Wow = I am very humbled =

Really, I am not a genius!!!  I am just "passing" on some great information that were passed to me by "nice, kind, experienced, etc." traders here at 3SOF and Yahoo finance MBs.

If you want to learn technical analysis of stock trading, spend some time at "3SOF Knowledge Center, Technical Analysis" (just click "message board" link on left column, scroll down to "Knowledge Center" and there you are!)

The people you should really show recognition and appreciation to are David Randolph, Frederick Ramsburg, and countless supporters of this website.  They are the "real" knowledge base of 3SOF and most of the times, you will not see them post on Yahoo finance MB, but they do post at 3SOF MBs and they are an invaluable resource when it comes to stock trading.

Like them, I try to help others (especially newbies).  They have answered my countless questions and emails.  And their reward?  For us to learn to trade effectively, successfully and enjoy this "hobby or profession" called STOCK TRADING (swing trading for this newbie  :D)

David and Frederick have founded this wonderful "community forum" for us stock traders.

This October, they have gone "full-time" to support this priceless website (They quit their regular jobs to support this website full-time, and that's why the website went "premium" on October 1st of this year) and should be recognized "properly" for their very worthwhile cause.

If you benefitted and profitted from 3SOF, then you can donate (any amount) to 3SOF to allow David and Frederick continue doing what they enjoy and want to do, maintain this "community forum" for us stock traders.

Those that want the "premium" service David and Frederick offer (daily email alerts and access to premium website contents and services), you can become premium members.

Thanks again for all of your encouraging support.  I'll do my best to continue being a "benefit" to 3SOF!

Good trading!  :D

Welcome to 3SOF retvet24!!! Nice to have you on board!

Look, your comments and opinions are always welcome on 3SOF MB!!!

rurouni, gielda2003, and Julia, thanks but I just got home, so I'll do response posts and my follow up "swing trade" post a little later tonight.

= Disclaimer = When it comes to TA/chart trends, I am a young newbie.  There are those that are far more experienced than I am (such as David Randolph  ;) and many other supporters of 3SOF).  Please, do check out the Knowledge Base to learn more about TA/chart reading.  I am still in the process of learning, so I will make mistakes along the way.  I don't want to do anything that may mislead traders into making bad trades.  So, take my recommendations/analysis with "extreme" caution.  And of course, always do your own research (DD - due diligence) before making any stock trades.

Good trading!

I spent the whole weekend working on my charting.  ???  Lightbulbs came on, I just hope they stay lit during the "trading" session.   ;D  Thanks, xlivelife, for all your help.  (I didn't know I could post over here without being an official member.   Hopefully, I'll be able to join soon.

hudsonsgrill, glad you could join us at 3SOF!!!  Welcome! :D

Yes, I too am looking at the charts!  ;)

Joet asked me on SANM board to make sense of HOM chart (I made some nice gains from HOM earlier this year) and I am working on it right now.

I will post a cross-link here when I am done.

I spent quite a bit of time working on a chart at stockcharts.com and then realized that there was no way to save it.  Do you have to have the subscription service to "save" your work?  And how do you bring it over to this board?  I wanted to show it to the "experts" to see if I'd done it right.    :-[

kpunarc

I don't know if there's a better way of doing this, but I take a 'print screen' shot and crop the selection.
- Say I had just did my charting pur'sae. I would press alt+PrintScreen keys to make a picture copy (be sure to click on the browser with the chart to be sure that you're copying the right browser). Then I would open up a picture/photo editor (photoshop, paintshop pro, paint) and do 'edit -> paste'. This will save the picture into the software. Then I would crop some parts out (only if using photoshop or paintshop pro) and save the picture. Once saved, You can upload it to your post by selecting 'additional options'. Once selected, you just browse for the picture you created and then 'post'. Pretty simple once you do it the first time. If having any problems, just email me at [email protected] or aim msg me at beethmoninov3. hope this helps a bit...

hudsonsgrill and kpunarc,

I press "Print screen" above the "Backspace" button and paste into Microsoft Paint (Yes, I have paintshop pro and Adobe, but MS Paint works faster) and crop > New > paste > Save As "GIF or JPEG" ... that's it!

