Trinsic, Inc. together with its subsidiaries provide integrated telecommunications services to residential and business subscribers in the United States. It operates in two segments, Retail Services and Wholesale Services. The Retail Services segment offers circuit-switched residential services that include voicemail, Find Me Notify Me, caller identification, call forwarding, three-way calling, call waiting, speed dialing, and personal voice assistant for residences and businesses; circuit-switched business services, such as local telephone service bundled with long distance telephone service, calling card services, and enhanced features for small and medium sized businesses, and businesses having multiple units; long distance services; voice over Internet protocol services (VoIP); and billing and collection services. The Wholesale Services segment offers local exchange telephone services, long distance telephone services, proprietary features, ordering, provisioning, inbound sales, fulfillment, billing, collections, and customer care to communications companies. As of December 31, 2004, the company served approximately 189,000 retail residential lines, 47,000 retail business lines, 40,000 retail stand-alone long distance lines, and 1,600 VoIP lines. Trinsic markets and sells its services primarily through direct mail; telemarketers; inhouse sales personnel; and joint marketing efforts with entities that have access to numbers of consumers, independent sales contractors, including multilevel marketing companies and referral programs. The company was founded in 1998 as Olympus Telecommunications Group, Inc. and changed its name to Z-Tel Technologies, Inc. in March 1998. Further, the name was changed to Trinsic, Inc. in January 2005. Trinsic is headquartered in Tampa, Florida.
