Good morning !

There has been an increase of smites during the last weeks, with a lot of people abusing from the «smite» button, and killing rating points to other fellow members. Some of this smites were understandable, but many were clearly an excess.

We got several complains from regular members, and we already start taking some actions in some of the «smitters». Although part of our job is to monitor the boards, our team must be more focused on other subjects (like finding good stocks for example )

From now on, our toleration on this kind of incidents will be decreased to zero.

The smite button is a functionality we have, taking in consideration a responsible and educational community. 99% of our community uses the «smite» button on a real good and responsible way... we accept the risk of losing 1% of our members (banning them) in behalf of the rest. That's our stand right now, and we expect your comprehension.

BTW.... There is also an «applaud» button

Also, recently there has been several new members to the community that have been bashing the site with comments that distract the main puprose of 3sof.  Perhaps are the same ones that use the features (Smite-Applause)in the wrong manner.

Dont know who o why Setravis was smitted but the positive fact is that after thousands
of messages and an increasing number of subscribers, nobody claimed about this, even though
we had a few that deserved it and were wipped out using this feature in two or three
specific cases.

Sometimes just have to admit the possibility that some people may not agree with our
opinions or that the way we express them may affect others.

We should be very greatful that we have the liberty to applaud or smite according to our best judgement, exposing ourselves in a most democratic way  to a daily  public poll in 3SOF.

I'm embarrassed to admit that I accidentally gave you the smite. 

I wanted to applaud you for your efforts to remove board clutter with the multiple folders (AAPL yesterday), but my hand and wrist were hurting after a long-g day, and I clicked the smite button right next next to the applaud.  When I tried to correct it, the message said that I had to wait an hour, but I needed to sign off.

I'm in the process of correcting the mistake with TWO applauds.  I have to wait an hour for the second one, but I won't forget to do it.

My apologies for the mistake.

EDIT: Okay, the second applause just went through.  You're at 700!!

Very glad to know it was just a mistake and was repaired accordingly.
This confirms the great responsibility and honesty of all the members
that makes the  system  work the right way.

Its funny to see that after 18 months or so, the only recorded smite on Setravis was done by accident

I just now saw your post.   

Wait until you hear this:  I not only gave setravis an accidental smite, I also gave Aussie an accidental smite the same night!  My right hand was hurting so bad after working too long, I thought I had my mouse positioned on the Applaud button, but I clicked on Smite.  TWICE!!

Man, was I embarrassed.   

I made up for it the next day, though.  I gave each of them two Applauds, to remove the Smite.

I put the Applaud back.  I hope that we aren't going to have smiting nonsense again. 

Folks, we're all members of a nice community here at 3SOF, and we don't smite anybody unless someone is VERY rude, or is obviously touting, "pumping and dumping," etc.

Please lay off the smite button, unless it's truly warranted.  Thanks.

It seems there's a funny guy who likes to smite me, happened the 2nd time now, it was at 62 this morning ... 
Maybe Ramsburg can take a look who likes to amuse himself!

Here's a newbie question for you. How do I applaud smite someone? Just wanna make sure I do it right. :+)
