I had some time on my hands and did some pondering...   ;D

VWPT hit last high close of $3.99 in April 2004 with maximum high close of $30.87 in March of 2000.

VWPT hit last bottom of $0.30 in March of 2003 and rebounded to $3.99 in April of 2004.

VWPT recently bottomed in April 2007 at $0.33 and has been actively rebounding.

If April's bottom was another rebounding point, with new management leadership and promising pipelines/deals for this year to come, long position for VWPT may not be too bad of an idea.

AP
Investors Eye a Possible ValueClick Sale
Friday May 18, 4:52 pm ET
By Rachel Metz, AP Business Writer
Investors, Analysts Wonder What Will Happen to ValueClick in Wake of AQuantive Buyout

NEW YORK (AP) -- Now that Microsoft Corp. plans to buy online advertising company aQuantive Inc. for $6 billion, investors and analysts are wondering if competitor ValueClick Inc. is a prime target for a takeover of its own.

ValueClick, which some analysts see as the number-four player in the online advertising space, is the last man standing now that aQuantive and other sector majors have all been acquired in a matter of weeks.

On Thursday, advertising giant WPP Group PLC said it would purchase online advertising company 24/7 Real Media for $649 million, and in April Google Inc. said it would buy private online advertising firm DoubleClick Inc. for $3.1 billion. Yahoo said it agreed to purchase private online advertising exchange Right Media Inc. for $680 million the same month.

Some analysts think ValueClick is still on its own because buyers are most interested in gaining ad serving technology, which only makes up a small portion of the company's sales. The technology helps companies place and manage their online advertising.

Still, analysts also think potential ValueClick buyers exist.

"Last one standing at the dance sounds like a negative," Global Crown Capital analyst Martin Pyykkonen said, but the flip side is that there's still a few potential buyers for the company.

With a competitive marketplace for the companies that have sold so far, ValueClick "should be attractive to somebody," Pyykkonen said.

Pyykkonen estimated the company could fetch as much as $4 billion, based on a premium over his current $33 price target for the company and the purchase prices of its peers. Microsoft's bid put an 85 percent premium on aQuantive, while WPP's offer set a 30 percent premium on 24/7. DoubleClick was privately held at the time of the Google offer.

But with so many major companies already acquiring its peers, the question is who might be left to buy ValueClick.

Eric Martinuzzi, an analyst with Craig-Hallum Capital, said that based on the recent purchases it would make "absolute sense" if a major marketing and advertising company like Omnicom Group Inc. or Interpublic Group of Companies Inc. bought ValueClick.

He also agreed News Corp. and Advertising.com owner Time Warner Inc. could be potential ValueClick suitors.

And despite its recently-announced Right Media purchase, Yahoo might also benefit from "a more strategic relationship" with ValueClick, Martinuzzi said.

Of course, not everybody thinks ValueClick is at the top of the buyout list. Merriman Curhan Ford analyst Richard Fetyko pointed instead to Web marketing technology company Viewpoint Corp., saying its assets and technology make it a logical company to be purchased.

And ValueClick still has some problems, which analysts acknowledged. On Friday, the company said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it is under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission concerning its lead-generating practices.

Piper Jaffray analyst Aaron Kessler said it's still hard to say how the investigation will impact ValueClick. Kessler thinks the company currently complies with lead-generating rules, and the question now is whether or not the FTC wants to clamp down on what types of practices are allowed.

Kessler and Pyykkonen don't think the investigation will staunch its chances of being acquired, but it could hurt the company.

"It could be an overhang on the stock, until there's more clarity," Kessler said.

Despite the investigation news, investors cheered ValueClick's stock Friday, sending it up $2.12, or 7.6 percent, to $30. Viewpoint shares rose 14 cents, or 17 percent, to 96 cents.

Yes, another nice day of gain  ;)

Closed almost at the intraday high of $0.96 and hit $1.00 in after hours trading!!!
  ;D

I believe breakthrough of $1 is inevitable on Monday (probably at open or gap up).

Once the breakthrough of $1 happens, many waiting on the sidelines will probably jump in, pushing the share price even higher.

How much higher?  Not sure, but I am looking at the last rebound points of $1.64 and $3.99 as resistance points.

