If you are bullish on copper/molybdenum mining stocks....please take a good hard look at Northern Orion Resourses. Ticker is NTO.

NTO: Already profitable with just 12.5% owership in Alumbrera Mine's production. They are also working on a site (Agua Rica) near the Alumbrera mine (some 34km away) of which they own 100% stake. The information below was attained from the official Northern Orion's website:

Quick Facts
100% Northern Orion owned
Located in northwest Argentina
Only 34 km (20 miles) from Alumbrera
Drill defined metal inventory of 21.8 billion pounds of copper, 13.3 million ounces of gold and 1.7 billion pounds of molybdenum
Estimated mine life of 23 years
Agua Rica's estimated rock value makes it one of the world's most significant undeveloped copper/gold/moly deposits known today
No back-in rights to any third party
More than $55 million spent by Northern Orion and BHP Billiton between 1994 and 2002 to define the deposit's resource and complete redevelopment
More than 176 holes drilled in excess of 65,000 metres
Completed positive feasibility study update in October 2006

When this mine site becomes fully operational in a few years......the potential for stock price appreciation here is HUGE! They are also a great aquisition target!

Frank Homes of U.S. Global Investors was promoting the stock on CNBC recently. I know they own a good amount of shares in their U.S. Global Investors Worlds Precious Mineral Fund: UNWPX.

I have owned some NTO for a while now. As you say, the potential is enormous, but I am always a bit skeptical of the future value of minerals in the ground. Never the less, I am considering adding to the position., but want to go back and review my original reason for buying.