BTW, I have finished Joet's request for HOM chart analysis.  I will post "swing trade" techniques next (it's late 1:30 AM, so I'll post tomorrow) but since it follows "entry/exit" part of swing trading, I'll post my analysis of HOM here for you to "ponder" ... it really was an interesting chart!

Repost from SANM MB:
http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=3453.new#new

Hi Joe!    :D

Boy, this is a really interesting chart... well, here's my stab at it.  I also posted my response at HOM MB.

First some history.  I made some nice gains on HOM earlier this year.   ;)  When hurricane Katrina hit, hurricane plays like ZENX.OB (yes, $60 million US ACE temporary roofing contract!) and HOM, which does building restoration after the initial disaster recovery then restoration and reconstruction) all took off.  Yes, HOM is one of 20-40 stocks I monitor.  Recently, Avian bird flu plays like NVAX, HEB, SVA, BCRX, GNBT took off on "speculation" and I kinda lost sight of HOM.

Ok, let's look at the chart below and go over some "concrete" basics first.  If the stock is actively gaining with rising volume and MACD in the positive territory with RSI below 70, then it is a definite short-term "BUY."  And if all three of these criterias are the opposite with RSI above 70, then it is a definite short-term "SELL."

Well, let's go over the "less concrete" issues next.  If you look at RSI for August and September, it is way above 70-80+ which indicated that the stock is "overbought" and selling should follow (purple oval), but instead of a selloff, stock price kept gaining!!! (purple box).  I believe this was due to the hurricane response buy demand on the stock which drove the price up, despite the high RSI.

Next, recent volume "appears" to be increasing, but I believe that is probably "profit taking" sell volume.  If you look at 10 MA, it "peaked" and flattened and begining to go down.  If 10 MA approaches 50 MA, this is also a short-term "SELL" signal.

RSI is below 50, indicating that stock is not "overbought" - typically high RSI (70-80+) is a leading indicator of "sell" activity; however, MACD is in the negative territory.

So what does this all mean and what should we do on Monday?

I also posted the Technical Analysis "composite indicators" from BarChart.com.
http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=2173.msg30941#msg30941

It looks like, short-term, HOM will fall in price.  Approaching the 52 week high for any stock makes traders "nervous" and there is a selloff as the stock rises towards the 52 week high.  If you look at the 1 year Yahoo chart, that's what it appears to be.  Once HOM rebounds after this "nervous" selloff, if you once again see the price rise with increasing volume, MACD in positive territory and 10 MA breaking away from 50 MA, then you may see that 52 week high being challenged.

I also attached the MSN stock rating webpage that covers pro/con and risk/return.
http://moneycentral.msn.com/investor/srs/srsmain.asp?Symbol=hom

For Monday, I would be very cautious and carefully watch HOM at market open.

Take care, I hope this helped.

Ok, moving on to swing trading and determining entry/exit points.

There's been some discussion regarding swing trading and I have an idea.  In the meantime, browse the following chart posting and "practice determining" your entry/exit points of these stocks:

I posted some more commentary charts this morning for CNXT, FNSR, TMTA here:
http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=3476.new#new

And more comprehensive charts on CNTX here:
http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=1207.15#bot

It looks like there are many good stocks on the rebound for us to "swing trade" with next week!

I will continue working on determining entry/exit points for swing trading and post here.

Hi Livelife,

Your swing trade method is interesting.  Has using your combination of RSI, MACD and volume worked well for you?  I don't see David using RSI and MACD much.

NVAX was very bullish during its initial run and refused to retrace.   Did these indicators give you the correct signal.  I've been scared to swing trade such bullish stocks as the can remain "overbought" for a long time.