Nice positive write up on VWPT in light of being a potential takeover target - Repost from Yahoo MB thanks to pierrotvz:

http://www.antandsons.com/2007/05/viewpoint-potential-takeover-target.html

"... Wire reports from the Associated Press earlier today cited Merriman Curhan Ford analyst Richard Fetyko who pointed to Viewpoint Corp. (NASDAQ:VWPT), a web technology firm that helps clients manage and deliver traditional and interactive advertising, as a potential takeover target because of its assets and technology. Despite Viewpoint shares already being up 13.41% on heavy volume of 1.4 million shares, the stock could see additional upside if the speculation gains traction...

... Viewpoint is a small cap turnaround story revolving around the company's strategic equity partnership with DG FastChannel, recent acquisition of MAKOS and Viewpoint's Unicast division expansion into new markets that has significantly brightened a once dreary outlook."

There was a question of buy/sell targets for VWPT.

This is currently what I look for:  (remember, speculative gamble?  ;))

1.  Buy with confirming rebound off 52 week low (RSI and 10MA rebounds)
2.  10MA crosses 50MA with increasing volume
3.  MACD transitions from negative to positive
4.  Hold while 10MA remains above 50MA
5.  Price should gain as long as MACD remains in the positive territory
6.  Sell when 10MA peaks and falls
7.  Exit before 10MA crosses below 50MA

All smiles here ;)

Anticipate some pullback as RSI hit 92 yesterday - perhaps $1 may be tested as the new base?

Will continue to hold while 10MA stays above 50MA with MACD positive.  52 week range is $0.30 - $1.85.

Update:  I drew a comparison chart from 2003 to 2004 when VWPT rebounded off $0.30 last time.   I was initially planning to sell with the first peak of 10MA with corresponding drop of MACD, but if history repeats itself, I may choose to ride out the pullbacks until 10MA drops to cross 50MA.

With my buy at $0.46, I already have 122% gain at $1.13.  I will continue to monitor and decide what to do next.  ;)

Next resistance point at $1.38.

Steady gains intraday and closed towards day's high with 5.31% gain.  Today's volume was not much more than 3 month average at 800K, but still not too bad of a daily volume when you consider that VWPT's 3 month average volume was around 200-300K just last week.

Technically, I anticipated a pullback with RSI of 92 on Monday, but with today's steady gains intraday, Tuesday's pullback maybe over and I look forward to continued gains Wednesday.  MACD remains in the positive territory and rising.

Next resistance is at $1.27.

With Dow down 84.52 and Nasdaq   down 39.13, so did VWPT.

Well, we don't have to anticipate that pullback anymore, it happened today.  The $1 bottom was certainly tested today and held to close at $1.02.

If the $1 bottom holds and rebounds, this would be a good entry point.

Like I said, time will tell.  Will be holding as long as 10MA stays above 50MA.

Repost from Yahoo VWPT MB:

"Hi everyone,

I am just a technical trader.  I never traded VWPT before, but I do watch for stocks rebounding off 52 week lows, and VWPT hit my radar earlier in May.

Technically, VWPT is rebounding off another 52 weeks low of $0.30 like back in 2003 when it went from $0.30 to $3.99 (kinda like ONT - BTW, ONT rebounded off $0.10 for the record, and recently rebounded again from $0.50).

http://finance.yahoo.com/charts#chart3:symbol=ont;range=my;indicator=split+sma(10,50);charttype=candlestick;crosshair=on;logscale=on;source=undefined

I bought in with confirming 10 day Moving Day Average rebound with RSI double bottom and MACD conversion from negative to positive.  10 day Moving Day Average crossed above 50 day Moving Day Average with MACD staying in the positive.

I believe Thursday's pullback was much anticipated and projected $1 bottom did hold.  If new base is forming around $1, VWPT rebounding off $1 would present a good entry point for another rebounding run, back to potentially to previous highs ($1.64 and $3.99).

Company's forecast from last conference call was optimistic with good pipelines and deals in the works with recent infusion of $4.3 million from DG FastChannel (DGIT).

I would recommend a STRONG BUY with a long hold until 10 MA drops back down to 50 MA.

IMHO.  ;)"
