Gil,

I am not an a-kisser.  You're not going to hear me say anything about your hard work and diligence as the cause of your success.  But, what i will say is wow.  We have a lot in common.

I currently work as an electrical designer (power systems) eventhough i don't have an EE.  I've spent a lot of time crafting my own market theories.  To wit, i've determined that we as humans do the same things over and over and over, again and again, ad repetition, ad infinitum, ad nauseum.  Which means stock movements, repeat.  But, what most fail to recognize is that, that movement, is distorted by time and volume.  That of course, is just one of my many.

I'll bet you are the analytical type and I'll bet it doesn't begin and end with stocks.  I'd like to know if you have any dreams related to money or markets.  I'm fishing for anything else we might have in common other than stocks and engineering.  Oh, and one more guess.  Is chess your favorite game?

In the world, of gifts from god, I succumbed to mediocrite and settled for engineer.  When here is where I belong.

Sorry forgot to ask this one last question.  What are your top 3 TA books?

Hi EliteG,

I was searching for a new car today but still doing analysis. First thing coming back to home, it was enlightening to read your interview today and it motivated me.

I started bad in stock investing 3 years back and last year came to this site where I met disciplined traders like you and learned and have recouped my earlier losses.

Thanks for sharing and educating me with your discipline, logic and non-emotions in stock market.

- Dhiraj

You're welcome Dhiraj! 8) I'm glad you found this site.. any trader who finds their way here is going to become better from all the great talent we have around.  Thats grea that you have recouped your earlier losses.  Keep at it, you will succeed!

Hi G!
just read your interview, fascinating. you are a great kid. you put your family first, rather than money. money is important but family is more important. and you took life in your stride. you have talent, true grit and above all you will be successful. and I have learnt a lot from your analysis.
sorry to hear that you lost your mom at an early age but you handled it well.
Good luck!

thx for the kind words starfire  ;D

Hey LS  8)  I'm not really good with labeling myself.. in fact I had to check and make sure what analytical meant  :D  From the definition I'm taking it to mean "Studies something to come up with a method or a judgement".  That nails how I play stocks.

For me its about pattern(not just chart patterns) recognition..and researching the fundamentals of why it works.. leading to the most basic components and then being able to expand on those basic components to apply to a much broader field then where i started... lol.. I hope that makes sense.

An example would be:  The hammer candle provides support, this is a known pattern.. it shows support by having a long shadow/wick with the body finishing in the top area of the days range.. after research the fundamental concept: long shadow/wick shows support by rejecting price..  broader real-world application: any long shadows/wicks show a price rejection whether support or resistance.

I like chess but I cant say its my favorite... for now I'd have to go with Battlefront II  ;)

LS

Hmm the top 3.. I've only really read a few and browsed through others at Barnes and Noble.  I guess its been a while and I believe that everyone has something that'll work for them.. that might not be the same:

Rule The Freakin Markets - not really TA but a must read
The Master Swing Trader - well I guess I never really read through all of this but its on my desk so it must have nice pictures

I really cant pick a third.. everything is available online and from other traders.  But soon I should have a book out.. I'm shooting for beginning of next year.  >:D  That one will be packed full of pictures.. I guarantee.  8)

eliteG gave an interview to a Portuguese financial newspaper. They only published an excerpt but eliteG gently sent me the whole text.

Do you have a degree in economics or had any specific
training in the stock market?

**I do not have any specific training in the stock
market other than my experience and my own research.
I have read about 30-40 books on the stock market and
half of those were.of no value.  This is actually a
high percentage of great books compared with the
average trader because I did some research on which
books to buy.

Thought you said you have read many books.

I've not read many books just based on TA.. you asked specifically for TA books?

G - I am shocked this book would make the list. The author Michael Parness is a pathological liar and scam artist. I skimmed the book at B&N once and was revolted. Parness is no better than Tokyo Joe. Some reviews about Parness' books on Amazon.com:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/customer-reviews/B000BZEOVA/ref=cm_rev_sort/102-8760602-1918509?customer-reviews.sort_by=byExactRating_1&s=books&x=6&y=9
These are the 1-star reviews. Parness pays people to write 4-5 star reviews so it's not even worth reading those.

Some excerpts:
I had also bought his tapes after seeing his infomercial. I had to sell them on eBay at fraction of the original cost.

This whole book is intended to get customers signup for his overpriced $5000 junk seminars.

A completely uninformative stock market 101 book that reiterates the same old, stale admonitions about not letting emotions get the best of you, let your profits run, etc.

Those that can't do, write books pretending they can I guess

A horrible book from a bunco artist. Parness is a rip-off, from the tapes he peddles on TV to this poorly written book.

The book is nothing more then fluff, it doesn't tell you how to trade, just gives generalization that you can get from your uncle George on a Sunday afternoon. He is a snake doctor selling the fake medicine.

??? ???
GO IN THAT HOUSE OF PAIN THAT YOU SEEM TO WANT TO BE IN, BUT GET AWAY FROM ME.  I'M TRYING TO WORK, DAMMIT.

Wow Lucas I absolutley disagree.. this guy is a great trader!  Those generalizations.. I take them as fundamentals of trading.  His book is a light read and focuses on some things not covered well in other books.  But no book is the bible.. you take what you need and let it go(just like a stock)

There is genius in this books simplicity.

I keep it out on the desk.

Hi guys, this is the first time I think that I write something, but I am really really impressed by this website. I really enjoyed to read the interview and hope everybody will have a good trading day tomorrow.

Cheers
