3SOF has been a great inspiration for me and other traders. As much that and more but I do very strongly feel that David should be back. If possible he can run his own picks separate from G, Fredrick and Mic. I am sure that the current 3SoF team can make some arrangement. And if there is some confusion I will suggest that the 3SoF team could run a poll in this regard. After all 3SoF has a healthy record of listening to the community.

As far as CHDT, GV and CHID are concerned they do hold some lessons for not just 3SoF but for us all. So the best thing at the moment will be to learn your lessons and be better/smarter trader. Nothing ever comes out of pinny pointing.

Goodluck all.

Update:
Corrective day for BCON today, but as we stated yesterday:
Quote from: Ramsburg on August 03, 2006, 12:02:22 AM
its possible to watch a small consolidation here, but the 1.40/1.45 should make a good support if that happens.
BCON is consolidating the recent gains; we expect the 1.40/1.45 level to hold, the plan will be the same for now:

Trading Plan:
Hold BCON with a stop @ $1.26

Update:
BCON had another red candle, closing at $1.40 which could be considered as the short term support level (and our entry price).
Looking to the overall pattern of the current expanding move, this kind of consolidation move has been normal, BCON is trading above its ema-50 (and the ema-50 itself is now with a positive direction).
We need to give this trade some room, so we'll keep our stop at the same level, since the main issue here is not to make lower lows.

Trading Plan:
Hold BCON with a stop @ $1.26

Regards,
Frederick Ramsburg

Update:
BCON was down a little with low volume, but it's still trading inside our pattern and above the breakout zone and the ema-50.
We expect BCON to react to the upside at any moment until it stays above $1.27 (the last lower low).

Trading Plan:
Hold BCON with a stop @ $1.26

Frederick Ramsburg

Update:

We'll see how it opens, and how it goes today.  At the moment, I'm thinking that I'll sell if we take out 1.49, yesterday's low.  That would indicate some confirmation of the Bearish Doji Star Hangman at the top of the Bearish Flag, and that the chance is good that we're going lower, at least short-term.

Sold remaining 90% of my BCON at 1.48.  Gain: 8.8%.  Gain on the trade: 9.2%.  Thank you, Fredercik!  Applause.

frederick,

these are tough, tough patterns to play on the long side in a bear trend.  bcon confirmed bearish hangman in the bear flag in a bear trend.  and, back below channel breakout.  ugh.

i hope 1.27 support holds.  but, suggestion for trading drafts.  let's try stocks that aren't in such strong bearish trneds, and that either are near support, not resitance, and that have built a good base.

good luck on bcon.  sorry for bad ty[ing.

Any chance BCON reaches back into the 1.80 area soon?

Still holding this one at my portfolio....let's see if it really goes high or instead, it makes a H&S....

Beacon Wins U.S. Energy System Contract
Tuesday September 5, 11:49 am ET
Beacon Power to Design Power Plant Using Flywheel-Based System Under Department of Energy Contract

WILMINGTON, Mass. (AP) -- Beacon Power Corp., a developer of energy storage systems, said Tuesday the U.S. Department of Energy awarded it a $752,500 contract to design a power plant using its flywheel-based system.

The contract, which will be administered by Sandia National Laboratories, calls for designing a 20-megawatt Smart Energy Matrix frequency regulation power plant. Sandia Laboratories is operated by Sandia Corp., part of Lockheed Martin Co., for the energy department's National Nuclear Security Administration.

Beacon's flywheel energy storage system harnesses electricity from an existing power source, stores it, and then delivers it as needed if there is a power failure or disruption. The plant is a prototype for a nonpolluting, megawatt-level and utility grade energy producer, the company said.

The contract, which amounts to half of the company's 2005 revenue, will be stretched out over 12 months and pay for part of the system's expected development costs. Beacon will complete a comparison study and a cost-benefits analyses of the new technology with conventional technology. Part of the contract involves ranking potential plant locations.

Beacon said the contract directly supports its goal to develop facilities based on this technology in the United States by the beginning of 2007.

In February, the company installed a flywheel-based system in Amsterdam, N.Y., with joint funding by New York's energy research and development authority and the Department of Energy. Before that, it had installed a similar system in California.

Shares of Beacon rose 12 cents, or 9.4 percent, to $1.39 on the Nasdaq in morning trading. The stock has been trading between 95 cents and $4.10 over the last 52 weeks.

1. Introduction

I made some good trades on BCON in the past and everybody keeps it on their watch list, so I  should study it, both from a technical & fundamental view.

2. Profile

Beacon Power Corporation (BCON), a development stage company, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, development, configuration, and sale of products and services to support electricity grid operation. (complete profile here)

3. Technical Analysis
3.1. All History Chart

BCON's time was the mid 2005 rally. Besides that the all history chart is quite discouraging.

3.2. Medium Term Chart

The stock is down 80% from its August 2005 levels. It's kind of dead now.

3.3. Short Term Chart

BCON would need to make a move above the $1.35 resistance level to be interesting from a technical perspective. The short term trend is bearish.

4. Fundamental Analysis
4.1. Number of Shares Outstanding

The share count rose 25% in the 9 months until September, or 12 million shares. This isn't good. The current market cap is 59,367,374*$1.1 = $65.3 M.

4.2. Liquidity

Working capital is just $6 M now, BCON's balance sheet is weak.

4.3. Revenues

There's a little sign of life lately, but revenues expected for 2006 are still just $1.2 M. Since the market cap is $65.3 M, the revenue multiple is 54 which is extremely high.

4.4. Profits

Losing money every year since inception. It has a cumulative deficit of $147.5 M.

5. General Overview

Unfortunately BCON looks very overvalued even at these low prices. Insiders have been selling shares every chance they get and the company's working capital is running out. BCON has been diluting shareholders value by issuing and selling shares.

Losses are mounting and revenues are incipient.

I guess this will be a penny stock soon. I will avoid BCON.