Any guess on where it bottoms ?
i traded this stock for the momo, now watching sidelines.

Good evening everyone!  :D

= What I realized today changed everything about stock trading for me =

I spent the entire day reviewing and reading the premium 3SOF boards (3SOF, 3SOF Fast and 3 Pennies OF, Knowledge Center, Member Corner, Strategic Orientation) and public 3SOF boards (Stock Picking, Penny Stock Picking, Previous 3SOF Picks, Knowledge Center, etc. etc.).

I also did a lot of stock chart analysis at the request of many members and as I read more and more boards and did more chart analysis, I realized something - I realized that there is a "TON" of great stock trading information and analysis available at 3SOF MBs (premium and public); however, much of the "critical" and "timely" information is "scattered" among hundreds of MB threads.

I am not new to 3SOF and familiar with its layout, but it still took me several hours just to "browse" this vast "community forum library of stock trading" to obtain the information I was looking for.  Can you imagine what a new visitor to this website or a newbie member would go through?

Back in July of this year, I spent the entire month reading all the material on 3SOF (dang, I am STILL reading the material), but how can a newbie stock trader (like me  ;)) get to the "essential" stock trading information to start trading effectively?

Many emails and messages I received these past several weeks mostly state, "I have not been successful trading stocks and lost money" and "How can I pick good stocks and how do I determine the entry/exit points to make money?"

What I realized this weekend is the following (and it applies to me too!):

1.  New and current stock traders "need" to maintain a solid and basic foundation of stock trading principles on a daily basis.

2.  Regardless of market conditions (bull or bear), a "standard process" of stock screening and monitoring process must be adhered to in order to identify the qualifying stocks that can be effectively traded for profit.

3.  An ongoing review of stock trading practice and continuing development of this practice must be done to continuously improve and make stock trading more effective.

To fulfill the above goals and continue my learning process of stock trading, I am going to do the following in the coming week:

Create a new MB thread under "Public 3SOF > Knowledge Base > Technical Analysis" dedicated to "objective and impartial" stock trading (yes, swing trading for maximizing gains, but will examine all trading styles (day/short-term swing/long-term) for newbies to stock trading and currents traders wanting to trade more effectively.  It will attempt to "consolidate" some of the vast stock trading "knowledge base" that is contained in 3SOF.

It will be a new learning experience for me in the spirit of 3SOF ("community forum" of stock trading) and for the benefit of numerous traders who have asked for this information.

Once the basic principles are covered, another MB thread will be created in the public 3SOF to "apply" this "knowledge base" to identify, monitor and trade stocks effectively for maximized gains.

Best wishes for all of us and thank you in advance for your encouragement and support.

Good trading!

- John

logocovet and Prince market,

Right now, as we emerge from the past several months of "bearish" market trends, there are many stocks that are about to rebound very well (including NVAX).  As the market transitions to "bullish" trends, our focus will shift from "Which stock is making money" to "Which stock will actualize the most gain?"  and for me, "Which stock can I maximize swing trading?"   ;)

I am currently working on the new Knowledge Center MB thread, which I believe will be critical for the weeks and months to come.

But, feel free to post any questions and comments here.  I will respond as I take breaks from the new MB thread (it's in draft window, so you won't see it there yet)  ;)

Here's my repost from CNXT board.

Thanks setravis!

I may have to do a 3-5 way diversification with SANM, CNXT, FNSR, TMTA, CBMX, and even NVAX for rebound!  Decisions, decisions for Monday   :D

If SANM has a nice gain on market open, I will probably take profit and do a "diversified" buy back...they all look very promising!

jpm, I did the analysis for TMTA here:

Thanks again LL! :)  I read your other posts and they are all great.  I also would like to thank David Randolph, Frederick Ramsburg for creating this great site and community.

LL, I am looking forward the new MB that you are creating.  I am itching to joing 3SOF full membership but I believe that I still have alot to learn about the critical fundamentals of TA before I can fully comprehend all technical postings.
