I have one 17" LCD and 15" notebook and it was sufficient for me until 3stocksonfire came.
Now I am thinking what's better solution.

Can anybody share his/her trading desk setup?

Hi Lojze,

I have 3 screens, using two 19" LCD (dual display) on my desktop PC, and I have a 15" laptop on the right side of the desk, running a P4, 3.4Ghz with 1Gb Ram. When I go to the garden, to the living room, (or even the bathroom ;D), I bring my wireless laptop with me ;)
I wish I had 2 more 19" LCD ;)... and I will ;)

I think acquiring extra LCD monitors, and a dual or 4X display video card, is always a good investment for a professional trader... More screens, means more Focus on all your investments without minimizing any window.... and Focus means MONEY on the markets.

I use 5 monitors (2 from a dual AGP card) the other 3 from 2 dual PCI cards.

Main monitor 1 Interactive Brokers trader station and use it also for main browsers. (Firefox and Maxthon) and instant messaging.

I run 2 separate copies of Qcharts and each has their own screen - one for stocks and use it to set all alerts and the other I use for the futures I trade - Dow, Russell 2000 and 30 year bond mostly.

Another monitor is used for quotetracker as I prefer their level II windows and time & sales. Quotetracker is one of the most popular quote programs as you can use tons of different data providers to feed it.

The last monitor is used for my second IB account work station and for an open browser with Briefing com. I have and additional monitor size TV also for morning market news.

(I am always downloading films or TV shows so that just runs underneath some window.

Would like some more monitors just to keep some more charts open at greater size but no room as I use only CRTs as I hate the tiny dots that you see in all text on LCD screens - if they can come out with an LCD without the dots I will switch in a heartbeat and add more monitors.

Great setup metro !  >:D

I think the same... extra LCD monitors is one of the best investments a trader can make.

To go portable, I love my Treo 650 PDA/cellphone working under Palm OS. I use Stock Manager by tinystocks.com to keep my portfolio updated, with 15 min delay. I can travel Coast to Coast & still get most of the critical info I need. It feeds from Yahoo Financials.  ;D

Can you attach extra monitors to a Dell Inspirion 6000 laptop?  I don't have a PC.  I do all my trading (toggling between Q charts and my 3 brokers, etc.  I used to have an extra monitor on my old PC back in my former daytrading days, and it was cool.  Does anyone know if you can hook multiple monitors to a laptop?  I appreciate your input, and hope you have a Happy 4th of July!!

it depends on the video card but on most laptops you can view dual-screen(thats why I have one)

So check your video card(google its name) and see if it has the capability.

Or:

To try it(if you have an extra monitor):

1. Shut down the laptop
2. Hook up a monitor to the laptop.
3. turn on the laptop
4. right click on your wallpaper screen and click on properties
5  go to the setting tab
6. see if there is a 2nd box available in the gray array(click on it)
7. check <extend my windows desktop onto this monitor>

should do it.

LCDs are nice if you don't have space for something bigger with a bit more resolution... I've got dual trinitrons off of a Dimension (one at 21 inches, the other 19) both at 1280x1024 for my charting (power etrade). I then have an x series Thinkpad where I post most of my trades from.

It's a decent setup but I could definately go for a dell triple or quad LCD:

Hi mix_master_mike !

I've just take a look at your links... impressive, I have 2 Dell 19", and I really love all DELL hardware products... but this C4Q19 19-inch Quad LCD Display setup is awesome... all a trader could want !!!
I guess that's going to be my Christmas present this year ;) just thinking what could be the price of a toy like this here in Europe...
