JDSU is in a strong uptrend on increased volume. Price action could be creating a saucer bottom just like CTLM that i posted the other day. Its late so im not gonna go into detail, But heres the profile and charts. They're sexy!  ;)

The Group's principal activities are to design, develop, manufacture and distribute fiber optic components, modules and subsystems for the fiber optic communications industry. These products are deployed in advanced optical communications networks for the telecommunication and cable television industries. The company is doing a reverse split and Cramer has been pumping it on his show.  He thinks it is a best of breed, likes the CEO, Kevin Kennedy,  and feels that with the share price higher, it will attract mutual funds.

They just made a purchase of Acterna.

Historically, most companies do not benefit by reverse splits.  But what do I know.

I believe we're at the final stages of the bull market that started on March 2003 and took the S&P 500 from a low of 780 to 1247 points. I don't know if it will take days or weeks or even months but there are several signs that a long term bear market could unfold again.

I've seen (or at least studied) many bull and bear markets since stock market history began and they all have pretty much the same behaviour when they come to an end. At the final stages of a bull market investors pick up the forgotten stocks, those that were left in the ground as others rose immensely.

Those stocks deserve their place in the sun too, but there's not much time now. So they will rise fast before everything falls appart and the general market starts trending down.

I'm not particularly interested on the specifics of each stock, since they are acting as a group and will continue to do so, based almost exclusively on mass behaviour.

You see, now everything's gone up, the energy bubble is now completely unfolding and getting to an end too, so big and small speculators as a mob will jump on these liquid and low priced stocks. I see 20 to 100% upside potential in each one of them in a few weeks time.

JDSU fully qualifies, it is one of those abandoned angels. I will buy JDSU for the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio at today's open.

JDSU Fans Gobble Up Split

So far, so good for JDSU's (JDSU:Nasdaq - news - research - Cramer's Take) split decision.

Investors cheered the fallen bubble-era favorite for the first time in a long while last week. The San Jose, Calif., optical networking company is asking shareholders to approve a reverse stock split that would boost the share price by reducing shares outstanding.

The company cited the need to attract institutional investors, many of whom are prohibited from buying stocks that trade for just a dollar or two. JDSU shares jumped 17% over five days, clearing $2 for the first time in six months.

But the recent run-up aside, investors boarding the JDSU bandwagon could be in for a bumpy ride. A look at recent reverse splits in tech and telecom shows that few companies flourish after the move. Of 11 stocks tracked by TheStreet.com, only four have gained since the reverse split took effect.

Of course, companies that do reverse splits tend to be in a tough spot, and JDSU is no exception. The stock fetched as much as $124 in the summer of 2000, at the tail end of the Internet building boom. But then customer orders went into a deep freeze and the company, then known as JDS Uniphase, endured a $50 billion write-off of acquisition overpayments as well as numerous rounds of layoffs. Its shares swiftly plunged into the single digits, where they have been stuck for more than four years.

Beyond its tattered business, the root of the JDSU mess lies in the stock-swap acquisition binge that first vaulted the company into the spotlight. In that regard, JDSU isn't alone. Lots of huge telecom and networking supply outfits, ranging from giant Cisco (CSCO:Nasdaq - news - research - Cramer's Take) on down to tiny Ariba (ARBA:Nasdaq - news - research - Cramer's Take), printed mountains of new stock during the Internet boom. The companies used the shares as currency to pay employees and for acquisitions. Since then, though, the market for tech stocks has tanked, and many onetime highfliers find themselves sitting on mounds of stagnant stock.

Així és la Catalunya, així és el Barça! Mès que un club!!!

Thanks for the interesting info Se7en  :) I believe the key sentence is:

«Investors cheered the fallen bubble-era favorite for the first time in a long while last week.»

They're acting as a group, a group that is moving to the upside on above average volume.

David Randolph

Spectacular action from JDSU, with relative strength against the general market as I expected. The stock broke a bullish flag formation on the upside and is continuing its bullish campaign.

My short term price target for this small priced stock is $2.94.

Well im glad someone acknowledged this pick pick besides me. Turns out it was the man him self.  :o

JDSU was up a lot, then down a lot, just to close almost unchanged on the day. Volume was extremely high.

I describe this action as profit taking which was met by strong buying. No resistance was met yet, resistance only comes at $2.94 and the short term trend is still bullish.

I'll continue holding JDSU whatever happens today.

David Randolph

Is JDSU really garbage? I don't know, but I'm starting to get suspicious about my ability on this 4 stocks group trade (CMGI, JDSU, SUNW and ATML). Pressure is high to take some small profits, because I've been having some small losses too and I would like to have my profit/loss ratio at 50% or higher.

Maybe the stock will trade down to the ascending support level, which for tomorrow will come at $1.99. But it can also trade higher and run for the $2.94 resistance level.

So, what to do?

I'll sell the stock at tomorrow's open, hopefully taking out a small gain and try to buy it back everyday at the ascending trendline (tomorrow at $1.99, rising approximately $0.02 per trading day).
