Hey, Scotsman!

Yeah, it's been a long, long time.   ;D  >:D

Good luck, buddy!  Hope you make lots of $$$ on it.

Elf,  Interestingly we meet again - beware the false breakout of DNDN - always happens on news.  If history holds true, the stock price will meander downwards and will be lower come end of July.  Watching with interest!

bigdogs,

Thanks for the warning.  Fortunately, I had a real nice entry into DNDN coming off the Wolfe Wave #5 DOUBLE fakeout in May, so unless it crashes, I should do okay on this one.

Technically, DNDN is ahead of itself, with the 50 and 200DMA's so badly inverted.  It hit its 200DMA at 5.07 today.  Chart looks good so far, though.  Volume on today's breakout is 5X average 100 day.

I've been posting in the DNDN folder on the Previous Picks Board, so see my posts there for further analysis, if you're interested.

DNDN

A genuine good play for the long term.  $BTK index just recently broke out to new uptrends.  DNDN should climb up right along with the bios leader DNA

good trading to all...

updated analyst info:
Dendreon upgraded to "strong buy"

Thursday, July 06, 2006 2:46:16 AM ET
JMP Securities

NEW YORK, July 6 (newratings.com) - Analyst Charles C Duncan of JMP Securities upgrades Dendreon Corporation (DNR.FSE) from "market outperform" to "strong buy." The target price is set to $12.

In a research note published yesterday, the analyst mentions that the company's share price has declined 12% year to date. Dendreon is likely to file a new drug application (NDA) with the FDA for the Provenge marketing approval in the forthcoming three-to-six months, earlier than was expected, the analyst says. Moreover, supportive clinical data related to the study of early stage prostate cancer patients is also expected over the forthcoming three-to-six months, JMP Securities adds.

The 50/200 DMAs were badly inverted when DNDN ran to 5.00 in early July.  They were almost 1.00 apart.

DNDN corrected, held at support, then printed the 4.48 Falling Wedge breakout this morning.  It's been rallying beyond that this afternoon, but I'd like to see better volume.

DNDN currently is BID 4.67...ASK 4.68.

Oliver,

Yesterday was a re-test of the Falling Wedge breakout.  The top of the pattern came in at 4.458; the low was 4.46.

The top of the pattern comes in today, August 22, at 4.436.  The 50DMA yesterday was 4.412.  Those are near-term support.  If they don't hold, it looks like we've got a false breakout.

Who knows with DNDN ???

We've seen so many fake-outs and failed rallies on this one, its hard to maintain any real break that this is "the one".  As I see it, while we have had a break out of Melf's descending wedge, there is still a broken ascending trendline to get through, which comes in at 4.60, and a resistance band at 4.70-4.90.  If it broke through 4.70, I would be more inclined to trust the validity of this one.

I think the only convincing evidence of a true breakout and trend reversal on DNDN would be a convincing move over $5.

Just my thoughts

Scotsman,

Boy, that's the truth!  My feeling after the double downside fakeout below 4.00 was that if this chart is showing anything positive at all, I'd like to be long based on the prospects, but it sure has been tough to play.

big movers today....+18% pm --- positive results in cancer studies :

http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=ctic

Drug developer Cell Therapeutics (CTIC - commentary - Cramer's Take) saw its shares jump more than 14% after the company announced positive results from a trial of its drug Xyotax in patients with cancer of the esophagus or stomach.
The early clinical trial involved 21 patients who were treated to determine the safety and maximum tolerated dose of the drug in combination with radiation. Of 12 patients evaluated, four saw their tumors disappear and seven saw their tumors shrink by more than 50%.

Shares were up 14.6% to $1.49 in premarket trading Wednesday.

"Xyotax is an important new radiation sensitizer in esophageal cancer," said Dr. Howard Safran of Brown University and head researcher of the study. "Preclinically, Xyotax is a much more potent radiation sensitizer than paclitaxel," a standard cancer care.

news out:

Dendreon files partial FDA cancer vaccine petition
Thu Aug 24, 2006 5:00 AM ET

LOS ANGELES, Aug 24 (Reuters) - Dendreon Corp. <DNDN.O> said on Thursday that it has filed the safety and efficacy portions of a U.S. Food and Drug Administration application for an experimental prostate cancer drug and expects to submit the chemistry and manufacturing segment by the end of the year.

"We will apply for a priority review, which means a 6-month clock for the FDA. We could get approval in mid-2007," said Chief Executive Mitchell Gold.

Seattle-based Dendreon is seeking clearance to market Provenge, which is designed to work by stimulating a patient's immune system against cancer cells, as a treatment for men with late-stage prostate cancer.
If approved, the drug would be the first therapeutic cancer vaccine.

In one Phase III trial of 127 men with advanced prostate cancer, those taking the drug showed a median survival benefit of 4.5 months compared to the group receiving a placebo.
The drug's side effects, mainly fever and chills, were shown to be minimal, Gold said.
The company is conducting a third pivotal-stage trial of Provenge in men with advanced prostate cancer as well as a pivotal-stage trial in men with early-stage cancer.
Gold said Dendreon plans to market the drug in the United States and to partner the drug for sales in other markets.

Dendreon Submits Clinical and Non-Clinical Sections of Rolling BLA to FDA for PROVENGE to Treat Advanced Prostate Cancer Patients
Thursday August 24, 5:30 am ET

SEATTLE, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dendreon Corporation (Nasdaq: DNDN - News) today announced that the Company has submitted the clinical and non-clinical sections of the rolling submission of a Biologics License Application (BLA) to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for PROVENGE® (sipuleucel-T) for the treatment of asymptomatic patients with metastatic, androgen-independent (also known as hormone-refractory) prostate cancer. The Company plans to submit the chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) section later this year, which will complete the submission of the BLA to the FDA for approval to market PROVENGE.

The clinical section of the BLA contains the evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of PROVENGE for the treatment of men with advanced prostate cancer. In particular, this section of the BLA contains the clinical trial data supporting the conclusion that PROVENGE confers an advantage in overall survival, without significant toxicity, to men with asymptomatic, metastatic, androgen-independent prostate cancer.

"Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men and remains a serious unmet medical need with few effective treatment options," said Mitchell H. Gold, M.D., president and chief executive officer of Dendreon. "Based upon the results of our clinical trials, we believe that PROVENGE has a highly favorable benefit-to-risk profile, and we are focused on working closely with the FDA so that PROVENGE can be made available to help prostate cancer patients."

The FDA has granted Fast Track review status to PROVENGE enabling Dendreon to submit its BLA on a rolling basis so the FDA can review sections before receiving the complete submission. If approved, PROVENGE would become the first commercially available active immunotherapy, sometimes referred to as therapeutic cancer vaccine, to treat advanced hormone-refractory prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer is the most common non-skin cancer in the United States and the third most common cancer worldwide. More than one million men in the United States have prostate cancer, with an estimated 232,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed each year. More than 30,000 men die each year of the disease.

should be good for DNDN today 8)

Oliver,

I hope so because yesterday was a bust, as far as the Falling Wedge breakout is concerned.

>:(

Both the 34/55 RSIs and the 55/89 RSIs have come into synchronicity here, so a bounce today would be good, if we get it.  I'll show you the 34/55 RSIs next post.

Thanks for the news item.  Applause.

Melf Elf

The 34/55 RSIs are at Synchronicity.  The 55/89RSI chart, next sequentially, looks similar to this one/  They're also at Synchronicity.
