Siga in the midst of a major breakout. I've been in this for 6 months already. Looks like it's paying off big-time!!

SIGA looked real good today - we've had 3 straight days of positive gains, and today we got a gap up above previous short term resistance.  That level (at $5.30) was tested early on, but SIGA rallied right at the close to finish at the HOD.  And it is up AH too.  Very nice.  Good to see some sustained strength in SIGA, and Looking for it to test te $6.00 level shortly.

Anyone still watching this one? Major breakdown recently. Trading at less than 50% of high made in April on no real negative news. Could be a good entry point.

Falling Wedge (Reversal) Pattern :

The falling wedge is a bullish pattern that begins wide at the top and contracts as prices move lower. This price action forms a cone that slopes down as the reaction highs and reaction lows converge. In contrast to symmetrical triangles, which have no definitive slope and no bias, falling wedges definitely slope down and have a bullish bias. However, this bullish bias cannot be realized until a resistance breakout.

The falling wedge can also fit into the continuation category. As a continuation pattern, the falling wedge will still slope down, but the slope will be against the prevailing uptrend. As a reversal pattern, the falling wedge slopes down and with the prevailing trend. Regardless of the type (reversal or continuation), falling wedges are regarded as bullish patterns.

As with rising wedges, the falling wedge can be one of the most difficult chart patterns to accurately recognize and trade. When lower highs and lower lows form, as in a falling wedge, a security remains in a downtrend. The falling wedge is designed to spot a decrease in downside momentum and alert technicians to a potential trend reversal. Even though selling pressure may be diminishing, demand does not win out until resistance is broken. As with most patterns, it is important to wait for a breakout and combine other aspects of technical analysis to confirm signals.

Yes, I think you nailed the pattern. Now, it's time to wait for the real breakout.

Just a small update. SIGA seems to be nicely following through after the falling wedge reversal breakout.

mitchjas

Yep!

This one is looking good.  Looks like a 3 week ascending triangle breakout that's been forming since the wedge break.   Volume has been picking up.  Probably needs a close at least above 3.5 on strong volume to continue.

Shares Get Boost on Successful
Human Trial of Smallpox Drug Candidate
Shares of SIGA Technologies Inc (SIGA) got a boost on Thursday after
the successful completion of a "Phase I" human clinical trial of its lead
drug candidate for smallpox, ST-246. Preliminary results indicate that
the drug is safe and well-tolerated at all tested doses when administered
orally for 21 days to healthy human volunteers. In addition, blood
level exposures were dose-dependent, and the drug's half-life was sufficient
to support once-a-day dosing. "The data obtained here will be an
important and helpful part of our full submission for FDA approval," said
Dr. Eric A. Rose, Chief Executive Officer of SIGA. ST-246 has demonstrated
significant antiviral activity in various animal models of poxvirus
disease, including the complete protection of primates from lethal doses
of monkeypox and smallpox virus. In December 2005, the FDA granted
"fast-track" status to ST-246. In December 2006, the FDA granted to
ST-246 an orphan drug designation. This project has been funded in
whole or in part with Federal funds from the Biomedical Advanced Research
and Development Authority, Department of Health and Human
Services, in conjunction with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious
Disease, National Institutes of Health, Department of Health and
Human Services. In addition to smallpox, SIGA has antiviral programs
targeting other Category A pathogens, including arenaviruses (Lassa
fever, Junin, Machupo, Guanarito, Sabia, and lymphocytic choriomeningitis),
dengue virus, and the filoviruses (Ebola and Marburg). "In the near
future, we will work diligently to complete the regulatory work needed to
initiate federal government procurement efforts and ultimately sell ST-
246 to federal, local, and international agencies charged with protecting
populations from bioterrorism. We also believe that private industry
will purchase our drug to protect their employees and their businesses
from the potentially calamitous impact of a bioterrorist attack," stated
Dr. Rose.
