Good industry, great fundamentals.......
It has good fundamentals and good management. It should do well on long term.
Fundamentals speak for themselves, especially in the cash per share ratio. Free money anyone?
And ask yourself, how many facilities have they closed, compared to the ones remaining? Check their website to find out. Eventually money will move to this value play and I'll be there to collect it. Happy investing!

Kindred shares rise on 4Q results, outlook
Kindred Healthcare shares jump on better-than-expected 4th-quarter results, 2009 outlook
Friday February 20, 2009, 11:29 am EST

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of hospital operator and health care services company Kindred Healthcare Inc. jumped Friday after the company topped fourth-quarter profit forecasts and raised the bottom end of its 2009 outlook.

The stock rose $2.36, or 16.2 percent, to $16.94 in morning trading. The shares have traded between $8.12 and $33.25 over the last 52 weeks.

Late Thursday, the Louisville, Ky.-based company said it earned $21.2 million, or 55 cents per share, compared with profit of $16.3 million, or 43 cents per share, during the same period a year prior. Revenue rose 5 percent to $1.05 billion from $996.6 million.

Excluding discontinued operations, the company said it earned $21.8 million, or 56 cents per share, topping its own guidance of up to 45 cents per share, along with Wall Street expectations. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected profit of 38 cents per share on revenue of $1.06 billion.

Hospital admissions rose 2 percent to just under 10.8 million during the quarter.

"The quarter was highlighted by a strong rebound in our hospital business and the significant strengthening of our financial position as we move into 2009," said President and Chief Executive Paul J. Diaz, in a statement.

For the full year, the company earned $36.3 million, or 93 cents per share, compared with a loss of $46.9 million, or $1.17 per share, in 2007. Earnings from continuing operations in 2008 totaled $58.9 million, or $1.51 per share.

Revenue fell to $4.15 billion from $4.18 billion.

"As a result of our strong fourth quarter operating cash flows, we accumulated $125 million of excess cash at year-end to further enhance our financial strength in a generally difficult credit environment," Diaz said.

Meanwhile, the company tightened its 2009 outlook and now expects profit of $1.35 to $1.45 per share, compared with its prior forecast of $1.30 to $1.45 per share. It still expects revenue of about $4.4 billion. Analysts expect profit of $1.37 per share on revenue of $4.35 billion.

During the first-quarter, it expects profit between 40 cents and 50 cents per share, with analysts forecasting 38 cents per share.

Analysts expect 2009 profit of $1.37 per share on revenue of $4.35 billion.

"Kindred posted better than expected fourth-quarter results despite strong economic headwinds, which we believe provides further evidence of the resilient nature of the long-term care industry," said Jefferies & Co. analyst Arthur I. Henderson, in a note to investors.

He reaffirmed a "Buy" rating and expects the stock to hit $21.50 in the next 12 months.
