Brandyjoco,

People mentioning the "slim jim" sideways tight range pattern in NVAX mid day trading 11/2  - looks similar to heavily traded stocks such as SIRI and LU.

Does this indicate a break out setup or is it just going to chunck sideways on heavy block trading?

News beyond this morning's stock 'dillution' or however it's seen, seems to be awaiting an afternoon cameo appearance on CNBC by NVAX Pres. - meetings in NY and DC happening today, and more details from Sec. Leavitt were supposed to be released today on Bush's plan too?

It's been a good swing trade when we've hit the right points - still learning  ::)

Thanks for any opinions

Here's another clip of information posted on Yahoo mb courtesy teddirk:

News for 'NVAX' - (DJ Novavax CEO: Aligned With President Bush's Avian-Flu Plan)
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Novavax Inc.'s (NVAX) avian flu-vaccine strategy is in line with President George W. Bush's plans to prevent a potential pandemic, Chief Executive Rahul Singhvi said in an interview on CNBC Wednesday.

"Our strategy is very much aligned with what the president has outlined," Singhvi said. "The way our technology works is we work with genes, we take the important genes out of the flu virus and clone them...They are completely safe, they are incapable of replicating in the body."

He said the company's technology allows it to work with the most emergent strain of the virus.

Early Wednesday, Novavax entered into definitive agreements to raise $18 million through the issuance of 4.18 million shares of its stock at a price of $4.30 per share.

He said that money will be funneled into avian flu-vaccine development.

I came away with a different spin, He did not make any lofty projections just explained the research and the reason they need the capital is to put their product in the pipeline.  Although I will be selling sooner than I had planned previously as the public will at somepoint get tired of hearing about bird flu news.

[D] Investor

A comparison of the 6-week charts of both GNBT and NVAX shows that both stocks are currently fluctuating and in the process of forming a second "symmetrical triangle" in the context of a strong uptrend. Symmetrical triangles often resolve themselves in the direction of the trend and should be indicators of a continuing bullish or bearish trend. Since we're in an uptrend, both stocks should be seeing another breakout with high volume soon. Now is a good time to buy and buckle your seatbelts for another smooth ride up! My [2] cents.

And since this thread also speaks of VPHM...  ;)

VPHM's above average volume breakout today marked the end of a month-long of uncertainty, consolidation, and frustrations and preempts a new month of new highs. From a visual investor's perspecitve, a breakout of a "symetrical triangle" formation while in an uptrend indicates the continuation of the uptrend.

VPHM is still a strong long term stock and investors holding it for month's end will see rewards. Right now is still not too late to hop onboard as VPHM has just begun to takeoff. VPHM's potential early morning drop tomorrow due to profit taking would provide an excellent opportunity to take up positions... what a great way to start off the month of Thanksgiving! My [2] cents.

Thank you for the technical chart and info. And yes, I hold VPHM as I feel it is undervalued for its strong fundamentals.

Good morning!!!  I actually went to bed "early" to catch up on much needed sleep.  :D

Well, as I posted yesterday pre-market, I sold NVAX and bought VICL.  I sold VICL as it approached $6 before I went to work.

= Note = I believe NVAX is still not trendable because of the recent Avian/Bush "speculation."  The "stellar" gains NVAX experienced, I believe, was due to the anticipated "speculative" Avian news.  So, like I said, we must take each days with extreme caution.  If you are not comfortable, you should cash out and wait.  If you fully "REALIZE" the "SPECULATIVE" risks involved with NVAX, then trade NVAX very carefully this week!!!

I thought about holding cash until I did more research on my list of stocks afterwork last night, but saw NVAX dip.  I waited til I thought NVAX hit the bottom and bought back at $4.21.  When I saw a nice rebound activity to $4.41, I left for work.

NVAX closed at $3.99, down $0.56 with almost 27 million shares traded.  What's interesting is that we just came down to the previous days close around $4.  We went from $4.00, down to $3.59, up to $4.04, up to $4.55, then down to $3.99.  Are we due for another up or down?

I believe CEO present's exposure of Novavax on any media is positive.  Although stock performance has been "speculative" as influenced by Avian flu news, I believe many traders/investors will see this "temporary" gain/loss as such.  As to the "real" Novavax company product lines, Estrasorb and two other products are due out soon.

Another conf. presentation on Nov 7 will give us an update on where Novavax is and headed towards.  Perhaps, CEO will give an update on Avian vaccinne development as well.

As a "full on" swing trader, I chose to take another "gamble" on NVAX yesterday.  It is my money and I will swing trade away.  If NVAX has a nice gain, I will take profit.  If NVAX doesn't gain, I'll cash out early, and wait for another rebound OR buy another stock(s) in my list of 20-40 stocks I monitor.

Take care today!

Good trading!

NAVX is trending nicely above the 13 day EMA.  So long as this trend holds, NAVX is a terrific long term hold (or swing) with buys near that average.  The volume and price also makes it perfect for block traders too.  I've been trading it constantly over the past 2 weeks and will continue to do so as long as the action and beta stays this volitile.  Also a grant from the NIH is inevitable.  They already have several past grants from the NIH already.  So another for avian flu is likely soon.

Excellent money maker for a trader.  Just excellent.

I agree with you bula !

In the worst case scenario in human terms not stock terms this company does have the tech and would be bought out so that bigger companies like Merck could manufacture mass doses.
However, I doubt we will have a bad case from what I can tell this virus in it's current form is not always deadly just deadly to those with weak immune systems just as the normal flu is.  But after the hurricanes and such people are thinking about being prepared more.  So, That's why this is my only bird flu play
