setravis, thanks for the post and charts!  hulajoy200, thanks for the link!

OTTAWA, Canada (AP) -- World health ministers meeting in Canada to discuss strategies to fight the spread of bird flu emphasized that preventing the disease from mutating into a deadly human virus was as important as developing new vaccines against it.

Bloomberg just covered the new Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke replacing Alan Greenspan is spurring "bullish" market gains in Asian Stock Markets!

He comes onboard with excellent credentials and analysts' are confident that he is capable of maintaining the inflation and controlling the US economy.

He is expected to stop Greenspan's interest rate hikes and start lowering interest rates!!!  Analysts predict positive response by US and world stock markets in a "bullish" rally!!!

Expect some more excitement tomorrow!

Good trading!

I sold my NVAX holding in the resistance zone above $4.20, 50% plus gain in 1 week needs to be banked. Weekly chart shows clearly how today NVAX has stopped at the 200ema and put an intraday spike up towards the 200sma. That type of action shows why I track both the 200sma and 200ema. I'll buy NVAX back if it can clear this resistance on continued volume as all indicators are still in buy mode.

Does anyone have TA information on NVAX?  I'm a dummy when it comes to reading charts....

Heres a technical breakdown of NVAX brandyjoco  :D .

Todays price action made a nice rally on heavy volume to close at 4.15 and as you can see from the chart there was a strong area of support and resistence in the 4.10 area last year. Though we had a close above that area today, i think we will likely see some profit taking tomorrow due to such a sharp advance over the last two trading sessions making this a false break out of resistence and the 4.10- 4.15 area is gonna be a key resistence area to break for this rally to continue technically.

Once this area is surpassed(well, if it is surpassed, which i think it will) the next area of resistence will likely be the neckline of the head and shoulders pattern that formed in 03-04 which stands at exactly 5.00.

price action is also slipping away from the current ascending trendline so a healthy retracement will possibly occur sometime in the near future hopefully just to retest the trendline. The 200 day EMA had an upside cross from the 50 day EMA which is a fairly reliable signal that prices are to head upwards, more so for long term rather than short.

Hope this was of any help brandyjoco or anyone else.

I have been waiting for the pullback also thinking that the stock is moving to fast and far away from the trendline.( like SVA corrected)  However, the volume is just crazy and watching the buyer/sellers on level 2 is showing me that the buyers are definetely outnumbering the sellers. Does anyone think that if the volume stays at current levels or even increases in the short term it could continue to delay this retracement. I would appreciate some TA advice. I am still fairly new in properly deciphering direction of a stock by its chart and volume correlation. Thanks...

European indexes are mixed with FTSE and DAX both down.

European markets open just before US markets, and often indicates US market action.

I am reading news posts that are saying new Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke's bullish "affect" is fading fast.  Well, then be very careful today!  Watch out for the bearish market trend to return.

After Friday and Monday's large gains, there will certainly be profit taking!  However, many retail investors/traders (that's us) probably sold as NVAX climbed $4+, $4.20 - $4.30+ and will be looking to buy back on dip today.  Daytraders will be looking for this profit taking sell off to buy and sell later intraday.  For swing traders (like me  ;)) who may have sold at $4+ will also be looking for buy back after the profit taking sell off.  Once the profit taking is done, anticipate the buyers who missed out on Monday's gain to jump in, even at market buy!  There is still very strong "BUY" interest in NVAX and those that are just finding about NVAX wil  be buying NVAX at any price in fear of "spiking gains in price to $5+"

I did not sell yesterday at $4+, which was my current sell target because of the large volume gain activity.  I wasn't sure if there would be an afternoon spike in gain (remember, I work full time during the day and have to do limit sell, unless my wife intervenes and pushes the "sell" button intraday).  ;)

I anticipate Institutional/money managers will continue to accumulate today also.  There may be some sell request/execution activities by the managers as we gain past $4 for funds that are managed by automated software programs.  Those that bought at sub-$2 have realized 100+% gains and that will trigger some automated sell.

For longs, I recommend that you stick with the rest of the Institutional/money managers who bought at $2.50 - $3.50 to realize "several dollars - $10+" gains.  When they sell, you should sell also.

Don't forget CEO Dr. Rahul Singhvi will be presenting at the C.E. Unterberg, Towbin Life Sciences Conference tomorrow in New York at 11:00 am EDT with a live webcast.  http://www.novavax.com.  Should be some more exciting updates and news!

Should be an interesting and maybe another exciting day for NVAX.

Good trading!

Hey Rickjust,

the reason why Aussie's chart is different than yours is because his periodicy for the chart is weekly, not daily. Here is an example of a weekly chart with the price action near the 200 EMA.

Thanks for the input traders.  The TA is very helpful.

The volume is crazy.  What explains that?  Daytraders?

Wish I was not on vacation when VICL made that spike :-X

Okay-- TA people.  I'm a newbie.

So a question for you:  what does TA tell us to do / look for given this afternoon's runup?

(we all knew it was a great stock, but wow)
