Abraxas Announces South Texas Drilling Results and Provides West Texas Update
SAN ANTONIO, Jul 25, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Abraxas Petroleum Corporation (AMEX:ABP) today announced the results from the third Edwards horizontal well drilled in South Texas this year and provided a West Texas operational update.

The Edwards horizontal well was drilled to a total depth of 15,691', including a 1,311' lateral. The well was completed, recently placed on-line and currently pipeline restricted to a gross rate of 2.5 MMcfepd with flowing tubing pressure of 2,050 psig. Abraxas owns a 100% working interest in this well.

In the Oates SW Field area of West Texas, significant gas shows were encountered while drilling a Devonian horizontal well to a total depth of 16,022', including a 2,481' lateral. This well currently awaits completion. The first well to test the shallower Wolfcamp sands, has been successfully re-entered and awaits a stimulation crew. Abraxas owns a 100% working interest in both of these wells.

"We are quite pleased with the results from the Edwards horizontal drilling program this year and look forward to definitive results from the Oates SW Field projects in the near future. The financing we completed last week should enable us to accelerate our development in Texas and Wyoming even as we still experience some delays in obtaining equipment and crews. Continuing strong commodity prices, additional liquidity for development needs and a growing inventory of exciting projects should bode well for all Abraxas stakeholders looking forward into 2006," commented Bob Watson, Abraxas' President and CEO.

Abraxas Petroleum Corporation is a San Antonio-based crude oil and natural gas exploitation and production company with operations in Texas and Wyoming.

Safe Harbor for forward-looking statements: Statements in this release looking forward in time involve known and unknown risks and uncertainties, which may cause Abraxas' actual results in future periods to be materially different from any future performance suggested in this release. Such factors may include, but may not be necessarily limited to, changes in the prices received by Abraxas for crude oil and natural gas. Just awfull!

I did what I shouldn't ever do: I added on this huge dip. ::)

The fall in energy related stock is just too ridiculous, and must be pure panic.

Winter WILL come, energy WILL be needed.

I really don't understand what is going on... ???

Maybe I should just sell everything - and go home and knit a sweater?  ;D

Cheers - in a couple of days, I hope!
Happy trading...

I guess the move today is because of this:

C. K. Cooper & Company Issues a 7-Page Research Update and Reiterates Buy Rating on Abraxas Petroleum Corp Raising Target Price to $9.00

October 11, 2005 09:31:20 (ET)

IRVINE, Calif., Oct 11, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- C. K. Cooper & Company published a 7-page report on Abraxas Petroleum Corp (ABP, Trade). This research report details Abraxas' West Texas and Wyoming resource plays and the potential upside for ABP shareholders.

Brian J. Samuels, Associate Director of Research commented, "Since our initiation in July, at $3.06, Abraxas has exceeded our expectations as well as their guidance, a feat often promised but rarely delivered. On September 14th, the Company announced current daily production of 21.5 Mmcfe/day, exceeding their guidance for the year and leaving room for further improvement. Abraxas' execution gives us confidence to increase our production estimates for 2005 and 2006. Since Abraxas' effectively eliminated a substantial portion of their CAPEX-restricting debt load in February of this year, the Company has shown that once the gloves were off, they can execute and build shareholder value in a truly impressive fashion."

Abraxas Petroleum Corporation closed Monday at $6.70 per share.

If you like the energy sector then ABP is where its at. There at the Independent Petroleum Association of America's ("IPAA") Small Cap Oil & Gas Investment Symposium to be held February 7-9, 2006 at The Westin Diplomat Resort in Hollywood, Florida this week.

Alot of speculation surrounding new wells coming on line. They just gave an update on production and the bottom line is that their in the right sector and making money.................worth a "strong" look.

One more thing, ABP is 70% Nat gas/ 30% oil. Please look at Bob Hoyes cyclical Nat gas chart.........it appears that the bottom is in and poised for a strong move UP. Afterall he is the guru right...........LOL

I look forward to taking out last summers high of $9.25.

Market experiencing some needed correction................The good news is, the winners will prevail with cosolidation and true earnings growth.....

So, the buzz is that ABP has hit the motherload in west texas, with recent insider buying, energy sector being really hot, a NAV of $10.73, and CK Cooper price target of $9............well lets just say, if the rumors are true...........see ya at $10.00+

I was in it last summer when it ran to $9.25, I believe it will do it again.
