Chile, Santiago, Chile; INSMED, Glen Allen, VA

The complex interplay between GH, IGF-I and Ghrelin has not been clearly established in humans. In particular, it is not known whether IGF-I regulates circulating ghrelin concentrations, either directly, or through its effect on GH. In order to determine the effects of IGF-I over GH and ghrelin concentrations, we examined the GH and ghrelin nocturnal profiles before and after the administration of the IGF-I/-IGFBP-3 complex (IPLEX) in small for gestational age children.

Twenty small for gestational age, prepubertal children (11 boys and 9 girls), born after a full-term pregnancy were studied at a mean age of 7.3+0.5 years (range 4 to 11 years). Their mean height was -1.8+0.3 SDS and their mean BMI was 0.1+0.2 SDS at the time of the study. The children were studied twice, the first time under basal conditions, and the second time, 2 to 4 weeks later, after the sc administration of 1 mg/kg of IPLEX at 9PM. Blood samples for determination of GH and Ghrelin were obtained every 20 min between 11PM and 7AM, while the children were sleeping . Full length octanoylated human ghrelin was measured with a commercial RIA kit from Linco, and GH was measured with a double antibody RIA.

In each patient, we determined serum IGF-I and IGFBP-3, and calculated the mean GH and Ghrelin area under the curve (GH AUC and GHR AUC), both under basal conditions and after the administration of IPLEX. Results are shown in the Table as mean SEM.

As shown in the Table 1, serum IGF-I and to a lesser extent serum IGFBP-3, increased significantly after IPLEX administration.

In addition, mean nocturnal GH AUC exhibited a significant decrease after IPLEX, whereas mean GHR AUC showed a significant increase after administration of the IGF-I/IGFBP-3 complex.

We did not observe any differences in the response to IPLEX according to gender.

These findings indicate that the IGF-I/IGFBP-3 complex appears to have opposite effects over circulating GH and Ghrelin concentrations in small for gestational age children, suggesting that in addition to its known negative feed-back effect over GH, IGF-I may have a positive feed back effect over Ghrelin.

Published research in May indicate the importance of Ghrelin:

Ghrelin: A player in diabetes but not obesity?
10.05.2006

Ghrelin, a hormone long considered a key player in obesity, may instead take a major role in maintaining the balance between insulin and glucose and the development of diabetes, said Baylor College of Medicine researchers in a report in the current issue of the journal Cell Metabolism.

"Everybody has been pushing the connection between obesity and ghrelin," said Dr. Roy G. Smith, director of the BCM Huffington Center on Aging, "Companies have been developing ghrelin antagonists as anti-obesity drugs. Now these drugs may have a value in treating diabetes."

The reversal that is starting to take shape (see chart) is primarily  because of the anticipation about the two INSM presentations (1 and 2 below) at this week's The Endocrine Society's 88th Annual Meeting (ENDO 2006) to be held in Boston from June 24 - June 27.

1) On June 27, INSM will present "COMPELLING DATA," according to a company official, for phase 2 clinical results using iPlex to decrease Severe Insulin Resistance.

This will be a podium presentation at this year's ENDO international Show/Conference.

The same company official claimed at a recent investor's conference that  "INSM expects to be a PLAYER" in this multi-billion dollar market.

I expect  a significant pps gain on huge trading volume after the PR for the above event is released

2) A new INSM presentation has just been added to this year's ENDO conference schedule. The study deals with the effects of the IGF-I/IGFBP-3 Complex (iPlex) over Growth H and Ghrelin Nocturnal Concentrations in Small for Gestational Age Children. Ghrelin, a hormone long considered a key player in obesity, may instead take a major role in maintaining the balance between insulin and glucose and the development of diabetes, said Baylor College of Medicine researchers in a report in the current issue of the journal Cell Metabolism.

3) On June 13, a federal court dismissed a complaint filed by rival Tercica Inc. (Nasdaq: TRCA) claiming that INSM made false and misleading promotional statements related to its Iplex treatment for severe short stature in children.

4) FDA-Approved IPlex Commercial Launch ----- DONE...4 weeks ahead of schedule. iPlex is a proprietary INSM drug product for the delivery of recombinant insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1). It is administered as a preformed complex with a recombinant form of its natural binding protein, insulin-like growth factor binding protein 3 (rhIGFBP-3) or BP3. BP3 helps regulate the distribution of IGF-1 and prevents IGF-1 excess. Uncontrolled IGF-1 has been linked to conditions as serious as accelerated cancer tumor cell growth.

5) INSM has $60M in cash. These funds are sufficient to fund operations until mid-2007 excluding any iPlex revenues

6) Earnings for 2Q will exceed analysts' expectation by a wide margin because of 1 above.

7) Surveys by analysts indicate that IPlex is preferred by pediatric doctors for safety reasons and once/daily dosage.

8) INSM will formally apply with the EMEA in a few weeks for iPLex approval in Europe. INSM has not ruled out a partnership with a large pharma Co. to market iPlex in Europe..

9)ASCO published this week a milestone paper describing the relationship between PB3 and cancer prevention/cure. Essentially PB3 neutralizes excess IGF-1 (Increlex) which if allowed to exist unbuffered could fuel uncontrolled cell growth including tumors/cancer.

10) CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT of INSM'S HUGE DRUG PIPELINE. On May 15, 2006, a company representative addressing institutional investors clearly said that there will be many clinical trial results published within the next 6 months.

* NOONAN's syndrome trials. This is to expand iPlex patient base from 6,000 to over 30,000.

* Miotonic Muscular Disthrophy (MMD) clinical trials using iPlex are well under way.

Myotonic dystrophy affects an estimated 40,000 individuals in the United States.

* BP3 cancer trials....Ongoing (see ASCO news above)

The company's product candidate (BP3), rhIGFBP-3, recombinant human Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3, is a naturally occurring anti-tumor agent. rhIGFBP-3 has demonstrated preclinical efficacy in numerous cancer indications, including breast, prostate, liver, ovarian, and colon cancers.

* INSM-18 AT THE FOREFRONT OF NEW CANCER DRUGS....EVEN AHEAD OF PFYZER IN THIS AREA

On March 7, 2006, the Business Intelligence firm La Merie S.L. reported that antibodies are at the forefront of novel cancer therapeutics targeting the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R).

The report states that INSM along with giant Pfizer are among the leaders in this promising oncology research area. INSM-18 is a dual inhibitor of IGF-1R and Her2/neu and is the only clinical stage IGF-1R small molecule antagonist (phase I/II in prostate cancer).

INSM is dusting off its rally clothes....looks ready to start moving up.

The ENDO news in the next few days could make it jump past $2. Even then, it would still be one of the most undervalued biotec stocks in the market.
