Hey David:  Can you comment on ORCH?  -  Looks as if it crossed the 200 dma about a  week ago... trendingup from here? ;)

3 minute look on PNTR:

I know the story, very small cap of about $32 M. I don't consider it on fire today because it opened with a gap up and is fighting with the 50 days SMA (working as a resistance level now).

I guess it can bounce, but not on fire today, good luck :)

David, I am wondering why you decided to sell EXCS.ob on basis of not knowing what November sales were, especially when fundamentals are not supposed to be the sole basis for these trades. ???  I would think with such short term momentum you would look to sell on technical weakness, not specualtion of what sales were in November.  Of course you have to do what you feel is best for the portfolio.  I'll continue to hold and try to add more around .06, Good luck to everyone. ;)

Hi pompano, I look for technical plays but also fundamental imbalances. I guess EXCS released that 157% month on month growth number to impress (but with no absolute value), but I don't like to be impressed by words, just real numbers. As most penny stocks, EXCS can go back down to where it came from, after some dilution along the way.

I'll probably never buy it again, the party looks over. But very good luck, and thanks pompano, awesome suggestion yesterday :o

QuoteShort SIFY -- double top

Yes Terliso, probably it would be easier to find momentum stocks on the short side today. But it is a whole lot harder to make money shorting than buying (even in a bear market (and I believe we're in a bull market), very difficult to hold those shorts).

I'll stay on the bull camp, as I'll keep looking for small cap momentum stocks. But thanks :)

3 minute look on CVDT.OB:

The chart looks nice, but this is one of the most overvalued stocks I've ever seen, with about $220 M market cap and no relevant revenues. This is a former mining company wanna be, now into VOIP, I don't like that.

I would buy EGHT instead, much lower market cap and also a VOIP play, and real revenues to show. I see just hype on CVDT.OB, and dilution will follow, I guess.

Hey David, hot volume on LDHI.OB. 8)

David Randolph

I see a positive fundamental turnaround in ORCH in 2006, so the current bullish trend may continue. But not on fire today, just 69,000 shares traded so far in the session.

But I'll keep this one for further due diligence, since the sector seems promising.

ok ok David, of course you are right (I should be studying).  Only one more suggestion for you to have a look at as a possible short term mover: AAGH

Technically looks very nice, breaking out of an inverse H&S.  Fundamentally its a mystery though, couldn't find anything much on yahoo.  They are involved in chinese TV and entertainment.

I don't see the fundamental value and technically the volume is not enough for me to consider it. But thanks for the tip and good luck :)

DORB.OB 3 minute look:

CTIC has made an acquisition proposal at about $50 M for DORB, the current market cap is about $38 M (I didn't have time to check if there are any convertible debentures or convertible notes), so the acquisition price is something like $0.55.

This could be nice for arbitrage players, but not for me, I see this stock being put to sleep around $0.45 - $0.50 for a long time as this acquisition process evolves.

3 minute look on HGR:

Finally, we have a winner ! (at least, I hope so)

HGR was added to the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio at $8.76. Not a sexy play, but moving higher today on volume above average and fundamentals look attractive.

Let's see if we can find more stocks on fire today >:D
