Hi Tokyo :)

Volume yesterday was pretty high, and the white marubozu was large enough to take the stock to a close above not only the 50 days SMA but also the 200 days SMA. Today's action looks just like a small correction, the short term trend is bullish. Moreover there's a gap to be filled at $18.85.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $520 M, so it exceeds our maximum threshold as you know (nevermind, it's a slight miss). The Company develops, manufactures and sells proprietary biological testing technologies with applications throughout the life sciences industry.
- Balance sheet is strong enough
- Revenue trend is positive, but just $53 M in revenues in 2006, which puts the revenue multiple at 10
- EPS of $0.05 in full year 2006 means the trailing earnings multiple is 313 :o

Let me check the news that made it rise 29% yesterday:

• Luminex Corporation Reports Fourth Quarter and Year-End 2006 Results
PR Newswire (Wed, Feb 7)

There's no guidance on the press release. I consider the stock to be overvalued on a fundamental basis. It can rise some more due to short term momentum or it can go back down, I don't know.

gigabeam (GGBM) wondering if it hit the bottom

The chart says "don't buy this stock, the trend is bearish". There has been a 44% rebound over the last 3 days from bottom to top, keep that in mind.

Fundamentally:

- Market cap is $17.6 M. The Company's primary business is to design, develop, sell, lease, install and service point-to-point communications links capable of transmission speeds at or in excess of a gigabit-per-second under the trade name 'WiFiber'.
- Balance sheet is nice, with $11.46 M in working capital. That's very good for a $17.6 M market cap company.
- Revenues are growing a bit, but losses too. The company lost $4.1 M in Q3 alone. If it continues this way it will burn that working capital quite quickly.

There are some positive developments and new contracts this quarter, so perhaps GGBM will be able to grow revenues and reverse those losses. But that's hard to know. If the company keeps losing money this way every quarter it will need to dilute shareholder's value a lot just to keep going.

It's a very risky bet. I would pass this one for now, but I'll keep an eye on it, the potential is big and the market cap is little.

Good luck :)
